It is the fourth age of the world. The kingdom of Mordor has fallen and King Elessar ‘the elf-stone’ (Aragorn: Ed.) Sits on the throne of Gondor with Queen Arwen by his side; resurrecting the Line of Kings. Faramir is now Steward in name only but remains prince of Ithilien and in marriage to Eowyn of Rohan.
Rohan still stands. With Theoden dead its rule passed to King Eomer; He will marry Lothiriel princess of Dol Amroth daughter of prince Imrahil who still rules Anfalas.
Legolas prince of the woodland realm leads an Elven colony in Ithilien; its forests, a home to many refugees from the fading land of Lothlorien. Galadriel is gone; the burden and power of the Elven ring Nenya has diminished, and with it Caras Galadhon ‘city of trees’. She has sailed for Valinor.
Thranduil (Legolas’ father: Ed.); is still king of northern Mirkwood; at least for the present time, and king Bard of Dale still trades with erebor ‘the lonely mountain’; now under the rule of Thorin II.
Gimli, as promised; returned to Aglarond ‘the glittering caves’, beneath Helms deep. His people have been hard at work for over ten years crafting an underground mansion; it will take many years of labour to complete these great works.
The lands are safer, yet although Mordor, Dol guldur and Isenguard have been largely cleansed; orcs and trolls still wander in scattered tribes and deep delvings. There are still nomadic and sedentary Easterling peoples, Khandish mercenaries and Haradrim clans also.
Dorwinion still makes fantastic wine… etc… etc…
