Norton walked in after Jake, looking around at the architecture of the castle. It was well built, stong for its time... a fortress. He thought for a moment as to where the girl could have gone or what exactly was she lookin for. "I would guess, a quiet, warm place. Besides that, I can't of think what she might be looking for in this castle. So... its your castle, lead the way..." He decided he wood meet the technopath later.
((Thanks for the reference Pinata, I didn't know what it meant and good to have you back in flow. Now if you only rest would come along as well -_- ))

Jake nodded. "There are a couple of rooms that fit that description, we'll start with the library." He led Norton to a room with a plush carpet and warm fireplace, and saw the girl curled up on the floor, appearing to be asleep.
"Well, that was easy," he said. "I take it we should probably let her wake up on her own?" The last time the girl had been startled, she had gone all freaky cyborg on them. He noted that one of the vines protruding from her arms now had a bud at its tip, and wondered if the inner cyborg or the inner plant was the greater threat.

He nodded at Jake and smiled. It seemed they both remembered what had happened last time she was in discomfort. He looked at the sleeping figure of the girl and approached. She had fallen alseep a bit awkardly near on the carpet. She might have a bad neck cramp if she wok up like this. So he approached her and carefully and gently, so as not to wake her up, picked her up off the carpet and placed laid her down on the soft cushioned sofa. He stood up straight then walked back to pick up the jacket his jacket that she had been wearing and came back and put it on top of her. The jacket almost covered her entire body, seeing as how small she was.
He looked back at Jake and then glanced at the books. He spoke to Jake, "Thank you very much. I think I will stay with the girl and go through these books. There might be something of interest in here for me. Can I ask you of another favor? May I get some water and something to eat? Oh and do let me know when Dack wakes up..."

"Sure, I'll send some refreshments in," Jake said, thumbing his earpiece and relaying Norton's request for food to somebody else in the castle. He looked at the shelves of books, then back at Norton. "Are you looking for anything in particular?" he asked. "I might be able to help you get started."
Before Norton could answer, a tray of food entered the room. Just a tray of food, appearing to not have anyone carrying it. "Showoff," Jake muttered. Shroud, the invisible butler, snorted with laughter as he set the tray down on a table. His invisible feet made indentations in the plush carpet as he walked over to a cabinet in the corner and removed two glasses and a bottle of scotch. He poured the scotch into the glasses, then set them on the table next to the tray. Jake watched the progress of his footsteps as he left the room.

He was about to reply to Jake's query about the books when a tray walked into the library! He was taken aback a bit but soon remembered about Shroud who Jake had talked about outside. He watched the whole thing with a smile on his face then turned to Jake. "I am looking for books on advanced wave mechanics. You think you might have that in here? If not, then a history book will do too...", he shrugged.

She squeaked slightly when picked up, obviously not liking that sort of thing, but the floor she was put on was squishier than the carpet... waking up, she yawned and stretched, barely even noticing the rather heavy thing on top of her, which was actually rather warm. Curling up again under it, she realized just how large the object was, as it covered her whole body for the most part. Peeking out, she peered just in time to see a floating tray of stuff move up to a table, followed by a snorting and some more talking; by that time, however, she'd already retracted, cowering under the sheet atop her whining softly somewhat out of fear, fear for not knowing just what the hell was going on around her.
Once she'd calmed down, she peered out once more; the floating tray was gone, but the people were still there... she couldn't quite see who they were, but the voices were familiar enough. That, and the thing that'd been laid on her smelled like that one guy who'd picked her up earlier. She was getting hungry again, and her skin was nearly a pale green, meaning that she wanted more of that warmth... but where? The place she was in now was lit by lights that didn't warm much, and beyond that, it was all dark and such out there, with no warm light and no food... where was she to get food?
Her stomach growled rather loudly, possibly loud enough to be heard outside of her immediate area. Forced from comfort, she clambered out onto the floor, searching for her food; others had tried, she remember, giving her greasy charcoal and burned grain for food, but those never sat well with her stomach. After so long, she began returning them right back at their givers, who weren't too happy about that and usually locked her up somewhere cold and dark, not what she wanted at all. She wanted light, warm light, light that would make her skin turn green again, because that was the happiest feeling she'd had in memory...
Slinking over to the two behind the table-like thingy, she saw the man who'd held her earlier. Squealing, she rushed his leg, nearly knocking over the other guy in the process of hugging it rather... joyfully, making a soft purring noise and rubbing her head against the limb. She didn't want to be left alone, and although she didn't like being held, she would, if it meant she would stay with people she liked. This place was scary, and not the kind of place she would live in if she had a choice...

