*sry, was everyone waiting on me? my brain keeps wandering... that and i have like three others that i'm doing at the same time, plus a game, plus cleaning out the crap on the other comp x-x
knight: shouldn't you, ya know, kinda lead her off the pile of crap that could collapse at any moment? XD*
"Naltarin, but its usually shortened to 'Nalti'." The man had mentioned something about fire earlier, and seemed intent upon making his own, given that he hadn't asked her for help. Izuket could make one easily enough, as he had earlier, but it wasn't her that was going to be eating raw stuff. Then again... this one had been nice to her, and fed her some tasty fruit.
In the end, the girl said a few indecipherable words to the demon, who quickly whipped up a good amount of wood, set it up the proper way, and then lit it all ablaze before returning to its master, the purplish cloud plopping atop her head as if it were going to eat her brains. Using the cane for support, the young lady sat down in front of it, able to feel the warmth radiating from the blazing pile. Again, her gaze wandered to the spot where she'd seen that aura, though now her position was different, and whatever or whomever had been there was no longer visible...

As Galius watched, he could now hear them talking, and once they had exchanged names, Galius quickly moved from the shadows out of sight. Soon enough, Typhon came down from the sky near him, and circled him, almost asking to head back near the fire and the others. Galius shook his head, and the eagle quickly agreed, taking flight to the air and scouting ahead of him.
Galius had left the forest again, and now the thick night left most of the plains not easy to see. The night was far too dark to see and travel in, so he decided that he had no other choice than to set up camp. He didn't head back to the camp with the two others, he sat down next to the edge of the forest and then began his own fire. Soon enough the fire was warm enough for him to heat some stones under. Once the stones were heated in the fire, he laid them under the dirt below him, and slept on the warm stones. The eagle, Typhon, again came down to enjoy the fire, and watch over his master.
In his dreams, Galius found himself holding his blades high above his head as he cut apart two human women. The dream didn't bother him, but once he awoke the following morning, he wondered what it all meant. His hatred for humanity, was it materializing? Galius cracked his neck and rose to his feet as the dawn rolled in, walking away from the fire which had long burned out. He looked around for the two from the night before, and once he was satisfied they were not in sight, he began traveling again...

Cross looked up as the woman answered and replied, "Cross..." He got back on slicing the meat in thinner slices so it will cook well. He glanced up as he saw the demon starting the fire. Once the meet was done, he picked it up and walked towards the fire. He laid down the thin meat slices on the sticks directly over the fire while he laid down the other slices on the hot stones to dry them up or cook later. He looked at the girl and said, "It should be done pretty soon. Were you hurt anywhere Natli during the collapse? As he talked, he had looked up to see the eagle had gone.
He walked back to the rubble to a certain place and the daggers broke through the brick and wood. He reached down and pulled out his cloak and just the dust off it as he walked back. The pile they had dug out of was too risky to go near but then thankfully he had not dropped anything there.
He bent down next to the fire and checked the meat. It was almost done. He walked towards a tree with rather large leaves, fresh and clean from the rain before. He broke off a few and brought it back to the small camp. He took off the meat using one of them and cut them into manageable pieces. He piled one of the large leaves with pieces of meat and walked towards the girl. The leaf was big enough to occupy her lap. He laid down the food on her lap and spoke, "Careful it's hot. Don't need to hurry, there is plenty more if you want." He then took the other half on a leaf and started eating it quietly while sitting of a stone next to the fire. There was more cooking on the fire as soon as he had taken down the previous batch.

"No, I'm quite fine. But thank you." Oh, that meat smelled so good, but she knew not to reach out just yet, lest she burn herself. When she was handed the piece, Nalti took it carefully, but the look in her eyes told that, once it cooled down, that slab of meat would be gone very quickly.
Truthfully enough, Nalti had devoured it within a few minutes, even though she'd been careful not to make too much of a mess. Her tiny stomach could barely take all of it, but she forced it down even when it had filled her to the brim. Full for the first time in gods only knew how long, the girl laid down, the purplish cloud providing her with a head rest for the night...

Cross watched as the woman laid down after the meal. He continued to cook for a while longer. It wasn't safe to leave meat lying around so close to the camp. He then cleaned up the meat pieces he had left for the eagle, burying them in the ground to avoid attracting scavengers during the night. He fed the fire and then quickly made a dash into the forest to get some water. He took the woman's pouch that was lying empty next to her as well and filled it up. When he came back, he left it next to her again.
He crossed his legs as he sat on the ground, closing his eyes, his breathing became slower and regular. The bladed whips emerged from under the cloak he was wearing again by now and began moving lethargically in front of him in a sort of crossed wave motion.
((Sorry, hope you don't mind me taking liberty with the water and stuff. Just thought will accelerate the thing a bit))

The next morning, Nalti awoke and stretched, looking around. That aura over across the way was gone, and all traces of it were as well. The sky was climbing, though she couldn't see it; however, the slight chill in the air told Nalti that it was still morning. Getting up, she soon noticed the other aura, that of the man whom had introduced himself as Cross, if she remembered correctly. Had she not seen the strange things whipping out in front of him, her first impulse would have been to awaken him; few she'd met had been so kind to her, and if she could help it, the girl wouldn't be separated from him...

Cross 'woke up' a minute or two later and looked over to the girl that seemed to be staring at him. He was a bit confused and wondered if something was the matter. "Everything alright Nalti?" He pulled back the whips and readjusted his cloak. He thought for a moment and then asked, "There is some meat left over from last night if you would like some more." He wondered where she was headed. Maybe he could help her along to wherever she wanted to go.

