Seeking to join a PbP RPG, but have problem.

Hello all,

First, please let me say I am new to the forums, so if I am posting this in the wrong place, please forgive me (and let me know).

I’m here because I have a problem I am hoping y’all can help with. I want to join a play by post RPG game, and I am having a Terrible time finding one I like (and/or) one that will have me.

Sounds easy, right? Wrong.

Here’s my problem. When I do PbP I really like to play more unusual races (Minotaur, Centaur, Gauth etc) and maybe put a spin on it (Currently, in another forum, I am doing a PbP as a pacifist minotaur mage, for example  ) – I have a custom character that is a human who was joined by accident with a gauth as well, lots of RP possibilities.)

My problem is that I can’t seem to be able to really find ANY PbP games that allow for exotic characters – they all have the same (tired) rules on choosing a player race (One of the Standard five or so, Ork, Dwarf, human, elf or half elf – YAWN!) and just won’t let anything unique be considered. (Not to mention many of them seem to do nothing but battle! I would like to, you know, Roll Play – in character – and not just hack/slash)

So I am wondering (and again, if I am doing this wrong, sorry, as I am posting a message like this on a couple of forums.) does anyone out there know of any PbP groups that will allow more exotic races? And if so, how do I go about joining up and getting involved?

I really like D&D rollplay and have lots of time to invest, but I want to join a group where I can play the type of character I want to.

Can anybody help or offer advice?

Hey bro,

This is a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants community. Players make the RPs, and I am sure atleast a few people would be willing to play more exotic characters, and exotic rps. Just set it up, and they will join!

You can join Psychosis if you like ^^ I'll pretty much allow anything that doesn't have multiple forms (no shape shifters please >.< ) so yeah, just read the discussion, then make char that you think works, run it by me, and we'll get you in

Hey, minotaur. I am about to make a free roam Paladium based role-play (Very similar to that of D&D) and I would be my character I use to actually play with, a Minotaur Mercenary. I tend to rip people's limbs off when aggravated or bored. It usually tends to be the latter.

Though, I would not let you be a Pacifist Minotaur Mage because Minotaurs have no magic energy whatsoever. Neither do Bearmen. Though, if you'd like to be some other class that wouldn't involve magic, then I'd let you ^^

I enjoy the more exotic races as well, seeing as the options between Human, Various Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs is getting quite overused.

Yeah, this site's pretty lenient as to which races you're allowed to play. We even have an Ice Phoenix that wanders around between threads. ;D

But if you're looking for other sites, and you're into Harry Potter at all, you mentioned you like centaurs and we definitely need them on Honorable Hogwarts (s12.invisionfree.com/Honorable_Hogwarts/index.php). It's a Harry Potter RPG for grown-ups (kind of HP meets Grindhouse).
