She glanced in the same direction Xavier was focused. It was hard to ignore her own eyes, that was true. There were corpse like figures plodding ever onwards. Nonetheless her mind was reeling for another explanation. Victor Frankenstein had brought the dead to life with the use of science, right? There must have been some kind of reenactment here. Electricity had indeed been known to reanimate dead tissues, a difibulator for example. But it was always temporary... And she had yet to come up with some sorry theory for the other two that were engaged in combat with these rotting things.
That was a matter for another day. Tearing away from her momentary fixation, she glanced back up to the munching man. He knew her name and she'd never seen his face, an unnerving realization. "Surprise only happens when you haven't a full understanding. I don't like my ignorance brought to my attention either." She reattatched the pistol to her coat lining, apparently relaxing in Cavalier's presence enough to remove the immediate armament. She kept her distance, though, passing him at a wide circle and rummaging through the felled produce until she found a half-crushed box of cigarettes. "Thats not really a matter of concern. At least not for me." She hastily opened the package, snorting irritably when she tore the lid off by mistake. "What is would be how you know who I am. I'm pretty sure I don't owe you money." Kyra's keen eyes examined several of the white rolls, tossing them to the ground when they were unsatisfactory, until she came to one that was decent. It took a lot of effort not to bite the filter off once she got it into her mouth, but she managed. She wasn't a habitual smoker, but she was starting to become overwhelmed with stress and her quitters drive dissipated in its light. She didn't bother to set the tip aflame, just the faint flavor of nicotine was enough.

Hand extended, Xavier flipped the lid off of his zippo and offered a light. "No, you don't," he said. "But my employers do, and as I stated, I'm here to keep you from ending up like those," he said, motioning towards the horde of zombies yet again. Seeing that Kyra was not taking the light, Xavier lit a cigarette of his own. "So, do your best not to get yourself killed, if it do please ya," he said the last part of the sentence in a faux southern accent. Xavier clearly wasn't from Georgia. His speech had no accent to it at all, really. He blew a smoke ring, then puffed the rest of the smoke through it.

"I'm pretty sure I don't have much need of a Georgia Peach as a body guard." Kyra hissed, the words muffled somewhat with her lips closed tight around the cigarette. "And if your employer wants me around so bad they could have just kidnapped me. It'd be a lot cheaper than hiring some..." She inspected him during a pause. "... mafia man." Her eyes followed the path of Xavier's smoke, the craving for one of her own twisting in her stomach. "I certainly don't plan on dying, but I'm not quite as fragile as I look." She held her hand out to him, palm up, insisting on the lighter. Granted the manners associated with actually asking seemed to elude her.

Xavier flipped the zippo open and danced it around her cigarette for a moment before lighting the cigarette for her and snapping it back shut. "Of course you don't need me around; shutting yourself in shops with open doors has worked fine so far, right?" He paused for another drink of sprite. "Besides, I'm not supposed to take you anywhere...yet. I'm just here to make sure you stay alive on your way to wherever it is that you are going." He tilted his head back and exhaled twin jets of smoke from his nostrils.

She frowned and shut her once open hand into a fist, but relaxed soon after and took a drag, releasing the smoke all in one breath. "I was supposed to meet someone here, but either they moved on to Atlanta or had their brains spooned out." She shook her head twisting the cigarette between her fingers thoughtfully before biting down on it again. "Aren't you supposed to know that?" A sly, derogatory smirk brought back her customary overconfidence.

"Just seeing if you'd be honest with me," Xavier said with a grin. "So who was this someone? And what exactly were you meeting about? Tell me you weren't trying to find a solution to this mess."

"I don't really care enough about this mess to travel from LA to deal with it." She crossed her legs and leaned back against the counter, tapping the cigarette against the edge, a snowfall of ash fluttering to the floor. "As to the nature of my meeting, I'm not sure you're authorized to that information. I don't know who you are nor who you're working for."

