This is another of my crash or burn ideas that came about while gaming with a local group of friends. We've actually played out quite a bit of it already. If you're interested, fill out attatched character profile.
In 2454 a group of scientists accidentally stumbled upon the Nether, a dimension of bent space that suddenly opened worlds of possibilities. With no real understanding of this crumpled space it seemed that it would count for little until the first experiment was made, and it's results were viewed. At this time, ships that traveled the solar system were not uncommon, and it was one of these ships that sent back the message. Putting together the strangest ship of it's time, and preforming frighteningly complex calculations, they launched it into the Nether with a robotic crew. They were dissapointed in the beginning when their feat had no notice, but the next week this vanished entirely. On the news, one of the mars captains claimed to have discovored a ufo that they had as of yet failed to enter. The scientists nearly shouted in joy when they realized....The captain found the ship not even ten minuites after they launched it from earth.
Six hundred years later and the galaxy is in a war of sorts. At 2910 the first Holy Galactic Empire arose, quickly gaining the loyalty of dozens of new worlds. Though there were the few that still had no desire for an Earth or Religion ruled government. Heated debates were the start of this conflict before the full blown spark of violence arose. With neither side gaining ground, the Empire unleashed the Knightmare frame. A new weapon the took the apperance of human shaped mecha. The worlds that these new Knightmares were deployed to quickly fell in line as advance forces were cleanly wiped out, the inferior main battle tanks and air units standing not even a small chance. Forced with retreat or death, the rebels chose the former, heading for uncharted space to escape the Empire.
Soon enough the Empire sent out ships to find the hiding places of these rebels, and were soundly defeated by the fleets the outsiders bound together. Salvaging Knightmare technology from the wreckage, the rebels developed innovations of their own, and managed to push the empire away. Faced with the inevitability of their personal victory the rebels began squabling amongst themselves, each wanting to lead the new alliance. Ten clans split from their combined army, and this effectively defeated their chances of eliminating the threat from the Empire altogether. As the ten clans continued to devide amongst themselves over the next hundred years the Empire worked itself into a galactic super power, with none of the individual clans able to stop it.
Now there are dozens, maybe even hundreds of clan structures scattered on the outskirts of Empire terretory. Among the most infamous are The Wolfpack, The Yakuza League, Metal, Dark Ones, and the newly arizen clan Black Star. While they seem to all serve their own agendas with constant fighting, Black Star holds the only true Unification movement, having converted nearly a tenth of the smaller individual clans to the cause of either eliminating or controling the empire. And thus our story opens looking in on several week old Black Star recruits. Fresh out of training, and with the safetys on their guns disabled.
All mecha are standardly equipped flight packs, sensors, rollers, and guns. The way it looks and performs is up to you.
Pilot Name:
Pilot Apperance:
Weapons:
Background:
Mecha Nickname/Model: Leave blank if undesired.
Mecha Apperance: (Don't be surprised if art comes from every corner of the internet. I'm not expecting to see a single source.)
Mecha Type: Heavy, Medium, Light, Scout. Heavy mechs are the equivelent tanks, strong but slow moving. Medium mechs are at the balance between firepower, mobility, and armor. Light mechs are incredibly agile with less armor. Each of the three types are evenly matched in their own ways. The Scout types have built in stealth generators and commonly tend towards silent/deadly weapons, but suffer in armor even more than the Light models. Scouts have difficulty standing up in a fair fight.
Size: An average mecha is 15ft tall. Larger and smaller have been known to exist, though 50 footers are the basic limit due to incredibly high costs.
Generation Number: The "Level" of the mech. You start as 7th. 10th being the highest with 5th being the lowest. Yours are custom and better than usual due to the fact that your characters supposedly aced the pilot exams.
Arnament (Italics are mandatory)
Head:Sensors and output
Torso: Cockpit, Additions could be stealth generators, surprise weapons, ect.
Lower Torso: Power source*
Back: 3nd teir Flight Pack**
Shoulder L: Open
Shoulder R: Open
Arm L: Open
Arm R: Open
Leg L: Landspinners*** Otherwise open
Leg R: Landspinners*** Otherwise open
Max Spd: To get speed, take 30(Your Flight pack level times 10) And multiply it by 1 for heavies, 2 for mediums, 3 for Lights, and 4 for Scouts. This is mostly for reference.
*Power sources are heavily armored. If ruptured an auto eject is initiated before the explosion.
**Flight packs currently range from 1st to 5th teir.
***Landspinners are the mecha equivalent of rollerscates. They alow the mecha to move at speeds of up to 90mph depending on a combination of mecha type and flightpack. Heavy models lack these due to common malfunctions related to weight.
Weapon ideas are left to your imagination. I trust you all enough not to overly limit yourselves or godmode. By the way, it's lightly based off of the series this video was made of. Lightly.
Weird, anyone else see the freakish add over there?
