"Well, since chances are that you've already seen my work, I don't have much need for secrecy, huh? Well, my contract is done, and I have about a month before they come to pay me and give me new work. I don't have anything better to do." She followed him off, having said her reasoning.

Fin followed them in their along the street. He believed he was a good enough distance away that none of them noticed him. He knew their were others about, and they seemed to be spread out. The others that had participated in the battle had scattered, but he felt that they were likely still around, and close by, maybe even watching him. Still, he was in a good enough position that he could likely hear everything that was said with his sensitive eyes, and felt aware enough that he wouldn't likely be caught off-guard. Plus he had heard something of joining the war outside the city, and since he was doing so himself, he'd like to find out more about these curious people he would be fighting with.

He turned around, putting his hand out to shake the woman's hand.
"Name's Mammoth." He said.
Looking over the woman behind him, he could see others flocking to follow him.
"Well I'll be d**ned... Looks like I've started a group!" He said, laughing as he watched others starting to follow.

She took the hand, "Luna." She turned around and laughed with him, I guess people like us tend to draw crowds!"

Pinata extinguished his fireball and waved cheerfully, letting the two in front of him who had just taken notice of his presence know he wasn't a threat. He turned, curious to know whether he was being followed too, and saw someone behind him a good distance away. The light, athletic frame and fair skin and hair of the figure led him to believe it was another Elf. Well, that's interesting, he thought. I wonder how many Elves there are in this city. He waved to the Elf as well, in a good mood for some reason... perhaps because of the promise of an approaching battle.

Fin wore a puzzled expression on his face at the open and seemingly unguarded greeting that the man in front of him just offered. The puzzled expression turned somewhat into a smirk as he shrugged his shoulders and saluted the wizard, then disappeared into the shadows. He headed back to Talin's house quickly and quietly, wanting to tell him of the events he had just witnessed. When he got there, he had found Talin stretched out by the fire, and found that he was suprised to see Fin back so soon. He recounted the events he had seen, of the thugs that the small band dispatched in the street, and the guards attacking the barbarian that had walked out of the tavern and unknowingly been involved in the mess, and the curious wizard who had waved to him. Talin recognized more than one of the warriors mentioned in Fin's story and let out a knowing smile when he heard the tale. "Mammoth" he said to Fin when he spoke of the barbarian, and when Fin only glanced at him confused, he added "the barbarian's named is Mammoth, and the wizard you speak of sounds like the man I met earlier, Pinata, though I am hardly certain that is his true name." Fin was surpised indeed that Talin knew these people for they seemed to be very new to the city. He then told Talin of their wish to join the army and that sparked Talin's interest even more. "Well Fin, you have your answer" and now the sparkle of adventure and fun was in both their eyes "we shall be joining this group on their road to the inner city. I should like to know more about this strange company and I could use a good fight." And after they had gathered their equipment and everything they would need, they started off into the streets, Fin leading them back to where he had left the group, and the two easily tracked them through the snow from there. ((OOC: I likely won't be able to post until late friday night or possibly even saturday so if anything major happens, feel free to involve Fin and Talin as you wish, just don't beat them up too bad ))

And so, Mammoth began his trek, the snow freshly settling on the ground, and his newfound ally, or allies, should the rest keep following, in tow. The cold was biting, but oddly enough, it felt somewhat nice after being cooped up in a tavern, Mammoth always enjoyed braving the elements. Looking behind, Luna was keeping up alright, and the others were still in sight. He figured there would be a following, everyone felt the same way about this war, it needed an end, and one where the tyrants did not win. At least, Mammoth assumed everyone thought the same way. If they didn't it was not his concern.
He would be the vessel to command armies. If the king refused, he would create sects inside the armies. These generals were foolish, at best, the commanders weak. That was why they were losing this battle. With the terrain knowledge, despite weaker forces, Mammoth knew they could get the upper hand. But foolish tactics were leading Korgasa to lose.
His stomach grumbled, and he looked around.
Shoulda ate before I left...
He reached into a pouch on his hip and pulled out a peice of beef jerky. He tossed it in his mouth, knowing it was his last piece, he would have to make more soon. When the night came and they made camp, he would find something to make jerky out of...

Pinata kept following the man and his female companion, who Pinata assumed only looked diminutive because the man she was walking beside was so large, and watched as the man pulled what appeared to be a piece of beef jerky out of a pouch on his hip. I could really go for some jerky right now, he thought, realizing he hadn't had time to step into the tavern and actually get any refreshments before all these distractions had made him forget about it. He kept following the pair that were walking ahead of him, actually gaining some ground (he could move quite quickly when he wanted to), but staying far enough behind so as not to be considered a threat. He had worked in Intelligence, and knew how to follow people... if he didn't want them to know they were being followed, they wouldn't, but he wasn't exactly trying to be secretive today.
He checked behind himself to see if the Elf was keeping up... there was no sign of him at first, but then two Elves appeared around a distant corner and started following. Pinata thought he recognized the clothing of one of them, and wondered if it was the same Elf he had conversed with briefly earlier.
Pinata stuck his arm out to indicate the direction the people in front of him had turned, then followed them around the corner, hoping the Elves caught the gesture so they knew which direction to take. The buildings were getting bigger, and the glimpses of soldiers and nobles in the crowd more frequent, as they approached the heart of the city. Idiots, he thought to himself. It's always the same... put the most important people in the most attention-grabbing buildings. Just once, I'd like to see a general put his headquarters in a run-down old shack. The enemy would pass it by without a second glance, and then we could fall on them from behind and wipe them out in a matter of minutes.

