New York, 2008 9:27 P.M.
A power surge in the lower half of Manhattan had created a problem. A few sponks were running rampant. The power ottage couldn't ahve occured at a worse time, the X-Men were trying to round up these sponks that had come out of hiding thanks to Cerebro.
In a subway station, there wasn't any power outtage becasue it had all been absorbed by temporal phenomenon. A disheveled firue appeared in the electricity running through the station, his arm bands glowing. The elelctricity slowly left the air as he himself absorbed some of it. He looked at his inhibitors for a moment and grunted.
"I figured this would be a one-way trip," he said and turned towards the stairs. The power still hadn't come back on yet and wouldn't until most of Manhattan's transformers were replaced. He had a mission to accomplish....

She awoke with a sudden jolt, the ground underneath her seemingly sliding backwards underneath her as she moved forward a slight bit. Sitting up, she felt her head; everything up until now was a total blank, as if she had just been born here. Her memory was wiped clean... in fact, what was a memory? What was anything at all? She was frightened, but curious at the same time... Standing up, she wobbily moved forwards, trying to get her bearings as she walked towards the 'front' of the station, her memories piecing themselves together bit by bit as she did...
She'd heard about this vehicle; it was a train, she thought. A subterranean train... but what did that all mean? Why was she here? So many questions... but she still pressed onwards, hoping for answers. If that was the right word... her thoughts looped as she continued watching, looking about to see what was happening around her. There was no light, but her eyes saw all the same. It felt strange to her that she could do as such, but all the same it was familiar as well...
Suddenly, she saw a form walking along outside. Spooked more than anything, she hid behind a half-opened door, a small squeak coming from her mouth as she did so. She could see straight through the supposedly solid wall, watching the figure as he rounded about to the steps. She just sincirely hoped that he did not see her, and if he did, that he did not want to hurt her... those other men had tried to hurt her, and she'd hurt them worse than they did her... she didn't remember much of anything beyond that about what happened back there; at the moment, any memory was better than none at all, even the bad ones...

Norton looked back once again to check if he was being followed. He had almost run into a cop interrogating the shopkeeper of the supply store he frequented. He had almost walked in without thinking of checking before. He could hear him threatening to burn down the store but the shopkeeper hadn't said a word. The cop had stormed out of the store, furious at the disappointment. He had even seen Norton, step back into the shadows as he passed.
When he was sure the cop was gone, he entered the shop to get some food supplies. The shopkeeper was speechless to see him walk in so quickly after the cop. Norton had paid him a little extra, nodding at him and left.
As he approached the subway station, he started flipping through the book he had 'borrowed' from the library. It was an advanced wave mechanics book, very helpful. As he walked into the station, he looked up at the train. He was sure he had heard a noise, a yelp, coming from there. He freed one of his hand putting the book in the bag with the food and approached cautiously. His hand was a blur as it had started vibrating at a phenomenal speed. He also noticed now that the electricity had gone out in the station which emitted light from the emergency lights. The train had come to a stop midway from pulling into a station. "Anyone there?", he called out. Anybody who had lived here wouldn't have been surprised to see him. So it had to be someone else, a stranger.

She immediately hid upon hearing the voice, shaking and whining under a nearby seat. She hated people, and was deftly afraid of them... in her experience, they'd hurt her some time before. That much she remembered. But she could do nothing, could say nothing... she couldn't even speak like that one did... all she could do was sit there and quiver, too frightened to scream, too tired to run...

The inside of the train was dark. The doors hadn't opened completely as they were caught when the electricity had gone off. The train looked empty which didn't surprise Norton. He kept the bag down on the ground near his feet, still looking at the door of the car in front of him.
He approached it cautiously, not knowing what to expect. He pulled one of the doors aside completely and entered the car. Looking around in both directions, he started walking towards the end of the train. He stopped after taking a few steps. He could still hear somebody whimpering or crying near him but he couldn't see anything. He went down to his knees and looked under the rows of seats. Sure enough there was a small girl hiding under one of he seats nearby.
He went around the seat and saw her. She seemed thin and starved. She was pretty short but didn't seem like a child. She looked like she was scared of him, shaking as she held herself curled up in the small space.
He smiled as kindly as he could, his hand had stopped resonating, "I am sorry if I frightened you. Are you ok? You don't have to be afraid of me, I am not going to harm you. I promise..." He extending one of his hands towards her, hoping she would take it and come out.

