The breeze blew through Heron's Reef. The white-winged ships anchored in the harbor swayed a bit beneath natures loving caress, as a blue Heron perched upon the bell tower. Being a cross-road, the taverns of Heron's Reef were filled with assorted adventurers...
"Ow! Hey..." Sid said as she was again bumped into and groped by another drunken man. She had made the mistake of entering the roughest tavern in Heron's Reef the Cracked Keg. Dwarfs, Humans, Halflings. All the roughest types meet here.
Of course, that makes it a pretty bad place for a young woman to go, even though she's looking for a rough group of people to help her out. Hardy Adevnturers, thats what she needed! If only people would stop stealing her coin purse and groping her but.

"Give me another ale!" roared the obnoxious dwarf as he lay his fourth mug down on the countertop. Khondar Battlehammer scoped the room looking for some sort of entertainment. The mercenary was in a financial slump and he came to the tavern drowning his sorrow in ale. Maybe he'll be lucky enough and one of the daily bar fights will erupt soon. Khondar was just itching to release his sorrow and frustration by means of a barstool cracking someone on the head.

"Um..excuse mew!" The scholarly woman asked to a passing Half-Orc who simply kept walking, not caring for the tiny little creature. She saw a human with some nasty weaponry. "Hey you there! Adventure of a...life...time..." ANother passed her by.
She was simply out of luck, noone wanted to help her out. So after another attempt - this one failign too - she simply moved over to the bar and sat down near a Dwarf. "Firewater..." She says to the barkeep, who hurrries to get her order.

"Rough day?" asked Khondar when a small woman sat down next to him ordering firewater. "Taverns are always good places to come when you want to drown your frustrations. Or if you're looking for a fight," he laughed.
"Give me another!" shouted the dwarf after he drowned another ale in one gulp. The bartender came back a moment later with both the firewater and ale.

"You could say that..." The Scholar says, taking a long draught from the gourd of Firewater that was placed in front of her. Her face almost immediately turned beet red as the liquor slowly made its way into her stomach.
"You try and try to recruit people's for an adventure..." She says, her speech starting to slur with the powerful liquor in her stomach. "And they say 'No'...or call you an idiot wench...or take your coin purse..." She adds, takign another long slip.

"An adventure you say," replied Khondar, trying to hide his interest but failing to do so. "What kind of adventure are you recruiting for?"
The dwarf quickly perished his mug of ale and listened intently to the young woman sitting next to him.

She coughed a bit- the firewater was obviously to hard for her to really handle that well. She stopped. "Well...I was..." She paused, taking a breath. "Few...its hot in here...anyway I'm on a quest to map the world out...I don't think I can handle the dangers out there on my own...so I came here looking for some companions..>" She pauses again.
She takes a breath and starts fanning herself. Sweat beads up on her forehead and her cheeks turn flush. She gently nudges the Firewater away and looks at the Dwarf. "I need some rough traveling partners to help cope with the dangers of the world...in order to map it."

Khondar laughed a bit at the obviously forced drinking of firewater. His ears perked a bit, however, at the mention of the adventure. A task like mapping the world would surely be dangerous, but the more danger, the more pay. It was too much for the greedy dwarf to refuse.
"I may be interested in going along..." he stated. "But the pay would have to be high..."

"I'm devoting all my inheritance to this...I have enough to hire an army but noone seems to want to go with me..." She says with a shrug. She pulls a few gold coins of of the usual hiding spot- just guess -and places them on the table to pay for the Firewater.
"I want to at least get one or two more companions to travel wtih...you know anybody else?" The liquor was really making her speech slur a bit, but you know what they always say- drunkeness brings out peoples honesty.

"If this adventure will make me rich, then you have my service. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone else who would be able to accompany us on this journey. I tend to work alone. The more mercenaries, the more backstabbing and theft I run into."
Khondar reached into a pocket and pulled out a few gold coins. He payed for the many ales he drowned this day and gave the bartender a meager tip.

An elf clad all in silver and white stepped into the Cracked Keg, turning all heads towards the exit. He stood there surveying the room, attempting to decide if any of them might be able to aid him. As people began to return to what they were doing, he sighed and walked to the bar. "I suppose I should really stop looking in places like this for leads..." he mumbled to himself as he sat down next to a peculiar human and a rather stout dwarf, making sure to keep the human between himself and the dwarf. "Bartender, a glass of your finest elven wine if you please. Finest for a couple gold that is."
As the bartender brought his glass, which he paid for promptly, he noticed what the human was drinking, and he gave her and the dwarf a puzzled look. "How can you stomach that garbage?" he asked the human, taking a sip of his wine.

The would-be Cartographer smiled, as she gingerly placed her coins on the table. Her cheeks by now were flushed red, and she swayed a bit- defintely drunk.
"Oh...jus' chasin' away the problems of the day..." She sides a few extra coins down. "For his drink..." She says, nodding toward the elf. The bartender nods and takes all the gold before turning away to wipe down a mug or two.

The elf's eyes widened ever so slightly in surprise. "My, so there are still a few respectable people in the world." He stands and bows low. "My name is Li'telanis Naïlo," he says. He sits back down. "I'm looking to travel in search of rare magical artifacts, though traveling alone is never safe. Thus I came here..." He sighs slightly and takes another sip of wine. "Might I inquire as to your name, ma'am, and what brings you to this...unique place?" He glances towards the dwarf with a flash in his golden eyes, smiles at him, and returns his gaze to the human. "And is this respectable dwarf a companion of yours?" he says with a slight tone of haughtiness.
((OOC: edit: to type Naïlo, use the character script 0239, which is used by pressing and holding the alt-key, then pressing the number combination on the num-pad. It works whether you have num-lock on or off. This will type the " ï " symbol. Or you can just use an " i " instead to make it simple.))

Sid smiles, "Me...my names Sid-" She pauses and takes a moment to get everything back together, "Sidney Loreweaver...I'm on a quest to." Again she pauses.
She takes a moment to compose herself, my this drink was playing games with her stomach. She silently made an oath to never drink the stuff again. "Im on a quest to map the world...this is my good pal...uhm...what was your name again?"

"Khondar. Khondar Battlehammer is my name."
The dwarf grimaced a bit at the elf. He wasn't too fond of elves, but by looking at him Khondar could tell he was able on the battlefield. As much as the dwarf prefered travelling alone or with minimal company, he would welcome all able hands for the time being.
"If the elf's lucky, there won't be any 'accidents'," he muttered under his breath.
