'Yeah, nice to meet you too,' Chance said, feeling awkward. 'I guess I'll leave so you guys can get caught up and all that. I'll see you later, maybe, Lilith.' He glanced at Mrs. Russell, before turning reluctantly to go. He didn't want to just leave Lilith alone in a situation she was uncomfortable with, but it wasn't his place to interfere in family matters.

*Lilith stared at Chance as he left, wishing she could leave too. Sighing she turned to look at her "family" again. There was another uncomfortable silence before Professor Xavier spoke up.*
"Perhaps we should all go to my office where we'd be a little more comfortable..."
*Everyone agreed and soon they were all comfortably seated, managing to make conversation. Lilith had the opportunity to tell her mother and brother what she had been doing recently while her mother gave her news of what was happening at her old home... After a while, her mother made the decision to go get some rest after the long ride to the institution. Lilith was relieved that she would have some time to think about things... However, as they all left the office, her brother went in the same direction as she did.. Since they were alone in the hall, she thought she should at least take the time to try and talk.* "Adam, you haven't said a word to me yet... I want to know what you've been doing lately..."
"Since when did you start caring about family?"
*Lilith frowned, trying not to get emotional.* "I always have..."
"Yeah, right. Listen, just stay away from me, freak. I'm only here because I have to be..."
*He turned as soon as he could, leaving Lilith even more upset... She took a deep breath and picked up her pace, hoping to find Chance as soon as possible.*

Chance slowly made his way back to his room, lost in thought, or something close to it. He found that Jay was there when he returned, which shocked him a little as he hadn't been around lately. They didn't say much to each other, Jay being himself and Chance being in a state of ponderment so the room settled into a comfortable silence, with the exception of the rustling of homework that Chance was trying in vain to concentrate on.
((And I present to you the longest sentence in history!!!))

*Lilith kept her head down and her hands in her pockets as she walked quickly through the halls... She wanted to cry but she refused to do so, staring at the floor and trying to focus on nothing but getting to Chance. She stopped at his dorm and took a deep breath, leaning against the wall beside the door. He couldn't possibly do anything to solve her problems with her family, and she wasn't about to let him try... Still, he might be able to take her mind off of it for a while... All she knew was that she'd feel better with him... She nervously knocked on the door, hoping that he was there...*

Chance quickly got up and opened the door, glad, for some reason to see it was Lilith, even though she seemed to be in a considerably worse mood than when he left her. 'Hey... ya wanna go for that walk now?' he asked, leaning against the door frame.

*Lilith nodded, managing an extremely weak smile...* "Yeah... although I'm really not hungry anymore so I'd rather skip out on the snacks if you don't mind..."

'Whatever you want is fine.' Chance stepped out into the hallway, shutting the door behind him. He was silent as he started walking down the hall, not sure whther or not to bring the subject of Lilith's family up.

*Lilith felt quite uncomfortable as she walked with him in silence. Finally, she spoke up.* "So... What have you been doing...?"

'Well...' Chance sighed, 'I've been trying to do some homework, but I couldn't really concentrate.' He was silent for a moment, 'You didn't look like you wanted to be left with your family too much and I felt kinda guilty 'cause, well I left you with them.'

*Lilith shook her head, sighing softly.* "I'm glad you left... You shouldn't have to get caught up in this... So don't worry about it..."

'Yeah, I know it's not my business or anything, but I still felt bad,' Chance shrugged. 'So.... what did your mom want anyway?'

*Lilith shrugged lightly.* "The professor wrote her about what happened with that kid... I guess she just decided that after four years it was time for a visit... Maybe she's trying to fix me or something... I don't know... It's good to see her though... I haven't seen her since... you know..."

'Yeah, I guess it would be, though I would be kinda pissed if that happened to me. I dunno. That's just me. We all know how weird I am,' he shrugged.

"I can't be angry with my family... They have the right to treat me the way that they do. I would probably do the same if I was in their position. It's not that big of a deal..."

'Not that,' Chance waved what she said away. 'Just the fact that for four years they've left you on your own and just now decide to come and see you because they got a letter fom Xavier. That's what would make me mad.'
