Scoltun stood up as he saw her walk towards the stream, he knew they might potentially be flying into a trap that they might have already set-up there but they didn;t have much choice in the matter anyway. They would just have to stay on alert. He wore a sleveless T-shirt with two long tears on the back to accommodate his wings.
He simply nodded when she told him what she had planned to do. He opened her wings waiting to follow her. All the while he had been running and hiding from the world, he had never met another mutant, let alone another that could fly. She gave him hope, that somebody maybe he could also stop running and call a place his home.
"Alright, but stay alert. For all we know, they could be already there, waiting for us...", he paused before speaking again, "Do you think you can use your ice powers if the need arose without tiring yourself too much?"
(( Just assume that Scoltun is following Zyphan in your next post. Just to clear something, you want them to escape with Ayden right now or let Ayden be taken to the prison/research lab and try a rescue later? ))

((let Ayden be taken, and rescue later. keeps the story going longer. perhaps on their way to get ayden, they're attacked by mutants kept for the human's affairs, like capturing exiled mutants? just an idea...))
"Yeah, I should be okay now. A little rest goes a long way for me." Flying through the air once more with Scoltun beside her, she thought about what he said. There is a possibility that they could be already there, but that's impossible. Ayden specifically told me that this area would be a great place to hide in, because there's very little room for land transport...Well, we'll just have to be on our guard.
"We should be okay coming to get Ayden. He told me this place was pretty inaccessible by land vehicles. But still, it won't hurt to be careful and keep a watch. We'll be there in a few minutes." She flew steadily, keeping an eye out for anything odd. Ayden's favorite tree passed them, and she instantly became wary. He wasn't there. So what was the jumper up to now? It wasn't like him to not be there, waiting for her...

He flew beside her, keeping an eye on the ground below him. He had a bad feeling about this idea but he kept his mouth shut. He heard her mention that the place was safe and inaccessible to land vehicles. Scoltun realized that they had been flying low which would be bad if there was a trap.
"Let's get some altitude, just in case", he said and climbed up higher into the sky. He looked around again and didn't spot anything out of place. This was they would have a bit more time to react and maybe stay out of range of some weapons they might use. He realized he might just be getting paranoid over no reason at all. But this argument didn't seem to calm him down.
--------
He got worried about why they had stopped for so long but smiled when they started moving towards him again. He put the tracking system back in his pocket and looked up from under the entrance of the cave as the two came flying over the horizon.
(( Yeah I was thinking the same thing, if Ayden does get captured now, we get to stretch the story. ))

"Yeah, it doesn't hurt to be careful." Zyphan followed him up higher in the air, though she felt none of the worry she could feel pulsing through Scoltun. "I'm sure it'll be fine, quit worrying so much. It's practically saturating the air around you." For another minute, there was nothing but trees below the two, but as a rocky out-cropping rose from the tree cover, she instantly became worried as her friend still made no appearance.
Where's Ayden? He should've known I was coming by now... She was becoming a little worried herself, now, and as they flew over the clearing, it instantly became obvious as to why she hadn't seen Ayden yet. "Scoltun, fly up or back the way we came!! The same guys are here, too." Zyphan flew upwards, to the top of the cliff. She hoped that they weren't seen, and that Scoltun had followed her.

He was taken by surprise at the sudden warning from Zyphan but compiled. He thought she must have seen something he had missed. Following her to the top of the cliff after making a loop so as not to lost the momentum, he came up next to her and asked, "Whats wrong? You saw them?" ---------------- The man leading the soldiers frowned and uttered a swear that didn't come as a surprise to the soldiers around him. They had either seen one of the soldiers who was gonna get his head blown off once they were done or they were just spooked considering what they had been through. They were far away but it didn't look like they were going to come any closer. "Fire the nets!", he shouted and was obeyed without delay. Four nets flew off at high speed towards the two intended targets. ((Basically, they are just out of range or can get out of range and escape at this point. So take it away... ))

"Yeah, and I think I know why Ayden never came to greet us." Zyphan leaned out a bit over the cilff edge, and pointed at a sleeping figure under extreme guard. "That's Ayden. They must have taken him while we were being transported." Just then, she saw a group of nets fly at the ledge, but they were out of range and bounced on the cliff face some fifty feet below.
"I don't think we should stay much longer, just in case they find a way to get up here." She turned to Scoltun, and wondered why this had happened, but brushed the thought away. There were more important things to focus on. "We need to get rid of this tracker, otherwise we'll be running away from these guys non-stop. Um...What would you say if I asked you to remove it?"
While waiting for his answer, the winged girl moved farther from the cliff edge, and motioned for Scoltun to do the same. She didn't want to get caught, nor did she exactly want to leave, with Ayden caught as he was. Zyphan didn't even know what to do, really. Her life had just been torn apart, and now she was being forced to flee from people she hardly knew about, just knew they wanted her dead, or for lab rats to study and prod and poke. She shivered at the thought, but turned to Scoltun, these thoughts barely kept in check as the young girl tried to take control of the situation.

