Suddenly Karsten felt the reaper enter him again. He got extremely worried, especially about how he was going to explain what had happened since he left.
Before he could think anymore, the reaper was searching through his memory for what had happened. What he found didn't please him. Karsten, you have failed the test. You have failed me. You shouldn't have accepted that poison from this demon. Your body is now corrupted with the same energy we have fought so hard to vanquish from this world.
Before he knew it, the feeling had returned to his body, along with it all the pain. He had scrambled to his feet. He didn't bleed, he guessed the reaper was to thank for that but the pain was just as unbearable. The reaper was dissapointed and angry, he could feel it.
The reaper was now talking through his damaged voice again, causing an unbearable burning sensation in his neck. He turned back to face the demon who had helped him. "How dare you corrupt him? Because of you I cannot use him anymore." He lifted the demon off her feet taking hold of her throat.
Karsten had already decided he wouldn't let the reaper kill her. Let her go reaper, she helped me. I am only alive because of her. I will not allow you to harm her. He knew the demon could hear him too.
The reaper let go of the girl. "If you die now, you soul will be sent to hell, a place where you WILL receive... preferencial treatment seeing as you were the mortal I had possesed. The totures would be far greater for you, greater than any soul may have faced yet. Are you prepared to d**n your soul... to save a demon?"
Karsten was surprised to hear this. What about all the service I have given you? That counts for nothing? The demons and creatures of hell we have vanquished, isn't the torture I just faced enough? You are telling me I would go to hell after so much? And you follow the rules that would allow for this?
"You have no idea how close you came to attaining the highest reward that a mortal can receive. And she stole that away from you. She d**ned you as she is d**ned herself. All I can promise you is that this one act has erased all the deeds you have done till now. At the time of your death, you will be judged like any other mortal, for actions you take from this point on. I have done all I can.
Karsten's mind snapped out of the pain induced daze and asked the reaper, But, how do you expect me to survive with only what you have left me with?
The reaper considered this for a while. It was his fault that Karsten had been left with no eyesight and voice. "You, demon, since this is your doing, it is only fair that you take responsibilty for your actions. The choice lies with you, either you give something to balance what you took from him or I leave him here, like this..."
Karsten realized he had been right. The reaper was going to leave him. Now his fate lay in the hands of the demon, yet again.

Carella snapped back at the retort, infuriated that this so-called 'reaper' was treating the human he held in his hands so recklessly. "You left him to die. What kind of angel does that to any human? I only wished to help him, and I did so, and he is still alive because of it; is that beyond your reasoning to digest? I kill humans for food; however, the child that holds me inside herself was born this way... she had no choice in the matter. Does that mean she, too, being innocent of having me bonded to her, will be d**ned to the lowest depths of Hell itself?"
She turned back, finishing with "I will not atone for kindness... Kill me if you wish, but it will not look good to kill one whom saved your vessel's life, even if yours truly is half your enemy. My poison should have worn off by now... the darkness that came with it will pass soon enough. If you care not for him, then I will. I was trained to help the helpless, ever though indirectly, and this child has taught me many things about humanity. Perhaps you should listen more to the one you use so recklessly, reaper, or it could be your soul I see falling from grace. Even you have your limits upon what you can and cannot do to humans. We of the darkness have none, and I still wish to treat my human half with respect. Why should I refute what was clearly the right decision at the time?"
Turning away, she was disgusted with what she'd heard going on. An angel, no matter who it was, was a servant to humans; even she knew this, and she was a demon. So how was this one being so arrogant, even going as far as to harm a human for 'his own good'? She'd killed humans before, but she was hungry, having little choice in the matter... was it like this with him then? Did this reaper really have so much authority as to simply use humans for whatever purpose he wished? If so, then he was more dangerous than she ever could be...

"You forget demon, I am no Angel. If your host is willing letting you kill other innocents for food, yes you have d**ned her too. That is how it has been. The simple fact that you do not honor the rules is the reason we have this eternal fight." He paused taking a look at the others. He would had to use Karsten again no doubt. None of them had a strong enough spirit and mind to hold him in as long as Karsten had. But the situation was now most unfortunate.
Karsten, he addressed his vessel and let the demon hear as well for it was important she knew, From this instance, you will have my sight. Just as I am able to see through the flesh and see the demon within, so will you. Stay away from them or slay them, the choice is yours. Your voice will heal somewhat, in time but it has been damaged permanently... May the god show you the mercy you deserve.
And just like that he was gone again as the Karsten's body collapsed on the ground. He could see Carella's form nearby but now it glowed a red colour. Karsten got up even though his body resisted his every command, not willing. But his mind held the power and he was determined not to be a load on the others.
He took support from the wall nearby to stand as he conveyed his message to the demon. Thank you again, for standing up for me. I will help as much as I can. Please stay close to me. You are my only sight for now. There was blood in his mouth again, no doubt from the strain when the reaper had used his voice.

