((Please pm me before joining... I haven't really decided on a time period so it's open for just about any character...))
*Under the shade of Gondor's greenest trees, Laera walked along quietly, listening to the sounds of the wood. Birds were singing in the limbs above and the wind rustled in the leaves. Laera's sensitive ears picked up on all of these noises and more as she made her way through the trees, her wooden staff in hand. By just looking at her, most people wouldn't be able to tell that the woman was blind... Her light blue eyes usually stared straight ahead but every now and then they would flicker toward the sky or some nearby sound. Even without sight, Laera knew what was going on around her. The weather was clear so the sky was blue and the sun was bright since it was so warm on her skin whenever the trees allowed it to shine through their branches. Her dog ran around at her side, quite happy to be enjoying the beautiful day. However, Laera's peaceful walk was interrupted after a while. She paused when she heard something large moving in the wood. Her dog barked and immediately drew closer to her, waiting to see what approached...*

Gareth walked through the woods, as his sister Lilah trodded ahead abit on her pony. He sighed as he watched her. It had been nearly 3 months since she had come with him, and there had been no change in her. It was nearly a year ago since their parents had fallen ill. And during all that time, she hadn't changed from her quiet self. His attention was caught by something up ahead. Gareth thought he saw some movement, and quickly passed by his little sister to see to it. When he had left the woods, he saw a woman and a dog. "hello there..." he said to her.

*Laera held her staff tightly as she stared in the direction the voice had come from... A man's voice... She thought she had heard hooves as well... Was he on a horse? It sounded smaller than a horse.* "Hello..." *She was uneasy and tense, wondering if this man was friend or foe... and wondering if he was alone. Beside her, her dog continued barking, waiting for his owner to show some sign that things were all right... His barking made it difficult for her to pay attention to any noises that could help her... Her head briefly snapped in his direction.* "Gili, quiet!" *She turned back toward the stranger as the dog reduced his barking to growls.* "Who are you and what are you doing here...?"

"I'm sorry if I startled you. I am Gareth, and coming up behind me is my sister Lilah. We were just passing through this forest." He gave a slight bow.

*Laera was silent for a moment... He didn't sound like he was lying... Slowly, her grip on her staff relaxed a little. She gave a brief but friendly nod. Gili stopped growling and she could hear him cautiously moving, probably to study these new strangers...* "As long as you're not a thief or bandit, we have no problem then..." *She could hear the hooves again now that Gili was quiet... Definitely too small to be a horse... Pony perhaps? That must belong to his sister... Her unseeing eyes looked in that direction before flickering back to where she could now hear Gili sniffing the male stranger...*

Gareth just stood there as the dog sniffed him. "Nice dog." he watched it, but moved to grab onto the reins of Lilah's pony, and hold it steady. Lilah just stared ahead at the women, as quiet as she ever was.

*Laera shook her head lightly.* "He's harmless now... Gili, come... Don't bother them..." *She took a few careful steps forward, ready to retrieve the dog if he didn't listen to her... She used her staff to make sure that there were no trees or logs in front of her.*

*is she... no, I don't want to be rude.* "what are you doing out here?" he asked as politely as he could, watching as the dog went back to her. The pony started to get bored apparently and started grazing.

*Laera hesitated a moment, not sure how to answer...* "It's where I live... As is every other forest and field in Gondor... Unlike most people, cities don't suit me..." *She reached down and gently pat Gili's head, her eyes still focused in Gareth's direction.*

((I just thought of something. How are we going to keep them together? They met by a passing chance. How will they stay together?)) "Ah, as am I. I'm a wanderer, I have been since the age of 17. My sister is knew to it, but I think she's getting the hang of it." *Atleast, I hope she is. I get barely any answers out of her, and she never speaks unless she has absolutely has to..*

((One of them could get hurt somehow... If Laera gets hurt, she's blind and crippled with no one to care for her until she's better. If Gareth gets hurt, he can't properly care for Lilah until he's better. And if Lilah gets hurt, someone has to stay with her while the other one gets food and stuff... There's plenty of ways for people to get hurt in this situation... Laera tripping over something... Lilah's pony rearing... Orcs or bandits...))
"Hm... It doesn't take long to get used to... I've been out here since I was 17 as well..." *Odd that we already have a lot in common... Laera paused a moment, her head turning in the direction where Gareth's sister supposedly was. She hadn't heard much from that direction, besides the munching of the animal as it grazed... She grew a little suspicious at the silence, wondering if there really was anyone there...* "From your sister's silence, you'd think we were alone..."

((OMG, Lilah should get hurt. The pony should rear because it's frightened by orcs or bandits. )) "Yeah... I often get that feeling. She's barely spoken a word for close to a year now. She has no opinions, and only answers me if she absolutely has to..." He looked at his sister.

((Whatever ya wanna do. I'm up for almost anything. ;D Bandits would be easier for Laera to fight. Orcs might be a little too aggressive and harder to scare away.))
*Laera nodded slowly, wondering if he was telling the truth or not. If he realized that she was blind, he could easily take advantage of that to trick her into believing anything... She frowned slightly, her eyes not moving from the area where the pony was... She didn't like not knowing what was around her...* "I should be going..."

((They could have heard Gili barking and Gareth and Laera talking and crept up and surrounded them in the trees while they were occupied... Laera would've been too focused on Gareth to hear them until now... And now would be the perfect time for them to ambush the group before they split up.))
*Laera nodded.* "And the same to you and your sister, sir..." *She took a few steps back before turning around and starting to go on her way again. However, after just a few feet she paused, hearing the cracking of a twig... The sound hadn't come from Gareth and Lilah's direction...*
