Shade One. Martin Oz White, white lights. A table was underneath him, but he could not feel the temperature. His eyes adjusted to the light quickly, allowing him to note his surroundings as a military hospital. The year was 3108, the Year of Change. He had been asleep for two years. "He's awake." A familiar voice said. His eyes hurt from being used so suddenly, and after so long. He couldn't yet control the rest of his body. His breath felt warm... Something was covering it. A strong metal alloy faceplate was over his mouth and nose, and a number of other metal bits were visible over his body. A pair of loose black pants covered his legs. His feet were in clean, black metal boots. "Martin?" The voice asked. "Oz, can you hear me?" He squinted. "...Jay..." "He's cognizant!" Another voice shouted ecstatically. He did not understand why, yet. He'd later learn that he was the first successful Shade, and that a number of other Shades were being brought out of their stasis at the same time. A leap forward in time landed Martin in an arena. There were a number of nasty looking drones aimed at him. He was the soldier he remembered being. The psychokinetic with a knack for Parkour. The test he was about to endure would measure his amplified powers. His psychokinetics had been amplified to the point of distorting time around him. Like Scavengers, he would be able to dodge limited amounts of gunfire. He went wide eyed when he heard the guns go off, and brought his arms up to block his face. He heard the gunshots turn into strange, low wails. His eyes opened, and the bullets were moving towards him slowly. He lowered himself into a crouch, and jumped. The prosthetics in his legs pushed him above the bullets, which returned to normal velocity and screamed into walls nearby. He put a hand to his face, and winced. Slowing down time took a nice chunk of energy out of him. "You're ready, Martin." That female voice said. Martin looked over and saw Jay stepping into the arena. She was still beautiful. "Ready for...?" He asked, cocking a thin eyebrow. His once bronze skin was now a dull grey, sporadically traced with glowing blue-white lines. He crossed his arms over his chest, careful of the sharp protrusions from his gauntlets. "Combat against Scavengers." She said, looking down to her clipboard. "And freeing humans from their grasp." She added. Her hands trembled on the board, and her voice shook near the end of her sentence. Martin kept his eyes on her. Something was wrong. She drew in her breath quickly, and her skin became a light white. She dropped her clipboard, and grasped her face, clawing the flesh raw. Oz ran towards her. She was an altered human! She was uploading an AI! He threw a fist towards her, but her hand gripped his wrist, straining the metal of his gauntlets. He brought his elbow down on her arm, feeling it give and shatter. The shell of the once great scientist gave a mechanical shriek, and lashed out on him. He had forced it to attack before it had finished uploading the whole way. He sent three quick kicks to the Scavenger's chest, all of which were blocked effortlessly. He felt a strike hit his chest, and swatted the fist away quickly. He jumped over the Scavenger, who turned around at the same pace. He hit the ground in a crouch, and sprung upward, sending the sharp blades of his gauntlets at the shell. Time slowed. The scavenger had drawn back it's fist, and was about to strike Martin in the head. Martin drew his head to the side, and brought the claws of the gauntlet across the throat of the scavenger. The body fell back, and a slight electrical discharge filled the air. Martin stood over the shell for a moment longer, panting. His hands shook with anxiety. This was his first kill in just over two years. He badly needed a cigarette. Shades were free in their complex to walk around, and weren't under any more scrutiny than the average soldier. Soon, they'd be shipping out to launch attacks on a number of Scavenger stations. Now, sitting in the mess hall, Martin gripped a picture of Jay taken before the experiment. The two were together standing at opposite ends of a hallway. He shook his head, taking up his matches from the table and setting fire to the picture, before tossing it into a small vacuum-powered waste hole near the exit. He walked down another brown-grey corridor, staring at the massive bulkhead that lead to the courtyard of the base. Outside was much different. Vast miles of desert with a few fortresses breaking up the monotony. Beyond that, the Scavengers had their own sanctuary, similar to the one Martin stood in now. The bulkhead gave a loud steamy hiss, and creaked open. Oz took a deep breath of the warm, dry air and stepped out into the blinding light of the desert.