She whined, scared to move at first... however, she didn't sense anything odd about him. Still, she was cautious; crawling out slowly, she kept her eyes on the man, awaiting any sudden movements. But he made none. Climbing up top the uneven shelf things that she'd hidden under, she looked at the... hand that he'd extended her. Curious, but also frightened, she reached out, placing her free hand upon his... and promptly pulled back. It wasn't him, however, that had startled her; a vine emerged from the rags she had for clothes, snaking its way around her arm as she stared at it in pure curiosity. When it reached her hands, the vine splintered, rooting itself into her skin as well as creeping to her fingers, rooting itself there as well... She could only stare in amazement at whatever was happening to her body, as it had her quite intrigued for the time being...
Abruptly looking up at the man, she promptly and rather oddly gripped his hand, feeling the vine quiver as she did so. She wasn't quite afraid of him as she was curious. At least, until she heard heavy footsteps coming from outside... They sounded like those heavy things that she'd seen bad people wearing, but she could hear many of them... in her fright, she whimpered, suddenly clinging to the man as though she were in love with him already...

Norton raised an eyebrow as he saw the vines creep up the girl's arm. He looked up at the girl and saw her own amazement. Either this was the first time it was happening to her or she had lost part of her memory for the time being. That would explain why she was so scared. He wanted to ask her a lot of things but kept quite not even registering the surprise as he was sure any sudden or unexpected action would scare the girl even more.
As the girl took hold of his hand, he could feel the vines moving a bit. He didn't know if it was her or had his own hand induced a resonation. He suddenly hear heavy footsteps, possibly outside the wall of the station. Commandoes, d**n. He had been careless somewhere or someone had talked. He knew he wasn't completely trapped yet unless the next station was also being sealed off.
The young girl was now clinging onto him. He realized himself from her grip and took hold of her hand, whispering to her, "Come with me and keep quiet." He picked up the bag he had brought with him with the other bag and started running towards the end of the train. He reached a door in the last cabin. He bent down to her level and whispered in her ear, "Don't be scared, ok?"
Without waiting for a reply he put the bag down and raised his hand to the door which had was a blur again. He put the hand on the door and the whole traing creeked loudly. The door in turn, buckled and the traps let go while the glass broke spraying the pieces outwards. he didn't have much time left as the squad undoubtedly had also heard it. He pushed the loose door outward and came face to face with a service entrance door he had used many time before. It was unlocked like he had left it last time.
He bent down to his knee and looked up at the girl, "I know you are scared. You have nothing to fear from me. I will have to leave you for a while, but I will be right back, I promise. You understand that don't you, a promise?" He picked up the bag, handing it to her and looked towards the front of the train, then back at her smiling. "Here, eat as much as you want. You look like you are hungry."

Jake had been tailing this commando team for a couple of hours now, wondering what such a large force could be doing. They were amateurs, seemingly unaccompanied by any particularly experienced personnel... or, for that matter, any X-Men. Now, it was time to strike... with the power out everything was in total darkness, and though ordinarily night-vision goggles were an advantage to commandos, Jake knew how to turn them into simply another weapon in his arsenal.
He pulled the commando in the back of the formation into an alley, and quickly broke the man's neck before he could call out. The others kept moving forward, not noticing their missing comrade for now... Jake relieved the dead soldier of his ammo, slipped out of the alleyway and crept along behind them.

