O'Connell likewise ventured out further and brought back a couple of other bags. There wasn't much in them, a few books, a portable DVD player which was completely ruined, and a Playstation Portable, likewise ruined. He cracked his knuckles and looked over at Kassia, who was idly busying herself looking through some wreckage. The sun was high overhead, dragging a bit to the west. He could feel his skin starting to burn. Hopefully someone had brought some Aloe or suntan lotion. He thought about how strange it was to be thinking of his skin at a time like this. It didn't bother him much, usually. He just didn't want sunpoisoning to set in...

Jason, a computer nerd who never ventured outside except to go to work, was feeling the effects of the sun much more strongly than O'Connell. He set to work searching his remaining bag, but nothing that could help a sunburn presented itself.
He swatted at the back of his neck when a fly bit him, and it occured to him that they needed to start confiscating medications when they found them in bags. "If you guys find any bottles that look like they might have antibiotics in them, let me know," he said. "We don't know what kind of tropical diseases these bugs might be carrying." He thought he might have already mentioned the risk of disease, but he wasn't sure. Sometimes, he could be a real space cadet.
Suddenly, something fell out of a tree and bounced off of his head. A coconut... his last thought before blacking out was that he was not going to let a f**king coconut kill him.
(OOC: I'm making all of my characters lose conciousness so my absence won't slow down threads while I'm on vacation. Everyone will wake up when I get back. I decided to play Jason's injury for comic relief, hence the coconut.)

O'Connell's first instinct was to laugh, until Jason fell over. "sh**," he said. "Get him into some shade, fast."
Kassia watched the coconut fall, but said nothing. She smiled slightly and quickly. Then she helped Sully move him up to the lean-to.

Karina took a swig of water, then moved up into the shade with O'Connell and Kassia. "Did you guys have any more luck of finding anything? This heat is making me want to go swimming, but not while the water is still full of blood and bodies." She noticed a few fins slicing through the shallow surf. "And also sharks."

O'Connell sighed. "not really. We're looking for some Aloe or something to help with sun poisoning, if you can keep your eyes peeled," he said. "Also, make sure this one's still breathing from time to time." He watched Kassia closely, and make sure she doesn't get him alone he added silently.

"If you wouldn't mind, my ankle is starting to hurt pretty bad...I might stay here for a bit and ease off of it a little." She took a seat next to Jason, and noticed a small lump on his head. "I'll watch him, if you want. I know how to protect myself with a gun, and I think Jason still has that knife..."

"no worries," he said and took off to look after some more supplies. He took a look at the gash in his leg. There was a little pink around it, but he couldn't tell if it was from the sun or from infection...
Kassia stood at the edge of the lean-to, looking out at the Ocean. After a while, she said: "I think I'll help out Sully." And she followed after him, unnaturally quiet.

"Just be careful, and please be back before the sun sets!! I don't want to be here when...you know...the wolves come?" Karina hollars after the retreating O'Connell and Kassia.
She looks to Jason, and wets a cloth, placing it on the lump and taking a bite from a not-yet-ripe banana she found earlier.

O'Connell came back a short while later, carrying a sack that contained some foodstuffs and a large bottle of aloe. "How's he doing?" he asked.

Jason groaned as he awoke. He looked around, but couldn't see much from his lying-down position -- just an endless stretch of beach to the south and west, an endless stretch of jungle to the east, and an endless stretch of female legs to the north, which he recognized as belonging to Karina because there was a splint on one of them. He heard O'Connell's voice say, "How is he doing?" and answered for Karina, "I feel like someone used my head for batting practice, but I think once I get some Tylenol or something I'll be fine."
He tried to sit up, but felt his stomach lurch and immediately resumed his former position on his back. "Did you find any other survivors?" he asked.

Karina shook her head, and noticed that there was a significant lump of Jason's head. Rooting around in the first-aid kit found earlier, she found a small bottle of Tylenol. She handed two to Jason, then sat back and looked up at O'Connell.
"Your back is getting roasted, you know. Have a seat until the sun dips lower in the sky. Kassia!!" Karina waved to her, hoping to draw her attention. "Come out of the sun!! You're gonna get cooked out there!!"

((I'm gonna jump in. I didn't see any discussion thingy, so.... yuppers, here I go! My character is a 17 year old girl with amnesia.))
She woke up to a female voice hollering not too far away.
"Hello?" she whispered. Her throat hurt too much to talk above a whisper. She tried to sit up, but the pain in her head made her groan and lay back down.
'ok...' she thought 'pain in head, that's not a good sign....'
She took a deep breath and slowly brought herself back up into sitting position. She grabbed her head and groaned loudly at the pain. She tried to bring herself to sit Indian style and noticed a long, deep gash going through her jeans into her leg. It looked like it had scabbed over for the most part.
"Hello?" she said again, louder. Her head was spinning from the effort, but she knew she had heard someone.

Jason gladly accepted the Tylenol -- his medication of choice, since anything with Aspirin in it exacerbated his nosebleed problem -- and sat up with considerable effort. "We need to find a cave or something," he said. "Shelter from the sun, until our bodies get used to it."
A voice called out in the distance. At first, Jason thought it might be the man who had been hollering for a girl named Sarah the previous day, but then he realized it was a female voice. "Did you hear that?" he asked Karina, who was the next closest person to the sound after him. "It sounded like someone shouting over there." He pointed south, down the beach.

Kassia looked at her skin. It was starting to pinken, but nothing too unbearable. A snap in her peripheral vision, and she saw one sitting up. She cocked her head, and stalked over to her. This one was petite, much like the other girl. Not good for food, unless she was desperate.
"hello," Kassia said. Her voice had an icy ring to it.
O'Connell dumped out the contents of the bag he'd found and handed the aloe to Karina. "Good to see you awake, Jason," he said.

"Good to be awake," Jason said. "I'm kind of sick of getting hit on the head with stuff. Hey, is that aloe? Awesome."
He got shakily to his feet and looked down the beach. He could see through the trees here -- they weren't as thick this close to the water -- and got a glimpse of two people. One was sitting, and the other was standing. Even from behind, Jason thought he recognized the one standing as Kassia. "We've got another survivor," he said. "Hopefully Kassia will bring her over and introduce us once she's done visiting."