In his lab he was quite content. Far out in the middle of the desert, he worked on his latest invention. Regenerating armor plating. He gave several irritated clicks as he heard a scavenger banging on his six inch titanium door. "err....I fix you good!" He muttered as he triggered the EMP that was set on the door. He chuckled as watched the thing fizzle and hit the ground over his camera feed.
The building didn't look like much but a thick hunk of concrete. In actuality it was a fortress with foot and a half thick walls, with thick steel beams designed to augment the defences the place could offer.
He kept working as the small patrol of scavengers moved by his sanctuary. Slash didn't know why they even bothered anymore. It was obvious that he wasn't a human. Maybe the just thought that he was as different from them as the humans. At least they were smart enough to stay away from the door.....well, most of them....

"Good to see you, Oz," The camp armorer said, waving him over. "I've got the kit you requested ready to go. We're running some tests on higher velocity rounds, stuff that can pierce armor easily."
"Hrm." Oz said, walking towards the armory and picking up an MP7, taking the clip out and popping it back in place. "I think I'm good for now," He added, sliding he MP7 into a somewhat bulky thigh-holster. He picked up an M4A1, taking the clip out and using it to turn a screw on the side of the gun, slipping the barrel and breach forward; peering inside. He blew on the gun to clear away any sand, and checked the slide. He shut the weapon and tightened the screw again, popping the clip into place and raising it to peer down the sight.
"Looks good." Oz said, lowering the weapon and wrapping the sling around his shoulder. "Grenades?"
"Got a few ancient M60's, smoke, and a couple incendiary. We're gathering resources to start production on the EMP grenades." The armorer said.
Oz nodded, picking up two smoke grenades, and a few spare clips for the M4, sliding them onto a bandolier. A couple pistol-sized clips for the MP7 went into velcro pockets on the thigh-holster. Looking curiously down the range, he took the MP7 from its holster, flicked he safety off with his thumb, and fired two shots downrange into a metal figure supposed to represent a Scavenger. The bullets cracked the metal and broke out the other side. He flicked the safety on, spinning the gun on his trigger finger, and slid it back into the holster.
"Cool." He commented, grinning slightly under the metal facemask.

"Nice shooting," Eveline said from behind Oz. The two of them hadn't known each other before becoming Shades -- except, perhaps, by reputation, since if she heard the name Martin Oz she would recognize it -- but now, they would likely be deployed together.
"Mind if I give it a try?" she asked the armorer, who nodded. She selected an ancient-looking Glock, probably from the twenty-third century, and slid a clip into it, then fired twice into the metal chest. The armor-piercing rounds did the same thing they had for the other Shade.
"Interesting," she said, looking at the gun as if not really seeing it. "I wonder, if these rounds were set on fire, would they do more damage?" As she said this, she picked up a miniature flamethrower and a couple of incendiary grenades... she also slung the shoulder strap of a battered old AK-47 over her left arm and across her chest.

Rick ran out, also a new shade, to meet Eveline and Oz. "This new lifestyle is going to be interesting..." He said to the group.

Oz glanced over at Eveline, nodding a greeting. "Thanks." He said, quickly doing a one-over of his kit, and looking up at the comment.
"On fire?" He asked, pausing shortly, before taking note of her choice in weaponry. "You can control fire, I take it?" He asked, looking over to Rick and cocking his head to the side. He shrugged a bit, finally.
"Same life, new toys." He said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Never thought I'd say it, but it's good to be able to walk again...."

"Yes," Eveline said. "I've always had an affinity for fire... now that my latent abilities are revealed, I know why. She looked from Oz to Rick, then said, "So, I control fire. What do the two of you do?"

"I seem to be able to stay alive- a lot. Making me great for espionage. My favorite thing to do is sabatouge."

"Maybe we'll work together sometime, then," Eveline said. "I like blowing things up, which is a form of sabotage."

A blur moved passed the group, so fast they could not even make out what it was. As it came back it looked as if it would plow right into them, but instead it flew up and over them, to come landing on the other side. It stopped there, and it was seen that it was a human, a shade apparently, one that could move extremely fast. He carried a sword strapped onto his back and pistols holstered at his hips. He turned and flashed a smile to the three that were gathered...
"Name's Zett" he said with a grin, "I think i'm to deploy with you three?"
He was obviously a bit of a showoff, but he seemed like a good enough guy, though he might enjoy being a shade just a bit too much...

