Berengier finished his rations and took a swig of water from his flask. He nodded to Jaidthaslo in response to his question and then ambled over to his belongings. Everything was packed up and ready to go, so Berengier slung his backpack over his shoulders and was ready to continue the journey to Silverymoon.

Jaidthaslo had packed his stuff again and slung it upon his back, and smiled widely. He knew he would see his mother again, and hoped that his father was nearby (though he knew that his father had been killed shortly after they had met). As he turned toward Silverymoon, he sighed and started walking slowly. "One more night gone, and many more to come. I hope to live as long, if not longer, than my father," he thought. He had been on the road, moving from place to place, that he had forgotten what civilization was truely like. He hoped that none would be able to defeat him, the son of the great Drizzt Do'Urdan and half-brother of the unknown Jaden Deimoso.

"Aye, I'm ready whenever you are. It will be good to visit my church again once we return to the city," said Berengier. He quickly double checked all of his equipment and then set out on the path towards Silverymoon while the sun was on its rise.
(Sorry for the delayed post. Things have been hectic lately.)

As Beringier joined him, Jaidthaslo looked behind the two and smiled upon seeing that the place they had camped before looked as if no one had camped there before. He also saw that the area around their camp looked as if several people had been walking around the grounds and left the central area alone. "We should be in Silverymoon by nightfall today, but I have one stop to make. One of my siblings lives nearby, and I am sure he would welcome us for a short lunch. He may even accompany us to the city, if he is running short on supplies," he stated, "of course, he runs a small, yet relaxing, inn nearby. I just felt that he would be better off without me starting another riot in his place again." He smiled slightly, then looked at the road ahead. In the distance, a small building could be seen. He pointed and nodded. "That is the inn we will stop at today, my fellow adventurer. My brother keeps the place in pristine conditions."

Berengier nodded toward Jaidthaslo. "I have been past the inn once or twice, but never had the need to stop inside. It will be good to see atleast some sign of civilization again."
With that, the paladin started making his way to the lone building in the distance.

As Beringier headed toward the building, Jaidthaslo closed his eyes and made a silent prayer to Mishakael for safety and the hopes that his brothers' inn was still there. Afterwards, he started off in the same direction. After some hours of travel, the two came to a hill-top overlooking the inn. As he came to the edge of the hill, Jaidthaslo could see that not everything was as it had been all those months ago. The inn looked as if it were a shadow of how he remembered it. The building was small for an inn, yet it looked as if none had entered it for months. The trail leading to the front door was a little overgrown, and the building looked as if it had been on fire. There were signs of a fight around the grounds in front, and to the sides, of the inn. As he saw this, Jaidthaslos eyes went wide, and he rushed toward the building. Hoping his brother was alright, he came to the door and stopped. He looked through the burnt-out door and sighed. "Nothing could have prepared me for this," he thought to himself. "Where are you, Jaden, and what the hell happened." After a moment, he entered the building and started looking around. He saw a piece of paper on the bar, picked it up and read it. He nodded and set the paper back on the bar. He exited the inn and sat upon the ground. As he sat there, Jaidthaslo started humming an erie tune. After what seemed to be an hour, he stood up and smiled. "No one is here. They are all in Silverymoon..."

The paladin looked a bit alarmed at the news. "What happened? Why would everyone abandon this place?" asked Berengier.

Jaidthaslo shrugged. "I know not. The only thing I know is that they are in Silverymoon." He kept to himself the fact that he had discovered that there had been a murder in the area just weeks before he had left, and the person who was on trial was one of his brothers' associates. Jaidthaslo figured that his best chance was to find the killer and return to Silverymoon with the person- alive if possible. After months of searching, he decided to return with or without the killer. Little did he know that as he travelled, the killer had been following his moves very carefully. "We must get to Silverymoon today. I fear that if we arrive, it will be too late for one of my brothers' associates. The council gave me four months to find someone and bring them back. I must let them know that I failed..." Jaidthaslo turned toward the great city and sighed. After a moment, he started walking toward the city quickly. His pace was nearly un-matchable by most people.
(sorry about the delay. Things have been a little crazy for me.)

Berengier looked a bit puzzled as to what Jaidthaslo's quest was, but he quickly turned and was jogging to keep up with the half-drow. The paladin was also anxious to get back to Silverymoon, but his reasons were more mundane compared to Jaidthaslo's. He only wished to get back to civilization and his church.

As Berengier jogged next to him, Jaidthaslo looked around, keeping an eye out for anything, or anyone, that might know what had truely happened to his brothers' bar. After an hour of his quick pace, he looked at Berengier and sighed. He slowed his pace some and closed his eyes. Sensing that danger was nearby, he stopped and slowly drew his scimitars. He knew there would be a fight, and that he would very likely capture the person who had hurt his brother those eight months ago. He whispered, to Berengier, "Get ready for a fight, friend. I know that there are enemies nearby."

Puzzled as to how Jaidthaslo knew this, Berengier drew out his weapon, a bastard sword called the Blade of Searing, and put himself into a ready stance. If enemies are truly about, they'll probably outnumber the companions, so the paladin equipped his shield in the off-hand, which has the symbol of Helm engraved in the center.

As soon as Beringier stopped, he spun on his heels and jumped. His twin scimitars passing neatly over Beringiers' head to stop an arrow that had been aimed at his back. As he landed, he jumped again, this time over Beringier, with a somersault as he did. His eyes searched for the would-be assassin and found the figure of a young woman standing at the edge of a small copse of trees just fifteen feet away from where he stood. "Beringier, do you have any enemies that I should know about?" He stood there, his scimitars still drawn. As he started walking toward the young woman, another arrow flew straight for him. He blocked the arrow deftly and sighed. "We mean you no harm, youngling. I am Jaidthaslo Do'Urdan, brother of Jaden Deimoso and son of Drizzt Do'Urdan. You may not want to fight me," he shouted at the woman.

Berengier spun to face the women and held his shield in a ready stance.
"I have no personal enemies, but the church of Helm has many. Anyone of a dark pantheon would wish harm upon one who follows my faith."

Still walking toward the woman, he nodded to indicate that he understood Berengiers' words. As he got closer to the woman, he noticed that she had stopped shooting at him and had drawn a dagger and a long sword. This surprised him, since he, Jaidthaslo, had always thought that he was the only one who could fight with two weapons at once. "I do not wish to fight you, m'lady," he shouted at the woman. After a moment, the woman sheathed her weapons and made her way towards him with a relieved look on her face. He sheathed his scimitars and smiled, hoping that she was who he hoped.

"Be wary Jaidthaslo. I trust your judgement, but I wouldn't so easily trust a stranger who had no second thoughts about sending an arrow at my back."
With that, Berengier slowly started walking behind Jaidthaslo and towards the woman, but he kept himself ready for another sudden attack from the stranger.
