* Use correct punctuation as much as possible. You don't have to get every last little comma right but try to use periods and question marks appropriately. * Spell everything correctly as often as you possibly can. A few spelling errors aren't bad every now and then but at least attempt to get the words spelled correctly if you're unsure about how to spell them. * Use capitalization! It drives a lot of people crazy when everything is in lower case letters. * Be descriptive. This gives the reader a better image of your character, the setting, and your character's actions. It improves character interaction and makes it a lot easier for other rpers to come up with good posts in response. * Try to post things that are easy for people to respond to. Don't just post something and leave other rpers with nothing to say in return. Not many people like having to start the action all the time. * Have reasons for things. If your character is insane, let us know why. If a building blows up, let us know why. Having random things happen for no reason at all doesn't usually work out well. * Don't focus completely on your character. Having a plot that all revolves around one person can be boring. Leave a little attention for the other characters involved so that they don't feel left out and get bored. * Don't speak for or move characters that aren't yours too often. This tends to offend people if you overdo it. * Discuss things with your fellow rpers and get their opinions on the plot, the character interaction, etc. * If you need help with something, just ask! No one's going to jump out and bite you if you ask for help. And if they do, tell me and I'll give them a spanking or something. Anyone who has their own tips can post here. Good luck!

*Paragraph. Learn and love that word! While posting long post's (or short) please please please (I'm begging you here!) write in paragraphs. Cause it's plain insanity to read one HUGE paragraph of around 11 lines. Its very taxing on the mind and eyes.
*Try to post something quite 'open'. Especially the end of yah post. That way, makes more room for the other rp-ers to pop in.

* Type in third person, not first person. Like instead of saying, "I walked down the hall and picked up my cat" say "She walked down the hall and picked up her cat."

* Try to avoid one sentence replies if possible. This are sometimes hard to respond to or can just be a useless post which is spam.

* Try to be as descriptive as possible. Like for example, instead of saying
"He walked over to the sofa and sat down."
you can say
"His restless eyes darted over the room and its occupants as he decided whether he ought sit down. Seeing that no-one was being openly hostile to him, he warily sat down on the sofa. Ever ready for any sort of attack."

Being descriptive helps other rpers out a lot. Like if you're describing a room, they know where to find your character, where they can sit down, what their characters could be looking at, etc. If you're describing your character's actions, they know a lot more about how your character reacts to things, how to approach your character, what your character's thinking, etc. It's just like if you were blind and had to walk into a room or talk to a person. You'd want to know as much about what's around you as possible since you can't see it yourself. Now that doesn't mean that you have to go and describe every last little detail down to a crumb on the floor but just cover the important stuff to make things a little clearer in the minds of your fellow rpers.

*feverently* here here!
*Try to stick as much to the plot. Unless its non-existent *snickers* like in my threads!

* I never thought I would have to say this but... Try to use complete sentences! And since some people don't understand what godmoding is, let me clarify that here too.
*Don't have characters that can solve every problem, defeat every enemy with ease, and/or use a bunch of powerful stuff. It's really annoying... Solving every problem doesn't leave much room for exciting events, defeating every enemy easily just leaves no drama and no real action, and using a bunch of powerful junk just makes your character seem superior to others and once again takes away from excitement, drama, and action. Remember... Everyone has flaws and weaknesses, no matter who they are or where they come from.

Im new to this forum, but not forums completely, but everytime i join a forum, my avatar never works! Its very annoying. I was wondering if any of you could assist me. It looks dull having replies without an avatar. Thanks.
(p.s.) Also i was looking at the rpg's taking place,(some very good stories, and RPers, i should say) and many of them want your profil for your char. But when i double click the names i see nothing in that profile to do with the rpg. Am i just not looking in the right place? If not how can i alter mine? I have gone and edited my own prfile, as you can see. Which part is looked at for your current rpg?

The character profiles are in the character profile board. Clicking on a name just gives you the member's profile. If you want to alter yours go to the profile link at the top of the page.

Now that doesn't mean that you have to go and describe every last little detail down to a crumb on the floor but just cover the important stuff to make things a little clearer in the minds of your fellow rpers. She stepped barefoot into the room, left foot first. Thoroughly savoring the soft texture of the magenta carpet between her toes, she decided she would enjoy having that feeling on her right foot as well. So she took another satisfying step onto the luxurious carpet. Suddenly, she spotted a miniscule, beige object on the floor, that looked nearly circular, but not quite. Pondering this new discovery in her mind, she came the the conclusion that this object required closer inspection. She crouched down to pick it up, bending her left knee slightly more than her right knee, and secured the object between her index finger and her thumb. She stood up to her full height once again, and brought her hand to her face, for the purpose of examining the beige object at a closer distance. And I have now become bored, so you'll all just have to be in suspense about the fascinating details of the crumb.

Did you check the "use custom avatar" box? If you did... Then I'm not sure.

2 things.
Yeh i did click the box. I ALWAYS have trouble with avatars.
2nd thing.
A good tip to being a good RPer, is to SHOW UP AND RP SOMETIME! I am in quite a few RPs where NO ONE hardly responds. The only ones moving are Earth:Underground and When the Humans Came. The rest are on infinite pause or something.
