Gareth looked over in the direction of the twig snap. Putting his hand on his sword, he prepared himself to draw it quickly if he needed to. And of course, Lilah really had no reaction besides a small glance in that area.

*Gilihen began growling fiercely in the direction of the noise... As if right on cue, a figure leapt out from behind the trees, followed by a few others in other directions. Laera, slightly confused by the sudden noises, immediately lifted her staff, prepared to defend herself. She heard the unmistakable sound of bladed weapons being drawn... These creatures, whatever they were, definitely didn't sound friendly. A crunch of leaves on the ground near her let her know that someone was approaching her. Gili barked and Laera immediately struck out with her staff. She could feel the vibrations of the wood as it slammed into her target, and soon after, she heard someone hit the ground. She didn't have time to linger on it, for another foe was fast approaching.*

One of the bandits leaped out in his direction, and he struck at them with his sword. Another one came at him, startling Lilah's pony. He tried to go after it, but was stopped by another bandit... they just coming man... ((Now I'm getting kind of lazy... sry)) So after cutting a few down, and seeing that the woman was ok, he started off after her. She hadn't gotten very far. Gareth found her on the ground, the pony nowhere to be seen. "hey..." he knealed on the ground next to her, "are you allright?" he looked at her worriedly. Carefully picking her up, he started back to where the woman was. ((I don't believe Laera told him her name...))

((Nah, she didn't. And she won't until he asks... Stupid untrusting people... )) *Laera managed to hold her own very well, the worst damage being where a dagger had ripped the sleeve of her shirt, barely cutting her arm. The sounds of battle decreased and Laera could hear what few opponents were left retreating. She relaxed, but only a very little bit.* "Gili?" *A bark let her know that the dog was fine. It was then that she remembered the other two victims of the attack. For a moment, she wondered if Gareth had been with the bandits... But then she heard him speaking in a worried voice, most likely to his sister. He heard his approaching footsteps soon after.* "Gareth...? Are you and your sister all right?"

"I'm finding out now." He set his sister on the ground, and started to look her over. "Anything hurt?" he asked her, but of course, she didn't answer. Giving a sigh of defeat, he started poking spots on her back, and arm, the areas where she had fallen, watching for a reaction. Seeing a small flinch, and wince, letting out a small whimper, he knew she was hurt. "I wish you would just tell me these things. It would make everything so much easier..." he sighed again.

*Laera frowned, listening to Gareth and the child.* "What is it...? What's wrong?"

"She's hurt her arm... Infernal horse... " he sighed again, and rubbed his eyes. "This makes things difficult... and the d**n pony ran off..." he was muttering to himself, "I'll have to go get it before something eats it..."

*Laera sighed softly, debating on whether or not she should just go on her way or stick around...* "The pony can wait... How bad is the injury...? I mean, is it broken or cut or just sore...?"

"I'm not sure. I've never had to deal with broken bones before and I can't see any scratches..." he shook his head, "taking care of a kid is NOT easy..."

"I wouldn't know..." *Laera gently set her staff on the ground before kneeling down. Trying to find a girl by poking her with a huge piece of wood wasn't exactly smart... She crawled slowly until she was close enough to hear their breathing. Crawling made her feel so weak and pathetic but she didn't see what choice she had.* "Maybe I can feel something that you can't... Give me her arm so that I don't accidentally hurt her..."

"here" he gave the woman her arm. "Maybe you can find out what it is."

*Laera gently and carefully ran her hands over the child's arm, glad to finally know that there was indeed a girl there... Her enhanced sense of touch helped her a little although she was no doctor and still not able to detemine exactly what was wrong.* "I think I can feel a break right... here..." *Her fingertips paused over an area.* "But I don't think it's a complete one... The bones would have moved more if they had snapped and we would both be able to tell immediately... See how well she can move her arm..."

"Well, you heard her. " he said to Lilah, "don't over do it, just try to." She sighed quietly, and moved her arm a bit. It hurt her, and she could move it well enough with pain... but not as far as she usually could.

*Laera released the girl's arm as she moved it and listened carefully, wondering what could cause a child to be so quiet, even when she was in pain.* "How is it...?"

She didn't say anything, just winced, so Gareth had to answer for her. "it hurts her. I can't tell how much, but it hurts. And she doesn't wish to move it."
