"now?..." she sighed, "I guess... though don't expect too much, I'll probably be really bad."

"Yes... Now..." Mammoth said, annoyed. She didn't seem to understand just how dangerous this was going to be. The last thing he needed was to carry around a child through this, he hoped she'd get things together once he started training her.
He took out his hunting knife, planning to use that to train her instead of his sword. He figured his blade was far too intimidating and a bit too dangerous. Mammoth's first step was to show her how to hold the blades, the way to hold her wrists so as to not break them, and so forth. Once she seemed comfortable enough with that, he moved on.
"Now, if ya gonna be attacked, ya have to be able to defend ya'self. Step one of using two weapons is to learn to cross defend." He raised his arms and showed her, asking her to do the same, "When someone with a large enough weapon strikes, ya can catch it between your blades and send it away. Granted ya ain't gonna be as strong as most soldiers, it will slow their strike, and ya can redirect the blow."
Mammoth then stood with his knife at the ready.
"Now, I want ya to practice. I'm gonna come at ya, and I want ya to block it." He said.
He gave her a moment to get ready, and then stepped forward, coming down with his knife overhead at about a quarter speed.

She really didn't want to do this, it went against everything in her nature. It was difficult to imagine fighting or doing any form of violence, especially if she wasn't really in danger.
But she said she would, and she had to. So she raised the blades in the way he showed her and hoped it worked.

Mammoth stopped the swing short of the blades, as if he didn't he would have cut into her head. She raised them, but didn't watch or put focus on aiming them. Mammoth shook his head.
"Look... I know ya don't wanna do this..." He paused, looking her in the eyes, waiting for her to make eye contact, "I can't watch out for ya in this... Not all the time... If ya don't learn to fight, ya will die, not might... Where we're goin', if ya can't defend yaself, ya'll die... If ya don't put ya heart into this, ya won't know how when ya have to."
Mammoth stepped back and raised up his knife.
"If ya miss this time, I'll cut ya... Don't miss."
He went half speed this time.

She was scared about the idea of being cut and tried harder, but this wasn't her thing. She tried though, and hoped that she could do it.
Kirin watched from not far away.

Mammoth's knife clanged against the blades and stopped. He pulled back and smiled.
"Good." He laughed, "That was good. A little fear goes a long way. Don't let anyone fool ya, everyone's scared durin' a fight."
"Again... Don't let up, I'm not gonna, and neither are our enemies..."
He swung a little harder this time, he wanted her to feel the pressure.

She gasped as he attacked harder. She really didn't have the strength for this, atleast not enough strength to stop something like this.

The knife clanged against the blades twice before she turned her head. The blade dug into her shoulder, not to terribly deep, but enough that it would hurt and bleed a good amount. He stepped back, giving her a moment.
"Get up." He said, raising his knife into the air, "Get up and stop my knife!"
He swung again.

She didn't think she could stop it, so instead she dodged, which she knew should could do. Glacia was quick enough to move out of the way and miss being hit.
Kirin was at attention and ready to go as soon as she smelled blood.

"There ya go!" Mammoth yelled, coming forward after her, stabbing forward with his knife, forcing her to dodge again or block with the blades.
"Improvise!" Mammoth said, he was intentionally short arming the blows so that he wouldn't hurt her further, seeing if she would try and strike back at him in the fury. The blood had been drawn, that was enough to get her going....

Glacia kept moving back quickly till she hit a tree, bu quickly dug a blade in to use to hoist herself up into it's branches and out of the way of his blades.

Mammoth stopped and smiled.
"Good job." He said, noticing how awkwardly large this tree here was. He didn't notice it from a distance, but in the commotion of the training, they got closer to it. He looked back to the campfire to check their gear. It was still where it was supposed to be, there was no sign of anyone else. He looked up at Glacia.
"Come on... Lets get a look at that cut." Mammoth said, the tone of his voice trying to calm her back down. He got her blood going, he made her learn her first lesson, and found that she was a good bit resourceful at avoiding getting hurt.

She looked a little unsure, hoping the training really was done for the day... But she couldn't stay up there forever and had to come down.
Glacia hesitated a bit before dropping down off the branch, landing on her feet as she looked at Mammoth. She put the blades away as she stood and Kirin came over to her, checking on her cut.

He patted her on the non-injured shoulder, taking a look at the cut on her other shoulder. It wasn't too deep, but it was bleeding a good portion and needed to at least be dressed. Mammoth reached into his pack and pulled out the soft cloth he bought earlier.
"I'll wrap the wound for ya."
He got out his flask and dumped a little water on the wound, wiping it with his hand and then beginning to wrap it. He went around her shoulders and up around the neck to finish it. Once he was done, He cut the remaining bandage, the bandage covered the wound and gave pressure to allow it to scab and heal. Mammoth nodded at his work.
"That pain... That fear... Don't forget it. It'll be a lot worse if someone else does it. Ya did good."
Mammoth turned around and walked away from the tree and Glacia. He headed down to the smoldering fire and gathered up his gear. He took a swig of his flask before he capped it and put it back in his pack. He took the remaining bandage that he was holding and he put it in his pack. The survival pack was pretty big, and resided on his left hip, it had plenty of room for more stuff, so it took a few seconds for Mammoth to arrange things so as to not move around. He slung his sword over his back and put his helm on the hilt.
Once he was all packed up he stepped on the fire, but as he was about to call Glacia to get moving, he looked back up at the tree. It was opposite of the one lone tree Mammoth used for firewood, and it was much larger. He didn't notice at first, but it had flowers at the base of it. Something was different about it, and curiosity compelled him to check it out.
Walking up the base of the tree, he inspected the ground and the tree itself. Knocking on it, he could feel it was hollow. A rather large root was going down the middle of where the flowers were growing. Mammoth knocked on it and heard it wasn't hollow there.
"The hell?"

Glacia was relieved that training was done, and her wound was feeling better already. She hoped that there would never come a time where she'd have to fight, she really feared that she couldn't protect herself... She had Kirin, but that might not be enough...
She sighed softly and wrapped her cloak around her shoulders before moving over to Kirin, wanting to just relax and get a ride.
Glacia had just gotten on Kirin's back when she saw Mammoth walk over and start tapping a tree. It was pretty odd to see someone tap a tree, she really didn't know what was goin on.