Carella, though still angry, stayed near the man, holding his arm as he got up. This angel was imputant, boastful, and brash... three things she hated. "I cannot leave you now she relayed to him, not with you like this, anyhow. Such an insolent being... I cannot believe you actually wished to contract with... him..." Her anger and annoyance were laid bare, as she was not one to diddle dally around with funny words; if she were annoyed, she'd tell the one she was angry with as such.
"Still, we must be going. I certainly hope we do not need to deal with any more annoyances along the way." This time, she was referring of course to those freaks of nature that tasted like poison themselves... Carella merely hunted. That was that. When she was hungry, she hunted humans. Even if she wanted it any other way- and she'd tried before to do so- it was not her choice to make, nor the demon's to question. She followed her instincts, as they'd kept her alive this long, even if it meant the sacrifice of a few to keep many from being harmed...

Servios watched it all, guessing at much that was going on with the two. He had the basic idea of what had just transgressed and if he was right that boded ill for the group. The reaper in Karsten was powerful, and they would likely need him before the end. But if Servios was right, and the reaper had just left him, their collective strength would be dimished greatly.
The ranger grunted and moved off to help Galius scour the place where they felled the demon. He wanted to find the people who did this and take his fair share of revenge on them as soon as possible

He suddenly remembered Servios mentioning his dagger being lost. Tell Servios his dagger might still be glowing, so if he does look in the alley, he might find it easily. And don't he so hard on him. You have not felt his urge to take care of all the demons he comes across alone. But he is bound by the rules, those which even he would be frustrated with... if that was possible.
He paused before continuing, the only thing glowing in his sight being Carella's form. Go ahead, I should be able to follow you... Looks like you will have to be my voice as well, for the time being...

Carella growled but complied... she was an anomaly in a world where most other demons would just as soon turn on a human as ignore them. Carella had a kind heart, and her demon likewise had taken on that aspect. Even if she was d**ned to have the demon inside her forever, she would not take her life any other way. With what little control she was given, Carella uttered something indescript under her breath, then went on about the other business she needed to take care of. "That man?" she inquired nodding towards the ranger, not quite knowing all the names yet, but she was fairly good at guessing. It was a good enough guess for her at the moment.
"Ranger, the angel's ves- er... Karsten states that your dagger should be visible in the alleyway where you last dropped it. I would suggest you make use of that, as we could be in battle at any moment." She was blunt, yes, but it was only the truth. Any nasty looks from him she'd simply shrug off; Carella wasn't one to let lowly mortals get under her skin too badly, though should one pull the right strings they could end up in pieces... if there were any left after she finished with them.

After a long search, Galius' persistance finally paid off. He came upon a small black orb. The orb looked almost as if it was sucking the light from the air, and it was no doubt something Galius didn't want to hold for very long. Searching around, he found a rag, and quickly wrapped it up, he wasn't sure what it did, but he wasn't about to leave it here. He had heard of such orbs being used to conjure the darkest and most powerful demons, that they were hearts of darkness, weapons from the very depths of hell itself. The thought was one he didn't like. Whoever was controlling these thralls, and this demon, he had some major power.
Galius stood up, looking around, the group was nowhere near, nor did he expect them to be. He had always been a loner, and if he had to do this himself he would. They claimed an interest in helping, but he had no expectation of them. Soon enough, however, the ranger came around the corner, and Galius smiled in approval. Of all those around, of course it was the human to help. Galius fought back laughing. If humans were thought the weakest of all the races, why were they always at the forefront of the fight?

Servios returned the smile of Galius, showing his understanding and with that one simple look letting the man know that he was with him in this til the end. Then he heard Carella speak to him, telling him his dagger was not lost, though he knew it surely was. The demon had cast it far over the rooftops, it was not likely that he would find it near here, or likely not ever again. He would just have to deal with one weapon until he found another suitable for him.
"Thank you Carella, and Karsten, though I fear it is lost for good" and after the ranger finished speaking he turned to Galius, "I see you found something there, be it any hint of where we go next?"

