Dreth ran over, blades leading. His jumpy style insured that the demon got hit from several angles, and he didn't. His blades were blurs of motion as he cut into the thing time and time again, while it couldn't do a thing about it. "Got you know you oversized furball!" He shouted as he did a backflip, extending his leg to kick the thing under the jaw before he rushed in again.

Everyone attack the beast wildly, Galius waited. The beast wouldn't go down easily, not at all. Watching them fight, and slash, the beast was weakening. Its blood poured over the ground, and it howled out. Finally with a last ditch effort, It roared out, expelling an aura that threw massive amounts of force at everyone. The goal was to throw them away from him so he could escape. Galius waited, knowing the beast would try and run, and once it did, fired one arrow right into the back of its neck. It fell to the ground in a pile, and quickly disintegrated.
Galius slung his bow back over his shoulder and began to walk back to the tavern, and a pillar of smoke is what caught his eye, the scent of burning timber...
He broke into a dead sprint, once he rounded the corner, he was faced with a sight that made him drop to his knees. Bernie's was on fire, burning down to the ground. The patrons were outside, terrified at the sight, but no sign of Bernie or Forman....
---
Ten minutes ago: A fire burst out on the floor, almost like someone had left a explosive substance in there, and it was enveloping all of the bar in a matter of minutes.
"Everyone, get out of here now!" Forman yelled, grabbed patrons and throwing them out the door through the flames. Bernie, limping to the rooms, began dragging patrons out of the rooms. The smoke had caused many to fall unconscious, and Bernie and Forman did all they could to get everyone out. But, it was too late, as Bernie was getting the last few out, the bar collapsed on top of Forman, undoubtably killing him.
---
Just then, Bernie walked out, burning alive, dying... The old soldier had fought one last battle. Galius ran up to him, putting the flames out the best he could. But it was hopeless. Bernie, scorched and charred, barely breathing, was on his last legs.
"Galius..." He coughed, spitting up blood, "You're on your... own now... I looked out... for you... because... you looked out... for me... Stay alive... ma'boy..." And with that, Bernie let out his last breath. Galius was broken, his eyes shut, his head lowered. The closest thing he had to a father, the man who kept him fed, even if Galius was the reason he made any money... Bernie and his tavern were the only things Galius had left over the past few years, and now they were torn from him. Galius stood, leaving Bernie lying there as the patrons looked on in horror. A few of them cried, many just stood in shock...
"Touching... really!" A pale man said, "We told you we'd cleanse it, the master had it planned. Too bad our distraction had you and your friends occupied. Huh Galius?" The man laughed, his loud cackle roaring out over the silence, "You can't stop us. You can never kill the master!"
Something people had not seen in a long time, Galius turned, a fire in his eyes beyond no other. A terrifying rage expelling from his figure. The pale man stepped forward.
"You can kill me, Galius, but it will not stop the master."
Galius stepped forward, and sliced the man's gut open. His entrails fell out onto the ground, and Galius promptly kicked them to his hands, and wrapped the mans neck in his own intestines. Kicking the man's legs out from under him, Galius carried the man by his entrails, strangling him with his own insides. He drug him into an alley, the howls and screams coming from the dying man gagging on his own entrails. Galius strung him up, hanging him from a fence behind the bar. The man howled, gagged, screamed, and eventually died, bleeding out. Galius just stared at him, waiting until he died, sending a message to this so-called master. Galius was coming for him now. He had nothing left, so he would take everything from them....

Carella was the first to follow this Galius back to the bar, and her human part gasped at what she saw. The demon half was still in control, however, and simply stood there as the man died by his own guts. Walking past him to the bar, she only said "Nice show." as she passed by, looking for remains- erm, survivors that could still be trapped inside. Still, she wouldn't say no to a meal that was beyond salvation... she was hungry after the fight, although not nearly as much as she had been earlier...
The back of the bar had been built upon an old prison, so several of the rooms were only affected by fire damage. Tearing one wall out, she stopped, staring; a small child laid in the middle of the room, crying as she pulled at her leg which was trapped under a collapsed bed. The demon side began to turn away, but her human half could not. Carella stepped into the room, ignoring the flames as if it were merely water rolling off on her, and, grasping the bed, hurled it away with ease. The girl looked up, frightened by the yellow eyes, at least until Carella's soft touch carressed her. No, she could not let a child die like this... not when her mother or caretaker or whatever laid nearby.
Picking up the child, she laid her down outside and examined the leg; nothing serious, just a small cut and bruising. It would heal on its own soon, but she wrapped it with some clean cloth she'd found nearby. Whomever had planned this would pay, and dearly... Innocents being harmed as such was one thing neither side of her could tolerate very well. She could blame it on her human half, but Carella overall rather much liked humans, though they could be stupid and ignorant at times.
Walking back to Galius with the child in her arms, she stood behind him and asked simply "So, what next?" She already knew the answer, but thought that asking him would drive the point home even moreso...