She watched everything from the shadows so as not to be seen, keeping that devilish grin on her face. This place was known for its bandit attacks, and vicious ones at that. All she had to do was wait... wait until they were under fire... and then strike. Oh this would be so much fun! Jodice had the whole thing planned out, and if things were right, it'd go down without a hitch... Oh, these people HAD to be carrying lots of gold and such...
Of course, if they weren't she'd just take their weapons. Surely those would go for a nice price... The market on claymores was rising, and such a large one would surly sell quickly, and for a nice profit! Oooo, how she was drooling over it all right now... how much fun it would be for them all to find out that this perky little 'helpless' woman was, in fact, the one known as the Great River Bandit, the most ruthless robber this side of the Great River, obviously... She would giggle, but then that would give away her position, and that would be bad...

Mammoth kept walking, "Not sure, but this border town ain't it. I'll bet its a few days travel before we reach the capital city, or at least somewhere near it. Korgasa must have been pushed back pretty bad to have a city with nobles so near the the front lines." He stopped, something caught his ear. After all, he spent hundreds of days in the wilderness surviving, if he didn't catch little things, then he would have been long dead. Something was on the rooftops. The shingling scratched along its shoes. It had probably been tailing them, but it had got careless. However, he couldn't tell how close it was, or if it was even a threat, but it wasn't a natural sound. He couldn't make a problem of it, not until he was sure he knew what it was, or that his mind wasn't playing tricks on him... "I plan on finding this king. He obviously doesn't know that money doesn't make people fight, it makes them take it, and desert. If he wants to win, he needs tactics, and real soldiers, not mercenaries." (Sorry pinata, if I messed with what you had thought, but I'm pretty sure if Korgasa is a kingdom, and its anything worthwhile, it won't be a days walk from the outer border to the king's seat, nor would it be ONE city. . I had kinda figured it would take some travelling, be a time for character development of sorts.)

"He is a good King, Mammoth" Talin said walking out from a side alley with Fin to appear right next to the towering barbarian, obviously suprising the group. The duo had caught pinata's signal and took a shortcut to head off the group, "but you are correct, King Arkan is no warlord. Korgasa is a city not built on war,but on commerce, as is the norm for cities around here." the elf spoke as they walked the streets.
"I have lived in these lands for decades, and though many wars have come to these lands, none have been of any substantial force. I fear there is something bigger at work here, for the two kingdoms to turn on Korgasa so unexpectedly and forcefully is most unusual and disheartening. We shall go speak with the King and his generals indeed, and if fate allows we might do some good in this terrible war" and Talin said this all with a grim look.
"So let us make haste, it will be a few days journey to the outpost of the King and his advisers, for he has travelled out to the edge of the battlement, and it is but another day to the front lines from there, I shall lead the way..."

As they walked, the sound of scratching became evident from the surrounded wilderness. Exiting the city left them into a wide open area with nothing but plains surrounding them. In the dark, there was not much to see, but Mammoth could hear something... Someone.
He pulled his blade and held out his arm to the group, no doubt the elves had already heard the bandits surrounding them. How they managed to spot them when it was so dark was beyond his knowledge. Mammoth waited, watching for any signs of the bandits he knew were close by.
"No sense hiding it boys, the big one knows." Said a dark dwarf, coming into view. Within a few seconds, there were dozens of them. Why a group of bandits would travel in such large numbers made no sense. They would get very little of the spoils of each victim. Mammoth kept a close eye on the head dwarf.
"Hand over your gear and nobody gets hurt." The dwarf said, unbelievably confident.
"You want it? Come get it." Mammoth said, cracking his neck in preparation for the battle.
((This will give you a chance to show yourself Swytch))

*yay * About that moment, a chained dagger nailed itself into the ground right in front of the dwarf, followed by a second. An instant later, a cloaked woman dropped from the trees, pulled down by the daggers. The dwarf stumbled backwards as she lands in front of him, her eyes twinkling like stars of death from behind the cloak. "Sorry bud, butcha just happened t' be in my way" her Southern tongue rolled off, almost as if she'd actually meant to scare him with her entrance, but not quite. The dwarf cursed, swearing "Why you... you insolent woman! The Great River Bandit always gets his prey!! Even five of you cannot..." The cloak fell as the dwarf's voice trailed off upon realizing that the ploy was not workin, the woman's face showing clearly, and she was not happy. "And I see ya've tried t' take my title as well. Y'all should know better than to do that sort of thing. Beside, I'd recount your men; might find a few of 'em missin'." True enough, when the dwarf leader turned around, about a quarter of his men laid on the ground, groaning and incapacitated by wounds at vital areas. He stumbled for words as the lady yanked the chained daggers from the ground, recalling them to her hands. "But, lucky you, I'm in a good mood today. So if you turn and leave now, I won't have to hurt anymore of your little boys. I would take that offer if I were you..." Reaching up to shift the bandanna, she pulled it back a bit, showing her piercing deep blue eyes as she recapped "Well? Ya leaving or not?"
