He nodded when she refused his offer politely and said, "I understand..." He raised a brow when she leaned forward to whisper. He could smell a scent on her that wasn't entirely artificial. He replied quickly as she was about to leave, "That goes for everything I have told you as well..." On her last question he simply smiled and asked for the cheque and said, "Nah, we are done... see you around"
He paid the check and made his way back to his desk to see the light blinking on his phone. Ah, time for explanations and report, he thought grimly as he picked up the phone to return the two calls he had expected, the Director and those half brained twits down in the derver security dungeons who laughed at him when he tried to talk to them about the loopholes. He wondered if he could request someone to re-imburse him for his laptop.

Catherine quickly clocked back in, barely making it as the clock slipped past the time allotted to her on the time just as the numbers were being punched in. Her usual cool demeanor shattered for the time being, Cath collapsed into her chair, a cold sweat overtaking her body momentarily. She had been so careless with her hacking- nothing like what she'd gotten through the system last night- that it shocked her. And she could be getting fired for it.
Fumbling for some pills out of her purse, she tried to grab two of them, but they almost bounced out of her hands, falling to the floor where she promptly kicked them under the desk and tried again. Upon succeeding the second time to bring them to her mouth, she downed a few gulps from the drink she brought back with her, tossed the cup away, and went about checking her email.
Sure enough, just as she'd feared, there was a notice there, but surprisingly it wasn't one of termination- at least, it wasn't yet. Scanning over it, Catherine realized that she'd forgotten to turn in her papers on the testing last night, and her manager was tapping her fingers most likely while she waited. Following up on that quickly, she also sent everything else she had, marked appropriately as to what it was; and then, only then, did she plop down into the back-breaking seat, awaiting what was surely to come...

"It's a special project, don't worry about it..." "... Yes, I will send you a written confirmation" He said the next sentence in a frustrated tone. "... Yes, I understand you need proof for your report. Wait, there doesn't need to be a report. No, you won't be asked for it if you log it with my name in the reference. Alright... no problem." He put down the phone and his head hit the desk surface at almost the same time. He let out a frustrating groan. He looked up to see the guy across from him staring at him with a curious glance. He forced a smile on his face and rolled his eyes as he commented, "Bloody compliance guys..." he received a knowing smile from the coworker who then went back to his work.
He picked up the phone again and called the Director watching to see if anyone was listening. "Sir, this is Justin. I called to...", he paused as the director cut him in mid sentence telling him he knew about the breach. He just wanted to know the important stuff. "Ms. Catherine Yatis was the point of breach. I had askde her to test the system for me. The actions taken to erase traces and counter attack were planned out." "So you meant to destroy your laptop Mr Wyde?", the director question. "Uh no sir, apparently she found a hole in the system that... I had overlooked." How did the director find out about that anyway? He began to suspect his activities were being tracked in more ways than he had discovered or guessed. "I hope you remember not to do that in future. I am not going to be the one paying for your mistakes. Thats all." "I understand sir...", he heard a click and that was all. He put the phone down and sighed. Now there was no way he could claim for his laptop. He slouched back in his chair rubbing his tired eyes and resting for a few minutes. -------------- The director kept the phone down with a grim expression on his face. This guy couldn't keep a simple intern out of the system who would have shut down their servers if he hadn't setup the fake server. He turned to watch the feed from the system on a separate laptop next to his desk. He picked up the phone and ordered his secretary to suspend any disciplanary proceedings against the intern Wyde had mentioned. "... and send her my thanks." He added after a while. That simple email should be good enough a proof for her if this incident ever came up.

The rest of that day went without much incident, not even a notice. Catherine was nervous, suspecting that something was up, but said nothing about it, although she was literally biting her nails unconsciously the rest of the day. When she got home, before she even made herself dinner, she started up a bath and soaked for a good hour. Still, even with the hot water creeping all around her, her skin soaking up every last bit of heat possible to relieve the aching muscles that had broken out in a cold sweat earlier in the day, she was tense as hell; the thought of losing her first real job seemed to be getting to Cath.
After nearly catching her apartment on fire, she gave up and dialed in; pizza was on its way within minutes. Strained and dead tired from the mental stress, Cath wanted nothing more than to get to her first real assignment, not this silly system-testing nonsense that she'd been going through for this long. Even if it was the only one she ever did, all she wanted was to be out working, making the world safer for everyone. If only she knew how silly her ideas were now, maybe she would have turned in everything. But naivety, along with her carefree attitude, would start something that couldn't, nor wouldn't, be stopped by anyone...