As Galius dispatched the demon from the mortal world with the help of the others, the reaper spoke to Karsten, who was barely holding on, still bearing the pain the best he could. I will have to leave you now, only for the time being. The demon needs to be vaquished from another realm, that which I can't do while with a mortal. Stay alive, thats your test..., he said. Before Karsten could react, the angelic reaper began to reverse the transformation.
The wings disappeared leaving deep gashes in his back, the blood starting to pour out in large amounts now that the magic of the reaper was gone. The light in his eyes died, leaving two bleeding holes. He then realized that his eyes had really been burnt away, leaving him blind. skin on his hands had been burnt to the elbows. He was loosing blood fast and the pain was showing no sign of dying down. He began to wonder if death would have been better than what he felt right now. He didn't know if any of his companions were still around to see him, maybe help him.
But he had to stay alive, thats what the reaper had told him. He tried to speak and call out to the others wondering if they were around. He remembered seeing Galius run away before the reaper gave back the control. He grabbed his neck with his hands not even being able to scream as he felt blood rise up in his throat beginning to choke him and it flowed into his windpipe. He fell down to his knees as he coughed blood out of his mouth, his clothes were completely soaked in blood. He could hear some noises coming from the direction where Galius had gone. He started to walk forward, hoping he would reach someone before he died.
Eventually the toture was too much to take as he collapsed some feet into the alley, a pool of blood forming around him. Only one thought kept going through his mind as he lay there taking possibly his last few breaths, were the others dead or had they left him here?

Carella's ear twitched; a low growl of annoyance came from her throat. "Oh heavens..." she swore, knowing that her human half was being rather silly, but still her demon side was unable to resist it. Leaving Galius where he was, she remembered this spot and took to the rooftops, running along until she was near where the battle had taken place.
She didn't feel the presence of the reaper nearby, and was purposely ignoring the others, but saw its vessel nearby. And what a mess he looked... her human counterpart ached to help him, and the demon could only take so much before finally giving in. Leaping down, she knelt down next to him, not speaking a word. Pulling him up to her, she opened her mouth and bit down quickly, then released a moment later; although deadly in large quantities, her poison could be used to deaden his nervous system and slow his heart rate, giving him an effective means of survival. Her mind connected to his for a moment, saying "Stay alive... I owe a little to your 'friend' that he did not slaughter me upon sight, so to have you die here would be pointless." for me at least her thoughts finished...
She knew that his body would be changed... having such a being inside forcing itself out would surly be a most excruciating pain, one almost unbearable by all but the strongest of hearts. Hopefully his would be as such. Otherwise, she would have to answer as to why he'd died after she bit him... His eyes were bloody holes, holes which she covered with her bosom for now, letting him rest on her for the time being. He would need medical attention and soon, as her poisons would only last for so long... but for now, she simply let them go to work, and once he was out enough she would move him to a better locale, fix him up while he was still too out of it to resist anything...

Galius stood, staring in fury. He began to calm as Carella spoke to him. He turned and knelt down by Bernie, obviously leaving his last respects. Then he turned to the building, and placing his hand on a fallen burning log, he lowered his head, paying homage to Forman, the man who died saving dozens of lives. He turned from the bar, he would leave it behind, and never return.
Servios, still in shock at the scene, stood there as Galius walked by him, Galius slapped him on the shoulder, a sign to let it go. There was much that needed to be done. He walked back the direction Carella ran, seeing that Karsten was in dire need of attention. Walking over, he knelt down by the man's side and inspected the wounds. Standing up, he walked over to the crowd of people. A woman, wearing a long white dress, stood before him. He grabbed the back of the dress and tore it from her back, leaving her naked in front of the crowd. No doubt she was embarrassed, but at this point Galius didn't care. Walking over to where Karsten was, he put his hand on Carella's shoulder, taking over where she began. He pulled out his blade and began to go to work.
Cutting away dead flesh, cutting up the dress and using it to cover the wound and avoid infection. He cut away Karsten's clothing where necessary, applying the makeshift bandages to him as needed. He was not a doctor, but that was the best that could be done for now. He would need a doctor, but this would prevent infection, and at lease quell the bleeding. He made sure to wrap Karsten tightly, and when he was finished, Karsten seemed much like a mummy. The large man would be a bit much to carry, to he looked over to the demon and stuck his arm out, inviting her to carry him.
Walking forward, Galius left the others behind, if they chose to follow, he didn't care. He would make this master pay. Dearly.
Before walking away, he turned to Carella, and responded to her question.
"They die."

Karsten hardly felt himself being moved. Suddenly, he stopped feeling everything, even the pain which was calming to his tormented mind at first. Then he began to wonder if he was dead. He couldn't see anything and was floating in his own body, paralysed. He heard Carella 'speak' to him and calmed down. She had done something to him but he was too relieved to care what it had been.
His mind had gone blank, clear of the pain and any feeling or thought for the time being. He waited, he had no track of time. It was as if his mind was trapped in a dead body.