Jake nodded. "There are a couple of books in here that deal with advanced fields of scientific study... I think I remember reading one on wave mechanics." He thumbed through a section of books that had rather long and boring-sounding titles, grabbed one and said, "Ah, yes. Here it is. Hopefully that'll give you what you need."
He was startled by the sudden appearance of the girl, who nearly knocked him down. He fought hard not to laugh, and only barely won that fight, as she clung fiercely to Norton. "Looks like you've made a friend," he said, speaking softly enough so as not to startle the girl.

*since Knight hasn't posted yet, i'll keep going in hopes that he sees this XD*
She cooed in response to the statement, then retracted, standing up straight behind him and gripping him around the waist playfully. She was so small in comparison, barely reaching up to the bottom of his shoulders, but her grip was stronger than before, even if she was tired. The girl cooed again, rubbing her head against his back a few more times before retreating. She really was glad to have him nearby once more.
Stepping a few uneasy feet backwards, she straightened herself, wiggling her toes on the fuzzy ground beneath her feet as she looked all around. Why anyone would collect these weird things was beyond her, but the other man had walked over a moment before, presumably with interest in only one or a few of them, and plucked a single item off the racks. Now, she stared intently at it, wanting to look at it herself, but unsure of exactly what to make of it. Finally, she turned away, looking at the drawer-table (desk) instead. She began rifling through the drawers, but only came across items that these other people might know how to use; several looked familiar, but nothing she was particularly interested in. Just when she was about to give up, she found a candy bar in the bottom of the bottom drawer.
Unsure of exactly how to eat it, she mangled the wrapper with her teeth, but to no avail. Using her incisors and canines, she created a proliferated line across the top, then slowly tore the top off; as soon as the sweet goodness hit her tongue, her eyes went wide. Never in her life had she tasted something so good, and she quickly learned that chewing on the wrapper, now that it was open, pulled more of that into her mouth. Her taste buds went into overdrive, and within seconds the contents were gone, she licking whatever remained of it inside still like a starving animal. It was incredible, indescribably good to her, and she wanted more; however, her body gave out all of a sudden, having gone into a sugar-induced coma. A few seconds later, she was asleep on the floor once more, happy and content and not too hungry for light anymore...

Norton took the book from Jake and looked through it. He smiled and nodded, "This will do just fine. Thank you...", he couldn't say anymore before he was charged and hugged by the girl who had woken up now and was rubbing her head on his leg. He smiled and replied to Jake, "Seems like I have..." He just tried to follow the girl as she moved around him and then hugged him again like her toy.
His eyes followed the girl as she upturned the drawer almost and came out with a candy bar. He didn't say anything for a while, but just observed her as she struggled with the wrapper. It was very obvious when she finally tasted the sweet bar and gobbled it up as fast as she could. As she fell asleep again, he kept the book on the table and walked over to her. Picking her up again, he walked back to the sofa and set her down, this time taking his jacket with him to wear.
He turned to Jake, looking concerned, "If I had to guess, it seems like she somehow just escaped from a holding facility or research lab of some kind. She doesn't seem to know much about the world or how to speak for that matter. And I have a hunch all those troops and Gambit and Rouge were there for her too."

"I was thinking pretty much the same thing," Jake said. "At first I thought they were after you or Dack, but it seems like she was their priority all along." He looked at the sleeping girl... she seemed harmless and innocent right now, but he got the feeling she could kick a lot of ass if she wanted to.
"So, if you wanted to get some reading done I could go check on Dack," he offered. He wondered whether the other mutant had woken up yet, and whether Bishop had found the place okay.