Scoltun followed Zyphan's hand as he saw the figure surrounded by guards and in some kind of apparatus, knocked out. He realized it would be fruitless to try to rescue him right now seeing as there were other soldiers nearby hoping they would try such a thing. He saw the nets fly in their direction and hit the cliff edge harmlessly. He followed her away from the edge.
He heard what she had to say before replying, "You are right, we need to get away from here and take out that tracker. I can try to do it but... I will need something sharp to cut it out. Um, lets get something to do that then head to a place where it will harder for them to get to us. Is there a place around here which is probably inaccessible to land vehicles at least?" He could see she was unsure and scared, he had been too at the start, almost an year ago but not anymore.
He tried to reassure her, "Relax Zyphan, we will get through this somehow and find a way to rescue your friend." He didn't know what else to say. To him, there chances were looking very slim but they had to try.

Zyphan nodded, and took a deep, calming breath. "Yeah, I know we'll get through this. Um..." She wracked her brain of places nearby that would be a difficult place to reach, and her eyes found the looming shadow of a nearby mountain. From past experience, she knew there would be a waterfall cave near the base of the mountain, and there they ought to be pretty safe until the tracker was removed.
"Do you see that mountain?" She pointed off in the direction of the giant dirt mound. "There's a waterfall near the base, and a cave some twenty feet up behind the spray. We should be pretty safe there from whatever they throw at us. Shall we gather the needed items and meet up there?" A crazy idea came to her just then, and she decided to risk it, if it was worth keeping them alive and saving Ayden. "I could lead them away from here, and you could loop back around, hopefully unseen, and get what you need. We have a first aid kit plus a few oddities in a hatch in a wall niche... But only if you think we should risk it."
The girl was just below panicking, though it seemed that planning and making it seem as if they were doing something worthwhile kept her from freaking out. It wouldn't be long, though, and she wasn't too excited to have the tracker removed. It would involve pain, and she was never one to be real good with pain.

Scoltun looked at the mountain. Her explanation of the location gave him a clear idea where it was. "Thats seem like a good location. They would have a hard time reaching their without any air support... and they don't seem to have any for now at least." He admired her courage for volunteering to be the bait for the risky plan of getting supplies. He could see some signs that she was about to panic due to the whole ordeal. He knew it would only get worse if he didn't do something to calm her down. But that would have to wait for now, unfortunately.
"I agree its very risky but we need the supplies as well. I think its better iif you let me lead them away while you get the supplies. You are more familiar with your home and will naturally be able to find the supplies faster. Just remember to get a knife and somethings for a fire. Agreed?" He knew if her panic set in while being chased by such a large force, she would be captured easily and because of the deaths of their comrades, the soldiers would be more prone to intimidation and follow him blindly.

She thought for a bit about what Scoltun said. "Well...really the only thing I'm worried about in your suggestion is that I'm the one with the tracker, and if their little tracking device lets me know I'm coming back, then there's no point. It would be a bit tricky if they didn't all leave, though it would be better if I could get the stuff since I know where everything is..."
Zyphan wasn't sure what to do. She liked his plan, but was worried about the tracker, and what problems it would cause. She looked over the cliff again and saw them reorganizing, trying to figure out a way to get up top. "Well, whatever we do, we should be quick about it. I don't want to stay up here much longer."

He thought on that for a while. She was right to assume they would track her if he went. He thought of something before he spoke, "You raise a good point. And yes, we need to think this through before they figure out how to get to us. We can do this, you stay here till I have driven them a bit further. That way, they will think you are staying here and not planning to do anything. You immediately go in and grab the things you need when they are gone. Around this point I will try to turn around and come back to the cave you suggest. I think they will all follow me. How long do you think you need? "

"Maybe five minutes. That should be enough. But..." Zyphan walked slowly towards Scoltun. "Be careful, okay? It might sound a little weird, but if I lost you, I wouldn't know what to do or how to save Ayden or anyone." She knew it was time to get going, so after a few seconds hesitation, she gave her new friend a nod and flapped her wings a bit, telling him she was ready.
"Let's get this done with, shall we? I'll follow you for a couble hundred feet, then loop back, that way they'll think we're leaving together. After you, Scoltun."