Galius began walking west again, out of the forest and into the plains. He was aiming to see if he could find a road. It had been ages since he had been anywhere but the forest, and being able to see the horizon and breathe air that wasn't as humid as a sewer was nice. He looked up as his friend circled in the air, coming down with a rabbit in its claws, and eating it a long ways ahead of Galius. Before long, Galius had passed the eagle, and it had taken off again, circling over his head.
There was little to be seen in the plains, and apparently there wasn't any sign of human life here but those two he had seen in the building that was nearly rotting off its foundation. Galius knew that eventually he had to run into humanity. There couldn't be only those in Varamen, could there?
....
Hours passed, and nothing. He hadn't seen so much as another animal. No sign of tracks in the grass, no signs of any grazing animals, even though the ground was pretty low. There had to be something eating the grass, but Galius had seen nothing. He could see a small stream on the horizon, running north and south, and he wondered if he followed it if he would see anywhere he could go. He shook his head, thinking on how he was looking for humanity now. He convinced himself it was just to repair his weapons and get a shave...

(actually, i think she put some stuff into it >.<)
"Hmm? Oh..." Nalti retracted, blushing slightly. "Forgive me, but I thought... oh, it doesn't matter." She turned away, feeling embarrassed over nothing. The girl was merely curious... she had seen few people around upon her travels, at least few that would even so much as speak to her. She stretched again, but banged her knuckle on a tree nearby and retracted the limb, whimpering a bit before it felt better.
Izuket brought the meat to her, which she quickly went to store away for later. But when she opened her pack, the girl found that it was full of... water??! "Wha- what is this?!" she cried, not understanding why her precious pack was full of something abundant all around. Or, at the least, abundant to her through her demon...

((Uh... crap. She could have had another for the water... but I understand with the demon now -_-))
Cross was looking around for any trail or sign of any other beasts but found none. He turned around quickly to look at the woman who had spoken in a surprised tone. He looked down at the source and explained, "I am sorry, it was empty so I got you some water for your... journey."

*heh...oh well*
"It was... empty?" The girl felt around her. Had someone taken the other pack with all her supplies in it? Surely this wasn't hers... she had at least put those seeds into it earlier, if not more from before their meeting. Was she really that silly to have accidentally dropped so much stuff away from... no, Izuket would have warned her had that happened. But then-
Abruptly, the enslaved demon in question gave the girl a knock on the head, then placed something into her hands. It was weighted, with a looping piece of what felt to be leather, and- oh! This was her pack! The other one the man had picked up must've been left in the house, or had fallen out or something... Nalti giggled nervously as she realized how silly this must all have looked. "I'm sorry..." she squeaked out, hanging her head in shame at having made such a fuss over one pack. Most of the stuff she had was easily replaceable, and that which wasn't she kept on her all the time. In fact, the silk she wore was probably worth more in the Outside than anything else, including the instrument. If need be, she could fetch a grand price for it... but Nalti had been given it by her mother before the woman had passed away, and therefore it was precious to the girl...
Not sure what else to say, the girl sat there for a few minutes, wondering where to go from here...

Cross was afraid he had somehow messed something up for the Nalti. He looked at her in confusion as she seemed to search around her for something. He watched the following ordeal with the demon and understood the problem. That wasn't her bag in the first place. He spoke after a moment when everything was clear, "You can keep that one too. I don't think the owner requires it anymore." He paused and looked around, waiting. He finally asked after a few minutes, "Are you going somewhere?"

She turned back in the general area of the man to respond "Well, not really... I've just mostly been wandering ever since I was exiled from home. Just... kinda been going westward ever since. I've heard there's a huge city that way where the rejected and forgotten go. But I've been having thoughts about whether that would really be a nice place or not..."
Her naive mind invisioned a paradise where her problems- death, pestilence, hunger, and cold, to name a few- were non-existent. Such things were those that she dreamed of, but had never been given. However, she also knew that not all people who had been exiled, whether by a village's elders, or by they themselves, were nice and kind, hence her hesitance. Perhaps this man would know where to go? She could only hope so...

He thought for a moment and then spoke, "It's best you keep moving - at least here. It's not safe to stay here for a long duration." He paused then hesitated before asking, "Would you like me to accompany you where you are going?"

Galius steadily followed the stream, his Eagle in tow above him. His pace slowed as he began to think on how much time he had spent walking, and his stomach again began to growl. Looking around, he grabbed some brush and started a small fire, reaching into his pack and producing a few bits of raw meat from a previous hunt. They had a stench of rot about them, but it appeared that Galius had spent plenty of time eating rotten food during his trek through the jungle. As he cooked to food, the smell was one most would recoil from, but Galius simply waited for his food to cook. Eventually, the stench was gone, and the food was left. Galius ripped the scorching food in half and tossed half of it toward Typhon. The eagle flew down and ate its fill.
Galius ate as much as he needed, and tossed the rest in the river. Sitting there for a moment, and putting out the fire, Galius looked around. This area was so unbelievably gorgeous, even one so filled with hate as him could not help but marvel at the untouched glory of this natural place. The water was clear as glass the trees thick with vegetation, the underbrush untouched by any man for years. Galius lamented never seeing this until now, for it calmed him. He felt much more at peace, and not bloodthirsty or angry while staring at this, but once he rose to his feet and returned to the task at hand, he felt just as he did before. Perhaps that was why he was able to befriend the giant Eagle... He didn't hate nature, just humanity.
So many questions to ponder without a set goal, so many things to wonder about now that he had plenty of time to just walk. Without something to hunt, something to kill, he had more time than he ever wanted to think about these things.
As he began walking again, he vowed to himself to find out what all this meant. He wanted to know his purpose, for he was truly not human, and surely wasn't meant to help them...