"and you accuse me of conspiracy," Xavier mused. He looked out the window, noticing a group of zombies inching to within a distance to pay attention to of their store. "Well, you may want to start caring," he said pointing to the door where the zombies were beginning to congregate. They were pounding on the glass of one of the window panes, and before long, it shattered, allowing them to climb through the store front. "How could those two miss these?" he said. In retrospect there were only five zombies...
Xavier casually drew his glock and pointed it at the nearest one's head, with one hand. He thought it was rediculous how often you saw people using two-handed pistol stances nowadays. He fired five shots, and five zombies landed in a pool of gore. Xavier casually re-holstered his pistol and sat up on the counter top to avoid staining his $500 dollar shoes. "Still not need the protection of a Georgia Peach?" he said in a faux southern accent.

Kyra heaved a heavy sigh, the fearful flush that had come to her cheeks and neck fading away as the threat was eliminated. Her gun was in her hands, but she hadn't even released the safety by the time those... things had crumbled into re-death. She took a few quick steps back, avoiding the creeping puddle of fluids that approached. With a huff she looked up to Xavier, scowling. "I don't know if I would have been unable to take care of that. I have 12 rounds." She pushed away a lock of hair that sweat had plastered to her forehead and looked mournfully to the floor. "Sonuva..." Her smoldering cig, only three quarters burned, was snuffed out by the blood.

Adrian left the last of the zombies to the werewolf and headed inside. He sheathed his word and straightened his coat, then walked through the broken front door. "Well now, what have we here?" He examined the former-zombies in passing, then looked at the two people nearby. "As I said earlier, my name is Adrian. What might you two be doing in a run down town like this?" He scanned the store quickly, then let his gaze settle back onto the two people. "And how did you survive all this?" he said to the frail-looking woman.

Her head snapped towards the door again and sneered. "I survived by ingenuity." Kyra's body stiffened, reverting to the jumpy state it had been in before. She saw what this Adrian man could do and, as a result, didn't much trust him. Without taking her eyes off of the Iceman, she pat about the counter hoping the box of smokes was still there. "Honestly... Why couldn't I have been this much of a guy magnet in high school when I actually wanted the attention." She muttered under her breath, pulling the cigarettes forward into her line of vision.

"Ingenuity huh? Better than other methods I suppose." Adrian walked to the back of the store, careful to keep distance between himself and the frail-looking woman as she didn't appear too trusting of others, and started looking through the coolers. Stopping at one end, he flipped open the door and reached in. He slipped a couple of bottles into his coat pockets...a couple of bottles in each pocket that is. The last bottle he withdrew, a bottle of water of all things, he kept out instead of pocketing. He then generated some blue fire around the bottle, instantly chilling it. "Ice water anyone?" he said with a smirk. He walked over to the store counter and left a $20 bill near the register.
Adrian walked back to where the two people were standing and leaned against one of the more stable looking shelves. He eyed the man curiously, then looked back at the woman. "If this is the kind of guy you attract now, I don't think I envy you. But regardless, you still haven't said why you're here. And I'd like a name to call you if you don't mind; both of you." He glanced back the man. "I'm here to find a way to end this madness, if that's at all possible."

"Dr. Jennings would suffice for me." She put a f*g in her mouth and eyed Cavalier wondering if she'd be able to pilfer his zippo. "And that there..." She jutted her thumb towards her body guard. "Is Miss Scarlett." She folded her arms across her chest and leaned back looking at Adrian with a seering sideways glance. "Granted I don't see how you'd be putting an end to the problem. From what I've seen you're amoung those that aggravate it."

"Oh, now that simply won't do at all," Xavier said, lighting Kyra's cigarette for her. He put the zippo back in his pocket, finishing his sprite and chucking the bottle behind the counter. He looked to the man who had just entered, then down to his chest again as he retrieved another cigarette. "You know my mother always used to say, 'Scarlett, you get you them tattoos and ain't no one gonna take you seriously.' At the time I paid her no heed, but I'm beginning to think she may have had a point," He said as he stuck a cigarette in his mouth and lit it.

Kyra grinned a bit pulling the cigarette from her mouth. If nothing else, the Cavalier's future as her errand boy looked bright. "You should try getting a real job and making her proud." She said with a cool composure, a not-so-subtle display of her protest to his protection.
"Adrian was it?" She turned to the other fellow. "I'm sure I'll regret this... How, dare I ask, do you plan on fixing this dilemma? As important as refreshments are, I don't think they'll prove to be the differance between victory and defeat."