((Hello! Thanks in an email from the director and no response???))
Justin got home, not liking the light feeling of his bag minus his laptop on his back. He dozed off on the train back from work and soon made his way to his apartment on foot for the rest of the way. It was past midnight and he had been lucky enough to catch the last train back home. As he walked back he looked behind and saw a couple of guys following him. He sighed and opened his jacket from the front and made a show of adjusting his trousers at the back, feeling a gun tucked away there that wasn't there.
He looked back again as he did so, clearing showing that he knew of the two followers. They quickly entered an alley to the side and let him walk back in peace. He stopped at the all night diner on his way back and ordered a cheeseburger meal. He ate through it rather quickly, quietly and started on his way back. He entered his apartment and took a long shower despite the water being cold. He then plopped down on his bed after setting an alarm to waked up in about 5 hours.
((Give me something to work with here lol))

*i didn't know who 'her' was x-x shesh...*
After finishing off the last piece, Catherine groaned when the phone rang. At this time of night, that meant only one thing: more work. After answering and getting through the drawn-out conversation, she hung up with a deep sigh. "Dear god," she thought privately, "when is this testing sh** going to end?! How many more late-night sessions do they want me going through? I mean, I'm gonna die of exhaustion if they make me go through any more of these... shesh... Its as if they want me dead or something..."
Packing her stuff up, Cath began thinking about what had happened, and then had that nagging guilt stuck in the back of her mind which she couldn't shake. She'd fried Justin's laptop, and knowing how money was anymore, the UCISA wasn't going to pay him for clumsiness. Sighing, she mentally noted to replace it, even if she couldn't afford the best one on the market. It might also even the playing field again, as she wouldn't owe him anything then. As she raced down the steps towards her vehicle, she immediately ducked into the laundry room; her boyfriend had just pulled in after another one of his "boys night out" bullsh** stories. If he saw her on the way out... well, long story short, she'd never get to work on time. As he ascended, she made a dash for the door, wishing that he would stop fooling around and just tell her what he was doing out so late. As soon as she was in her car, the doors were locked, and she sped out, not wanting to deal with the leech until she had time to do so.
Arriving about twenty minutes later just as the sun was going down over the horizon, she pulled in, checked her hair in the rear view, and then started for the central building. Fifteen minutes later, once her handbag had been checked- along with most everything else- Catherine got to work, a keyboard under one hand and a cup of fresh, hot tea in the other. First checking her company email, she was shocked to find a letter from the director waiting for her. Even more shocking was when she found out that no punishment was in store for her. Something was fishy about that, but for now Cath ignored it, even though that little nagging bastard in the back of her mind kept telling her to quit working and get out immediately. For the next hour or so, she worked with codes, hacking, and everything else she was familiar with, all the while sensing that something was very wrong with all of this...
Finally, when she was just wrapping things up, an unfamiliar file caught her eye. Thinking it was another trap, she set up every precaution possible before following it. Soon enough, she came across something rather... shocking; at first, it looked like one of those execution vids that terrorist were putting up with such regularity that it was almost a daily chore now to get them off the air, but something about it was very different. For one, the person speaking didn't have the usual tailing Arab accent or whatever it was. Also, the woman looked frightfully familiar...
Sensing danger, she quickly left the site, although her pretentious curiosity forced her to get it downloaded for viewing later. She hadn't seen the whole thing, but what she saw was enough to make her think something was wrong; if her instincts said so, then it was so, and she trusted that. Quickly erasing her tracks as much as possible, Catherine stowed the small USB flash drive away in her makeup bag, and then filed in her report. She had a bad feeling that things were about to get very hairy, and it all had to do with that video.
So many questions came to her, bringing more than enough issues for her to figure out. Abruptly, the thought crossed her mind 'I hope I don't get Justin sucked into this...' It took her a moment, but she shook it off. Why did she even give a care about him anyhow? He'd caused her a great deal of trouble today, and could very well have gotten her fired for it. So why was she even giving a flying crap about him? The headache she'd had earlier came back to her, a bit more severe this time, and didn't help the situation as she made her way out the door. The air was thick with suspense as Cath watched her handbag go through the x-ray... then get searched... and come out clean. Hiding her relief, she stepped through, picked up the article, and walk out the door. Once she made it to her car, only then did she sigh heavily; why was she so tense? That video had just been posted not fifteen minutes before she saw it, and she'd tagged it after finding it... so why was she so worried?
It then hit her why: somehow it was in the system itself, not just floating around the Internet. And since both their native server and the 'net were so closely tied, it could very well have leaked. And if something were off-color about the people in that video, then there would be heavy repercussions following closely behind...
*good enough?*