The man had been on the far side of the station, not noticing the two until he had heard the footsteps and quickly realized that he had forgotten something. Cerebro would have been able to detect him if only for a moment before the electricity in his body shielded him. He had made a mistake and they were coming to check out this 'blib'.
They stormed down the stairs into the station, at least ten men in black uniforms trimmed in gold carrying weapons for incapacitation and some that could kill. One of them carried a small device that he, no she, kept looking at. He guessed it had to be one of the portable devices linked to Cerebro.
"Captain," one of the men said and brought his stun gun up to aim it in the man's direction. A stun gun. The man smiled, he might be able to have some fun with these guys.
The woman shook her head, as the Captain, a middle-aged man with a black helmet on his head, looked to her.
"Calm down, he's not a sponk. Boy you best leave. There's a sponk down here. Cerebro says it caused the black out. Wouldn't want you getting hurt," he said, he had an accent. Southern?
The man looked at him, he seemed familiar...uh-oh.
"Well, what do we have here?" he said,"A member of the X-Men come to see little old me. And in disguise no less. Allow me to introduce myself. The name's Dack, but those who come to know me as an enemy call me Arashi," he said. He couldn't believe his luck, to run into one of the X-Men already.
The Cajun's hand had pulled something out from under his sleeves,"You a sponk?" he asked. The others had gotten there guns trained on him, they couldn't tell if he was stupid to reveal himself like this or something else.
"Sponk!" he said, saying like a curse,"Get it straight! I'm a mutant and I'm here to TAKE YOU OUT!" he said and the people open fired on him. He fell backwards about ten feet and didn't move.
"Crazy boy," the Cajun said,"Tie him up and put the collar on him," he said as he turned his back. The others didn't move. Arashi was getting up, laughing....
"They call me Arashi for a reason Remy," he said, his eyes lowered,"I'm a storm waiting to be unleashed!" he sent a shockwave of electricity through the air towards the group. Sending some two back into the wall and cracking thier heads. Unconscious and the others skitted across the floor. Those suits were insulated, but he knew that had to have felt that jolt.
Remy had dodged it completely, having to deal with mutants of varying degrees, he was in good physical condition and had good reflexes. He smiled as he took off his helmet. His black eyes locking on the now milky eyes of Arashi.
"Nice," he said, palming the thing in his hand,"You said, introductions. The name's Gambit, remember it," and sent full deck of cards full of kinetic energy his way. Arashi ran into the train to escape it, the explosions upon hitting the concrete and train leaving holes everywhere. It was a miracle the station was still intact. The other seven people were stirring....

She nodded in agreement, and then heard the explosions... by the time she looked back, however, the man was gone...
Eat... that's what he had commanded her to do. But as she took a bite of the bread, she immediately spit it out. She just couldn't stomach this... she didn't know why, but she couldn't even get it down her throat. It just tasted bad to her... not as bad as some things, but most certainly not as good as that whole-grain stuff that one man had given to her... Still, if this was 'normal' food for people, then why couldn't she 'eat' it? That other stuff she'd had before was still digesting... pretty accursedly annoying, really. It was as if her own body didn't want her 'eating' anything...
Still, she stayed put for a moment longer, not wanting to move much at all for now... still, her curiosity got the better of her, and she poked her head outside, if only to see exactly what was going on... From what little she remembered, this wasn't completely out of character for her, as she rarely listened to others to begin with...

Norton had heard the explosions too as he ran towards them. There was somebody else that was occupying them and he saw the man, dressed in black jump into the train. So he was a mutant too otherwise it made no sense for him to be there. He crouched down below the glass windows that were still left. He looked up to see Gambit holding a few cards in his hands, staring at the train.
Gambit had never been a problem the kinetic energy could easily be countered. But there were some others he had weren't around, but they have to be. He wouldn't be alone here. He looked back from where he came from. Because of the girl, he wouldn't be able to stay and fight.
"Listen stranger, I don't know who you are but if the X-Men are after you, thats enough for me to know you are a friend. I cannot stay and help you. Hope you can take care of yourself. If you do survive this ask anybody around here for Resonator. They will tell you where to find me, after you have shown them you are a mutant", he spoke quickly .
He then put his back to the mangled steel wall of the train. Holding both hands up, he powered up for a shock wave. Turning around and coming face to face with the recovering squad and Gambit, with a surprised expression on his face as he realized what was about to happen. He tried to jump out of the way as Norton leveled both his hands at the group and fired out a shock wave. The group was thrown back into the wall and the wall itself developed circular cracks as the wave hit it. Gambit's legs were caught in the wave and was thrown off balance in the air.
He turned around without waiting to see if he had killed anyone, he certainly hoped he did. That would help the man deal with the group easily. He started running back towards the door hoping the girl had listened and stayed put. He was sure there was a group heading from behind them lead by another of the X-Men no doubt. And it would end up right behind the cabin which was hiding the door for now.
He just hoped it wasn't Cyclops. His beam was one thing Norton couldn't stop or manipulate enough to prevent him from hitting his target.