Galius walked over, handed it to Servios and then turned away to walk off. He had no idea where to go, or what that was, but he figured Servios would babble on with Carella and Karsten about it. They would do the talking, Galius would do the finding...
He stood silently, the smile had long faded from his face and his normal serious and dark look came back. He was deep in thought, troubled by losing his old friend, his... father, of a sort... He hadn't felt such pain since he lost Eve. That was so long ago, he thought he would never face that pain again. His silence remained, not making a sound, despite gritting his teeth in anger. He clinched a fist. He felt so helpless, no leads, nothing but a burned down tavern and smoldering corpses of his former friends.
Regaining his composure, he leaned against a nearby building, waiting for the others to examine what he had found. He stood much like he did while on duty at Bernie's, calmly, and confidently, despite the rage of thoughts taking toll on his mind....

Servios took the small bundle that Galius had handed him and he felt the evil of the thing as soon as it touched his hand. He unfolded the rag and saw the small black orb, drawing in energies apparently. He assumed it was what had summoned the demon, but he knew not where it came from or who had used it. He was not well versed in any of the arts, and so knew not what to do with the thing. He glanced back at Galius who had turned and walked away, then over to Carella and Karsten. Those two would likely know more about this thing than he did.
"Any ideas?" he asked tossing the orb over to Carella

At first, Carella immediately jumped back, not wanting anything to do with that orb. "You wish to speak of evil, reaper?" she commented sarcastically as she looked in his direction, "Then speak of this."Still, her curiosity, and the fact that she would be the only one to handle it without severe repercussions- as even the reaper himself would surly be tainted by the darkness this item presented- drew her back to it.
Carella let the demon take over, knowing that she would know more about it than her human half would. "From the deepest, darkest reaches of Hades this did come. If you wish it, we might be able to tell where it was taken from. However, there will be a price we will need to pay as such..."

Galius didn't move. The decision was hers to make. He knew very little about the object, but the fact that the arm that held it was in pain right now let him know well enough what it was he held. He didn't budge from the wall he was leaning on, his face still covered by his hat, and his arm throbbing in pain from that orb. He clinched his fist and the pain subsided, finally dissipating into nothingness. Galius wondered what force could be so strong to capture that essence from hell itself... and then weild it.
Whatever it was, he figured the demon would understand what it is, and where to go with the information it held. If she didn't, he'd crush it, and move on....

He 'looked' at the orb in fascination. He could see it through the rag, even through the others' bodies as they handled it facing away from him. It was as if he was staring at a very bright source of light, only this was glowing bright red. It showed to him how much evil was still stored in the small object. If was right in front of him as it was given to Carella.
It felt as if the orb was sucking in the pain from his bodies as well. In any other situation he would have tried to get away from it but right now, his mind was being totured by the pain and he was ready to grasp onto anything that would provide him some respite from it. He snapped back to reality when he heard Carella speak.
What kind of price?, he asked worried about her. If anything were to happen to her now, he would be left incapitated again as well. He hoped the price she had mentioned was not like what he had paid to the reaper.

"A cranky attitude for the next day or so, and the possibility of our slightly less controllable side awakening. Beyond that, nothing horrible besides some pain to our body. Nothing we cannot handle." They both knew fairly well what that 'slightly less controllable' side had done before... but it was a risk worth taking, considering the alternative was to wander around aimlessly. She might have underplayed the pain part, but it wasn't worth getting the humans all worked up over.
"Don't be fooled by it" she said to Karsten, sensing now his interest in the unholy object, "an ordinary human who touches it directly could very well have their soul sucked into it and down into Hell forever. Galius was smart for having picked it up the way he did, though even that would have tainted him ever so slightly; he'll live, though. But we have protection from that, to a point. Its not a toy, is all we are saying."
Preparing for what was going to happen, the demon within Carella sealed her soul around the child's, protecting it for the time being but also draining their collective energies heavily. Gingerly grasping the object, she turned away from Karsten so as to not give him the chance to be tempted into 'assisting' her. Bringing her other hand to it, she let out a small gasp of pain as the dark energies ran through her, but she concentrated all the same. About a second later, she dropped the orb, it bouncing lightly against the ground before coming to a stop. She stumbled backwards, attempting to regain control of herself, hoping the others would be smart and stay away from her until she could shake of the excess darkness within...