*yep, I think I can make that work*
He barely heard the ring of the telephone and reached over to the side table to pick up the phone. His eyes opened as he realized it was a call from the office. "Yeah I will be right there...", he mumbled and put the phone down. He looked at the watch, groaned, then proceeded to curse his pillow out loud. One hour, that's how long he could stay away from the office without a breach.
He got up and dressed, still half asleep. He walked back the same way, taking a black coffee from the diner before proceeding to the main street to take a cab. He reached the office in the few minutes he had promised and reached his desk. He had a mild headache by now but started up his computer reluctantly. He had been told that a highly sensitive video had been leak out even with his system operational. That made it his problem as well.

*sry, I don't got much right now x-x*
Returning home, she began research immediately, sifting through everything she could find. Catherine's "boyfriend" was passed out again on his cot in the corner, which he seemed to prefer as he said Cath "kicked too much" in her sleep. The video had been killed off well before it reached too many hands, and those would soon enough be silenced, but there was just something... wrong about it all. Into the night, Catherine continued researching, and slowly coming to the realization that she may never figure out the story behind them all... Even if she did, there was no guarantee that results would flesh out anything more than that woman being threatened for execution. What she needed was a translation, and badly at that...

Justin's head was in his hand as he stared blankly at the screen. How the hell did the video get out? The logs showed that the video in question had never been accessed by any network outside the firm's. That's not what he could go to the Director with tomorrow morning, that the video had never gone out even though it had.
It was now 3.30 am in the morning and he was alone on the floor. He yawned and drank from his 3rd cup of black coffee since he had come to the office again. He looked around and decided he need to stretch his muscles a bit. He began doing some stretches and moved around the floor. His mind on the problem at hand. He stopped suddenly and his face lit up.
He went back to his computer and opened the interface with the main server. He checked a few parameters and whispered a soft "Yes", before printing some screens and reports. He put everything neatly in the folder and locked in the drawer in his desk. It was close to 4.30 am by the time he finished. He went back home again and was on his bed asleep at 5.15 am just to get up again at 6.30 am.

By the time she'd gotten dressed and ready, Catherine groaned when she saw the time; she had fifteen minutes to make a twenty minute drive. Practically leaping into the vehicle, she noticed that her 'boyfriend's brand-new Prius was already gone; just one more sign that she should probably break up with him, on top of the fact that they hadn't done anything at all in over six months. 'Nevermind that', she told herself, 'just get your ass to work.'
Surprisingly for her, Cath arrived only about a minute off, just making it past the doors and clocking in as the minute shifted past. Sitting down at her desk without the usual coffee and donut, things were definitely not completely up to par yet. Trying not to fall asleep at her desk, Cath checked her email again, and upon finding nothing new of interest, went about trying to pick up where she was yesterday before that whole incident, as a small stack of new stuff sat on her desk. Probably formulated just to keep her ass busy enough to stay out of trouble. Inbetween, she committed to a few Paypal transactions, annoyed with the usual silliness of needing three or four days just to get things through. Just another day in cubicle paradise was what she hoped for, although with what had been happening, anything could go wrong...
*bleah... not the best and i took all day just to grunt it out >.< sry...*

He was late, not much but the minutes didn't matter at this job. If you were late, you were just late, whether it was a minute or an hour. He rushed in to find something that threw him off completely. The division chief was taking a round of the floor and had just passed his empty desk as he turned the corner. He gulped hard and walked up from behind him and kept his bag at his desk. Randell, the division head turned around and growled at him, "I thought you lot at least would have the sense to be on time since your jobs are not even secure..."
He turned around after Randell had left to see everyone staring at him. He sat down at his desk. He guessed he would get a chance very soon that he was here till 4.30 am last night. He looked up as the chief passed by again and said to him, "You, my office, 15 minutes."