Jake had to dive out of the way to avoid Dack, who had leaped past him and into the open train compartment. He stayed down as some familiar-looking playing cards hurtled after Dack and bounced off the train. One of the commandos got back up. Jake crushed his windpipe with an elbow, then spun him around and turned his AK-47 on the others, emptying the weapon in a failed attempt to hit Gambit. Many of the other commandos fell dead or wounded.
"Stop dodging and fight like a man, you p**sy!" Jake roared at Gambit. "Or surrender... that's what you Frenchmen do best, isn't it?" The old prejudices died hard, and he often still made racist comments in the heat of the moment.

"What the?!" Remy exclaimed as he took shelter behind one of the columns supporting the ceiling. Who were these sponks? Where had they come from?
Remy was mulling this over and trying to keep his temper in check, but he couldn't resist,"I'm Cajun, not French you..."and proceeded to tell the new one who had taken out his crew what he was in terms I cannot even tell you.
Inside the car, Dack was fighting to kepp his head and he barely remembered someoone coming to him, Resonator? His eyes were glazed over slightly.
"Blast! I shouldn't have did that!" he said to himself trying to get up and barely succeeding. He had used the energy he absorbed, but he was not yet recovered from the temporal leap. He had used to energy in his own body to power the jump and it had almost wiped him out. He was just on an adrenaline rush when he saw Remy....
His head snapped up, suddenly remebering that he worked in pairs. Another mutant who was known to work with him with similar powers to his..what was the name...the Rogue?
Uh-oh, Dack had known he would be in for a fight when he got here, but not this soon. He quickly went over what he knew about the pair, how they worked...and remembered that they loved using pincer manuevers. She was either in the service entrance or in the subway tunnels itself.
Dack knew there were others here now, and he wasn't to let them get caught.
"ALL OF YOU, GETO OUT OF HERE NOW! HE'S NOT ALONE! ROGUE IS HERE WITH HIM!" he shouted at the top of his lungs and began running through the train.
He didn't know that the other mutant had gone this way, but soemthing told him to move, even as he fought his drowsiness. Remy unloaded some more cards toward the old mman and the train, seeing movement inside.
Down the tunnel, a shadow moved over the track, alone. She preferred to be by herself and alone would allow another X-Men or Remy to accompany her. She had heard the explosions earlier and knew that Remy was in a fight. She wasn't worried though, he could handle himself, she just hoped he saved some for her.

He glanced back at the figure running in his direction. Rogue? That made sense. Now the question was whether she already had another's powers or if she was in her own true form. He didn't intend to give her enough time to find out. It might have been totally unnecessary but he wasn't the one to take chances, not while facing one of the X-Men. As he entered the last cabin, he powered up both his hands.
He was thinking blowing out the back of the train along with a possible collapse of the tunnel behind it might deter Rogue if she was in fact approaching from that direction. It seemed like the strategically sound thing to do. He reached next to the door and raised his hands, point them at the back of the car. The recoil, or the aftershock of the wave was something he was prepared to face but the man behind him would be sent flying back, possibly injuring himself in the process.
He hesitated, realizing Rogue could be right outside at this instance. He spoke to the man, "Would you hurry up already?" If Gambit entered the front of the car now, they would be trapped in the middle, a very bad position to be in.

She gasped slightly, ducking back inside at the explosions. Peeking out again, she looked around, trying to figure out just what was going on. There was all this fighting, and stuff blowing up, and, and...
Abruptly, something flat wizzed right for her head, she being able just barely to duck back inside, an explosion following which tore the door clean off. Frightened and alone, she huddled behind some pipes nearby, shivering and whimpering quite a bit... Everything she'd known, whatever little there was about it, frightened her, as she didn't understand what was going on... Rubbing her head against her shoulder to itch a spot, she noticed a sticky something coming off... reaching up through her shirt, she felt the spot where it came from, and looked at her hands... the stuff was greenish-yellow, but then again, all colors around her were that way... still, when she brought it to her mouth, the stuff was sweet tasting, like some sort of sugar.
Feeling her face again, she realized that something had hardened over it, but when she went to pull it off, it hurt too much to finish doing so. Because of her discovery, she'd calmed down quite a bit, her whimpers now quiet against the backdrop of the battle going on outside... She looked at her arm again; the vine thing was still there, though she didn't know what it was. Oddly, she wasn't disturbed by it, simply curious as to why it was there, and for that fact, what it was...