(( Where is Sat anyway? ))
Norton nodded and took the book off the desk. He smiled at jake and said, "I try to stay off the radar of the X-Men to avoid what happened today. I think I will stay here and read. Let me know when Dack wakes up... and thank you again." He looked at the girl sleeping and decided the sofa chair next to her 'bed' would be a bit more comfortable than the wooden chair. He walked towards it with the tray that had been brought earlier and sank into the cushion with the tray near him. Opening the book he started reading.

(I have absolutely no idea where Sat was, but he posted in the Shoutbox so maybe he's back now.) Jake went to check on Dack, but was informed he was still sleeping off his injuries. There was no news of any further new arrivals either, so Bishop wasn't there yet. He headed down to the armory to restock, and met Apparatus the technopath there. He told him about Norton, just so the somewhat antisocial man wouldn't be surprised when a stranger approached him and started asking questions. As he walked away, he was thinking about Apparatus, and subsequently nerds in general, and got the Weird Al Yankovich classic "White And Nerdy" stuck in his head. The song was nearly 50 years old now, but had crossed generations and remained popular. (Yes, I know I reference songs a lot in my posts. There's a reason I'm the one who came up with Music City. :

She woke up some time later to the sounds of paper shuffling and a chair squeaking. Yawning and stretching rather cat-like, she peered curiously over the arm rest, able to smell Him even before she saw the man. However, he seemed to be deep in thought, so she thought it best not to disrupt whatever he was doing. Instead, she slipped off the couch and started to investigate the area some more, her sugar coma having passed rather easily.
There were so many of those squared-off things lining the shelves, in all sorts of sizes and shapes, that she couldn't even count them all in her head. Picking one off the shelf, she picked through it, then quickly put it back; looking at all the shaped black things on the paper made her head spin. Picking up one that was more colorful to her vision, she peeked inside; seeing less of the black things and a few pictures, she slunk back and onto the couch, imitating Him by sitting in the same position, opening the item as he did, and looking at it. The only thing missing was that she didn't have the intensity that he did... all she saw were a bunch of unfamiliar pictures, with bigger black letters and more frustration because she didn't know what any of those items were...
Within a minute, she became frustrated and dropped the rectangle thingy to the ground, sighing. Why was this new world so weird to her? Why hadn't she been taught anything about these things before she was tossed out here? Pure curiosity drew her back to the book, where she began simply leafing through, not exactly focused upon any one thing... until she came to a section with a big, long, windowed box with two white, seemingly shining circles in the front, and sliding sheets with tiny portals in them stuck on the sides of the box... Immediately, she slapped the thin thing shut, bewildered that it could read her mind as such; soon enough though she opened it again, and it was still there, still in the same place. How odd she thought to herself, and her curiosity only grew with this mystery.
She continued looking at the picture, then to the black thingy next to it. Why did she know what that word meant? It was obviously tied to that rectangle thingy, but other than that... Now she was even more confused than before, and was only becoming more so with every passing minute, and her solution was simple; setting down the rectangle item, she ignored it for now, resting her head upon the armrest and tried to think about so many things at once, her idle hands playing with the strands of hair-like grass that grew from her head, twirling a bundle of them all at once as pieces fell away one after the other in a continuing cascade of green...

Norton hadn't noticed the girl get up. He turned his head slightly when he heard some noise. He smiled as he saw her shuffle through the books and finally settle on one. His curiosity got the best of him as he watched her all the while holding the book he had been reading in his hand. He got up from his place and approached the girl and walked to her side, watching as she tried to look through the book.
As she settled on a particular page and looked at it for some time, he smiled. She then closed the book and rested on the armrest. He sat next to her and opened to book. He pointed to it and looked at her and said, "Subway train..."

She looked up to him, confused somewhat, then back to the book... she wasn't stupid, but if she wasn't then why couldn't she understand what all of this was? For about a minute, she continued staring at the book, trying to connect everything in her head. And then, rather abruptly, something clicked up in her head.
Even so, she struggled on bringing it out as she repeated the words she heard again, and again, and again, in a whispered tone, until finally she thought she had it right. Slowly, she repeated the word, her tongue rolling around every word brought to her, right up until she finished. There was doubt in her eyes even as she looked up to him, waiting to see if she had done it the right way...