*fire this back up again?*
Several reports and a bit of clean-up got her back into the grind again, at least until an email popped up from her division head. Oh great she groaned, figuring that it was either nothing much at all or her resignation and possible imprisonment. Well, better to go out with a bang than a squeak, she figured. Maybe she'd pilfer some office supplies and start a scandal or two on her way out-
Mind on task she told herself; this wasn't Hollywood or the mainstream media. There would be nothing leaking out, especially after what had been going on in the last few years. Opening the email, what she got was some a little unexpected, but not entirely so. Her mind was so focused that Catherine almost read it out loud:
"To Catherine H. Yatis, Due to recent events, I have requested your presence immediately. Please comply or you can begin cleaning our your desk by the end of the day. Do not reply to this email.
~Director Markus
Just what she needed; a termination threat. That made her day for sure. Cath drummed her fingers on the desk as she looked around; no one was staring at her screen thankfully, which eased her paranoia somewhat. Picking up what she had, the young woman deleted the email and pulled up some random worksheet she'd been playing with, listing her favorite superheroes in random order. Along with that, she made the other tabs that she was working with invisible and locked the desktop so no one could mess with it unless they knew her name and password.
Taking a deep breath, Cath readied herself for what was to come, then started off towards the Division Director's office, papers in hand and hidden inside an unmarked manila folder, away from prying eyes. She just sincerely hoped this wasn't about last night or what else had been happening recently, although her gut told her that her worst fears were the most likely reasons...

Justin waited as Randell moved towards the elevator to surprise another division. He nearly fell into his seat, his heading hitting the desk harder than he had intended. He stayed like that for 5 minutes more before moving his head to the edge, peering down as he checked that the report was still there. Once he was satisfied, he got up and moved to the elevator to meet with Randell.
It was the usual threat, a bad review, losing the job, etc. But they wouldn't fire him, not till he fixed the problem or found out how to fix it. Maybe that would be enough to save his job. Only about 10 minutes had passed since he was called and now he was heading to the Director's room. He didn't ask for an appointment because the Director was waiting for a report on the breach yesterday!
Once he reached there he was told by his secretary that the Director was with someone else, but he could still go in. So he knocked politely, the folder in his hand, and waited for a couple of seconds before he opened the door. He tried not to show his surprise to find Catherine in his office.

*took long enough for a breakthrough -.-" *
Needless to say, Catherine was not as good at hiding her expression of dumbfounded confusion as she stared at Justin as he entered. So much for getting away quietly. By the time Cath realized she was staring, the Director had cleared his throat, catching the two's attention fairly well before he began.
"Under normal circumstances" he began in the dullest, most monotonous voice a human could possibly give, "I would not even give warning before enacting permanent removal, but things are quite abnormal." Sighing as he removed the glasses perched atop the bridge of his nose, the Director continued "I'm not sure whether to be pleased or disappointed with recent events, but you two have certainly been busy as of late. One would have to admit that, regardless of what is said here or elsewhere, I am impressed with both of your work. That doesn't mean that recent actions are simply to be overlooked, but this administration recognizes that both of you have done your jobs, and with flying colors as well. Still, although I'm not about to fire either of you, both of you will be placed under constant watch for your own good while these incidents are investigated in full. I'm sure there won't be any further problems, and that future disciplinary action won't be necessary. You are dismissed."
*not the best, but i wanted to crank this up again x.x feel free to add more to his bit-part if you want to, but i'll finish up Cath's part after this...*

((No problem ^_^))
Justin was a bit too stunned to reply with anything at that moment. He even forgot the folder he was carrying that he was supposed to give to the director. What the hell is this bullsh**? Should I thank him or try to defend myself? Those were his thoughts at the moment. It almost seemed like a cross between a sacking and a promotion. Maybe it was just the exhuastion due to the lack of sleep that he couldn't comprehend what he was trying to say. The first thought that did come to his mind and didn't exactly make sense at the time was that Catherine and him were being setup to be the scape goats to whatever fallout a major leak that might or might have not occurred yet, might bring with it.
He snapped out of his daze after a few moments and spoke, "Uh, thank you sir. Here's the report on the last leak." He looked at Catherine for a couple of seconds as if wondering whether to give the director a summary of the problem in her presence or not. But it seemed she was mixed up in all this anyway so there was no point in holding back at the moment. "It seems that the mirror network we placed had a timed script hidden in the administrator's temporary cache that ran and sent out the file in question." He paused then added for Catherine's benifit, "Very few people have access to the admin functions of the system." He was one of them. The director was another. There were some people in lateral roles and some above him that also had access but he couldn't probe them to see who it was that had managed to put in such an efficient vulnerability. It was no short of a miracle that he had found this out. Who the hell thinks of looking in temporary cache's for threats?
((If you want the convo b/w Cath and Director private you can have him excuse Justin and say that he left))