((Just a side note, but you still got to post a profile. No need to delete this one, just make the profile)) Back in the middle of the desert, Slash was feeling more or less the same way. "Sucess!" He hop skipped his way to the test subject, his new body. He pulled out a standard hand gun and fired on the body several times, clicking in glee as the bullets were quickly meshed in with the metal to repair the hole and damaged systems.
"I am genious!" He shrieked as he began the data transfer, sending him into a new body and turning the old one into a practical helper monkey. The body looked almost exacitally the same as the last one, with the slight diference of the improved armor plating.
Now was the time to work on the next great experiment! A mobile energy shield for the wandering trooper! Well, it would be if he actually forked for someone. No matter! There was work to be done!
Ten minuites and he had already had an accident. The device had detonated, sending him flying across the room to smash into one of the concrete walls. He slowly got up as his armor began regenerating. He swore loudly and began firing on the remains of the experiment with a handgun.

Confounded blither-wakers... No. Blasted Hamargian chumps... No. Dangnabities of Crapieness?
No, no, no. They we're all wrong! None of them made any sense. What so ever. Oh, why couldn't she just spit out a good one already.
Good spitting couldn't-ers?
WRONG! Horrorthetic. Pathible... Wronorrorthetic.
Gosh pauperfuls! Couldn't she just say a normal insult like the rest of the people here? Just call him stupid and get it done with...
What? He left?
A confoundulated Eee stood, looking around, a crease of worried anger wrinkling her brow. Her lip puckered itself out and around into her mouth, and her eyes squinted and scrunched themselves into slits. She was frustrated, beyond belief. Any other shade wearing this emotion would most certainly look very menacing and scary but her, she looked ridicularious, as if she just ate a very sour lemon. People had told her that, and then turned away laughing, which only made her more flustered. It was a viscous cycle... a visciourious cycle indeed...
But, now that wasn't the worry for her. It was that flabber-gasted Maulhosen that had just dumped a bunch of garbage in her arms thinking she was a cleaning lady. She did manage to throw one insult at him, but he only gave her a weird look and mumbled something about the degrading hiring standards that this place was getting. If her had just remained there for one moment more, he would of gotten a mouthful from her. And she would put him in his place. She was sure of that.
Now, one thing to understand here is that, when a girl like this goes into a rage like so, it often happens that she doesn't pay the attention needed to the surroundings around her. And even if that said girl is enhanced to be an elite killing machine, such times tend to anullulate any previous upgrades to them. Having said this, her next actions should seem more reasacusable (reasonable and excusable). Yes, the girl happened to pull off something stupid and, yes, it was with the group of shades now congregating.
It was his fault anyway.
Eee, innocent, was just passing through (the middle) of the group of shades, too absorbed in angry thought to care about manners. She would be able to do this successfully, if that retarbulated fish monger didn't choose to prance right in the way of her at that time. Yes, the one who just announced himself as... Fett, was it? He happened to, just at that time, appear right in front of her. Of course, ensued the classic move of crashing into this person, resulting in, at least her making a spectacular fall.
"Watch it you ham-backed lardulator!"
It was an instantaneous reaction. As soon as her bum hit the ground, she would say this, no matter what would happen to her.

Slash was practically growling as he dragged in the fried scavenger. He needed parts, and he was running out of suplies really fast. He may even have to make another raid! No no no.....no time for unpleasent thoughts.....
His arms split, and all four went to work disassembling the thing. A few minuites later he had all the parts........except one. The emp had fried one of the main components he needed. He resisted the urge to destroy the thing right there and then, but was struck by sudden motivation as he started putting the parts together into a different configuration.
"This may be best idea yet!"

"Lardulator?" Eveline asked, raising an eyebrow. "I think I fought one of those once. Newer-model Scavenger design, right?" She said this with a completely straight face, as if there were absolutely no humor to be found in the situation... indeed, there was a rather creepy faraway look in her eyes as she spoke.

((OOC: Sorry about that, just getting the hang of things around here... thanks for the help and patience people ) Zett gave Eveline a curious look at her comment. He wasn't sure if she was being serious or joking around, he decided to just smile and nod, then turned his gaze upon the girl that had just fallen on the ground... that he had just knocked on the ground with his clumsy way of showing off. He stood, his cheeks turning a bit red at the realization... "Erm.... sorry about that" Zett said in a very flustered manner. "I get a little... uh... carried away sometimes" the smirk disappearing from his face quickly, now he just looked very embarrassed. He quickly stepped over and helped the girl up off the floor. "I'll try and be more careful" and he smiled a little bit at that. "And who are you?" the young sword wielding Shade asked the girl...