Scoltun opened his own wings in response, testing the strength in them before the flight to come. "Don't worry about me, Zyphan. Just make sure you get the things and take care of yourself." He hesitated before continuing, "I can't afford to lose you..." He looked at her for a while, so determined to save her friend.
He looked away after a while, looking around in front of the, and pointed at small hill in a distance. "You see that hill over there? You should follow me till we cross to the other side of it. Then turn around unnoticed and head back here. That way, they won't see you turn around and assume you just flew ahead or too high, out of sight. I will try to keep the man with the tracker distracted, maybe try breaking the tracking unit he might have to give us some time. Good luck...", he said before running off the cliff and spreading his wings to convert the fall into a controlled dive.
He landed on the ground in front of the cave and saw the soldiers in front jump with surprise. This was the last thing they were expecting. One of them tried to fire but was stopped by the tall man behind them. He must have been their commander as the soldier obeyed. Scoltun stood up from the crouch he had landed with a stone in his fist, hiding it for the time being.
The man smiled and took out a small device from his pocket, what Scoltun assumed was the tracker and tried to find Zyphan, seeing as she wasn't down there with him. Scoltun acted quickly and threw the rock aiming for the man's hand holding the device. The rock didn't hit it, but the man dropped the device on the rocks. Not waiting to see his reactions, Scoltun took off towards the hill, looking around to see if Zyphan would join him.
-----
The winged mutant had surprised him. In trying to protect his gun hand, he had pulled it aside but the device had gotten stuck on the cave wall and slipped out of his hand. He scowled and picked it up to see the display flickering. It wasn't completely broken which was a good thing but it was useless for now. "Follow them! All of you, now! I won't lose them again.", he ordered and saw the soldiers heading out over the difficult terrain on foot. He went towards the driver of the truck carrying Ayden and told him to leave for the facility. He then got into a hummer and drove towards the road to find a techy to fix the tracker.

Zyphan watched as Scoltun dived down in front of the soldiers and confronted their leader, and smiled when she saw the tracking device fall. She took off after her friend when he flew back up, and easily caught up to him. "Nice going. I'm sure that will only make it easier for me to come back with that guy's little toy out of the way." Down below, she saw Ayden go off in one direction with the leader as the rest of their attackers followed in various ways. She wanted desperately to save him, but knew that a plan was better than brute strength, of which neither of them had at the moment.
She knew it wouldn't take them long to get to the hill, so she started going through a list of things to get when she came back. "So, we'll need bandages, needle and thread, knife, um...we have some rifles, too. A few M-14s Ayden picked up a while back from a base a couple hour's flight from here." Not sure what else to bring, she looked at Scoltun next to her, though his wings captivated her attention with the colors contrasting her own pinions.
"Can you think of anything else we'll need? I'm gonna grab two small packs as well, that way we can carry all this and more if we ever need to. And food. Food is always a neccessary item to have." Zyphan watched their destination loom closer, and figured they'd be there in another ten, fifteen minutes. Maybe not even that if the wind stayed with them. -------------------------------------- Ayden was still out, though his brain was starting to function again, having realized that they were moving. Images of his past capture and imprisonment flooded through his mind as the tranquilizers began to slowly wear down. It would be another half-hour before he was fully awake, and this had been noted by his previous captors since the jumper seemed not as well effected by the other mutants.
Still asleep, Ayden began a mind journey back to before he was free, back before he had met the female avian, back before he even knew what he was, and why everyone hated him.

He was thinking about what he would need as she went through the list. He was about to add food to her list when she said it. He looked behind to check on the soldiers chasing them. They were still in sight but too far to get a good shot which was why they weren't shooting at him, or so he guessed.
He turned to Zyphan, seeing her fly easily, without showing signs of exhaustion like she had before. He smiled, despite their situation, as he kept watching her fly for a while. "Some antiseptic for cleaning, painkillers if you have them. Some alcohol would do if there is no antiseptic or painkillers. Leave the rifles, they will be too much extra weight to carry and there is too much risk to get caught. Besides I would rather not use them. You should know they aren't shooting at us right now because he aren't that big a threat. If we start shooting at them, they wouldn't be trying only to capture us and would shoot back."
He looked back down at the soldiers. "Ok, we split up here. Keep going ahead at your speed and turn around and go back when you they all get on the other side of the hill. I will slow down and keep their attention on me." He looked back up at her before saying, "And take care Zyphan, ok?"