Looking to Karsten, the vessel, she felt his pain inside her, knowing full well what it was like to have such a rude awakening, but such violence playing out in the process... "Shhhh... you are still in this world, young one" she relayed to him mentally, which was true; she was older than he'd ever grow to be. "The poisons my body makes naturally can kill, as you saw first-hand, but they are also a help when used in tiny quantities... You should not feel a thing for several hours, and when you do, please tell me and I will administer another dose... Whatever happens, stay calm, as your body must repair itself for now."
Her touch was the only thing he would feel, as it was all she would let him feel... the soft caress of her silken hands against his grimy hair, it would serve to calm him further, but hopefully not so much that he's simply give up... "You won't be active for a while, so just rest for now and let nature work her 'magic' on you... That transformation was harsh upon you, and because of it you will never see again. But you are still alive, and for now, I will be your eyes..." It was a hefty promise, but as long as he was still human- and alive for that matter- she could use herself to protect him...
A grin came across her face when Galius said that; a wicked grin of a murderer, but also of one who knew the limits. She didn't even look back to him, continuing to hold onto Karsten. "We both likes that idea."

Thank you... he thought hoping she could hear his thoughts. She had gone beyond what the reaper had expected off her. Although he feared what would happen when the reaper came back and felt the dark energy that would have surely entered his body with the poison from the bite. For a second he feared that the reaper might reject him. But she had saved his life when she could have easily let him die. He wouldn't let reaper harm her if he could.
He felt a hand going through his hair and his body instantly relaxed. Even Karsten couldn't understand why. When she had told him about his eyes, he realized his position. He couldn't see anymore and he was pretty sure his voice was gone as well. Even if the sensation in his hands and the skin grew back, the eyes and the voice was permanent. He was no use , not as a fighter anymore.
The thought came back to his mind, Would death have been better?

It was overwhelming. Servios cursed himself for leaving the inn unattended. He knew that they were targeting them, how could he have been so stupid.
"d**n IT!" he growled as he kicked a burning piece of wood away. Then Galius slapped him on the shoulder, and he knew the signal that the fighter had just sent to him. He must not dwell on this, he must not blame himself, he must keep his mind sharp and his body focused. This was hard to do when he looked at Karsten.
Burnt and torn and bleeding, the young man laid there, cradled in that demon woman's arms. What a horrible sight, such an unfair fate for the young boy. Servios rather liked him, and hoped that he would pull through, for his sake as well as theirs, for they would need all the help they could get, though Karsten seemed like he would be out of the fight in any case. Servios blew a long winded sigh and sent up a prayer to the gods, for both Karsten and this collective that they had seemingly formed.
"I am rather enjoying the idea of cutting off a few heads as well" the ranger said in response to both Galius and Carella "though I lost my dagger with that d**ned beast in the alley... Ah well I shall just have to keep my eyes out for a new one..." and after he finished he walked over to the dark elf. "Will you be joining us? Your swordsmanship would be rather helpful..."

Nearly every head turned to the dark elf then. He was kneiled at the edge of the blaze and shouted, "Why's the rum always gone!" He got up and made his shakey way over to the group of fighters, "Hey mate, you got my full support here. Tell me who to chop and I got your back!"
((Yeah, I'm going for the whole Jack Sparrow thing.))

Galius left it all behind, he began walking deeper into Varamen. He had no idea how to fight this cult, where to begin, what to look for, but something told him the outskirts of the city were not the place. He was furious, his mind wasn't thinking straight. He wanted blood, he wanted them all dead.
He would find them all, and kill every last one of them.

The dark elf stumbled after the man, having a feeling that he was going to be important somehow. "So, where are you headed off to? You got some sort of lead or somthing?"

Another soft touch whisked away the thought, Carella picking Karsten up as she stood. "All hope is not lost... you simply must adapt. Otherwise, you will die." Shifting the axes through simple movements, she turned, easily holding the rather larger man in her arms, her eyes glowing slightly. "Just because your voice is gone and your eyes as well, you still have feeling in your hands, and your ears still function. Its just an idea..." A rather silly one at that, but Carella had learned that humans could turn silly ideas into workable ones.
Turning her head to face Galius once more, she began walking behind him, keeping a respectable distance. "If this one may suggest something," she started, "perhaps we start where that demon last was. Maybe if we sift about, we will find clues here."
Again, only a suggestion, but one that seemed to make the most sense.

Galius nodded to Carella, he agreed. Within a few minutes, he had walked to where the demon had been defeated. He began searching around, slowly. He wasn't going to miss anything, mainly because he wasn't sure what to look for. He inspected the remains of the beast, and there was very little to be seen by a mortal. Perhaps a demon, or someone who could sense the magic that was used to conjure this beast, would have a better lead.
