In the dead of night, young Lucrimm snuck. Sticking to the shadows cast by the tall buildings. "Urban Trees" Lurcimm call them. Providing a place to hide behind and under, just like the trees around his camp site.
Lucrimm didn't know why he was sneaking, but he thought it better to be safe than sorry, so sneak he did. (lol) He was headed toward the nearest tavern that didn't look like it was a trash hole. This, despite it being a big city with lots of inns, was a considerably tough feat. but it was well worth it when starving bellies were pushing you on.
"Finally!" Lurcimm exclaimed. He had finally found the "Thunder Porridge" What an odd name he thought to himself, but it was the cleanest tavern in sight. So he decided he would try it. Trudging toward the heavy wooden door, glancing from side to side to make sure he would not be mugged of something, he pulled the door slowly open...
and in he went...

Echo sighed as she sat at the bar, staring off at nothing in particular.
She'd finished her drink long ago and was just zoning out, thinking about some things long past. Her old life and people she knew, things she'd done. Just life in general, and how she'd gotten stuck singing at bars...
Echo sighed and ran a hand through her hair, pausing as she looked at her pale skin. She'd had to hide herself for so long now she barely remembered what her real skin color looked like. Or her real eye color... the only thing that was still her was the hair on her head, but so many other people in the world had black hair.
She'd completely lost track of time before someone came and tapped her on the shoulder, saying she could go and sing again. She nodded and got up, going towards the piano in that bar where she could be heard best, and starting a slow song up as the people quieted down.
She didn't really enjoy singing for drunks, especially drunks who'd gladly kill her if they got the chance, but money was money, and the more she earned the more guarantees she had that she wouldn't be starving in the streets...

As Lucrimm pushed the door open he heard a very pleasant sound wafting out from around the door. To his dismay, he was focusing so hard on the singing that he got a splinter.
"UGH! ...oww..." He whispered, immediately sticking his finger in his mouth and sucking, "I mustn't show weakness in a public place... no matter how much this hurts... or how much a wimp I REALLY am, or how hungry I am..." he mumbled to himself. He let out a tiny sigh, "or how poor I am...Ugh!"
He finished pushing the door open and shuffled inside, out of the cold night. The inn was roughly half full, and half of that half consisted of drunk, smelly men. "discusting... ew, learn some manners...UH!" He thought as he walked to the bar.
"I'll have a glass of spiced wine please," He told the bartender. The bartender scoffed at him, slammed a frothy mug of beer down, and promptly left. Lucrimm nearly fell off his seat, and had to remind himself that he needed food, not a drink. He patiently waited for someone who looked like a waitress to walk by, so he could order.
As he was waiting he glanced around the room, realizing that the singing was still there. He quickly turned his attention to the lady singing for the individuals occupying then inn. This woman, no matter how lovely her voice was, gave Lucrimm a strange feeling. Similar to when a person is looking at you and knows what you are but is trying to hide it from you...
He decided to watch this girl some more, and forgot about ordering.

Echo finished the song she was singing and looked at what she had earned. It was enough to get her by for the night and a few more days, so she could take a break and just relax for the rest of the night.
She went over to the bar again and got a glass of water to sooth her throat.

Seeing that the woman was finished, he watched as she counted her money and went to get a drink.
"Oh... hey! Can I have some water too please?" He asked, something he did not do often, "You sing wonderfully. Did anyone teach you how or is it natural?" As he was talking at her, he was taking in every detail, still not able to put his finger on what that funny feeling was. He didn't think it was important, but he liked to make it a habit of knowing everything possible about a situation.

She looked up, a bit surprised at someone talking to her that wasn't drunk.
"um... I guess, if you really want some. though you could just ask the bartender." she offered her glass.
"and no, no one ever taught me to sing, it's just something that runs in my family, but thanks for the compliment anyway." Echo nodded as she looked at him.
He seemed really odd, especially since he wasn't wearing a shirt, but she really didn't know him.

"oh erm...," He glanced nervously at the glass she had been drinking out of, "on second thought... no thanks... and that is very interesting, everyone I've known was taught to use there voice to sing. It is not common where I come from to just be able to sing."
He noticed her looking a tiny bit nervous, and saw her glance at his bare chest. "Oh yeah...um, I don't perticulally like cloths. Too restricting. erm...," he mumbled.
This woman, he wondered, what is she doing here in this repulsive bar... she looks like being rich would suit her...hmm.
"why do you put up with these slobs?" he asked bluntly, not noticing that the man two seats over was now staring at him.

"it keeps food on the table, a roof over my head and clothes on my back." she said simply, shrugging a bit as she drank some more water, sitting down at the bar to relax more.

This female... was weird. Who would actually want to work here. Oh well
"oh, well... what if you found something better to earn money by? Let me ask you this, are you any good at fighting? I passed through a town a week ago, saw a poster for a wanted "dangerous" man on the loose," his whispers hardly comprehendible, "The reward... well, lets just say it would be enough of you and me to not have to work for almost a year..."
He kept a close eye to see what her reaction what going to be... He didn't know if he could trust this girl, but what did he have to lose. "Besides my life...hmm," he thought.

She sighed, "I started singing to avoid fighting... as fights do, it got too dangerous... what's the man wanted for?"

"doesn't matter to me... erm, I mean... well, it's money the same... and I think we both have crappy jobs, so why not?" he blurted out, "so, you can fight huh."
His volume was getting a little loud at this point, now a couple people were staring, thus making Lucrimm nervous. He could just feel their beady, drunken eyes on his back.

"yes, I can fight. but why would you want a stranger to fight with you?" she continued to look at him oddly, finding many things strange about him, and wondering when he'd quiet down and stop gaining attention.

"well!" he squeaked as he was getting nervous under the pressure of having to come up with excuses.
"you just, look like you would be someone I would want with me... not against me... I mean.. erm.. yeah...," he mumbled.
He glanced toward the seat next to him. If anyone with the ability to see on different planes of existence looked over, they would see a rather plump looking imp with two wings, one looking like it had been chewed up in the past and never fully healed. A wicked looking stinger also hung at the end of it's tail. Lucrimm so happened to already know that the imp what there, and could feel a portion of what it was feeling.
At the moment, it was getting nervous. It sensed magic and deception... It had been charged with keeping Lucrimm safe. If he got hurt, the imp would feel the pain too. It was not sure where the magic was coming from, but it was there. The imp thought it would be best if it took a look around and found whatever was giving off magic, so it flapped gently off the chair and started sniffing around the room, being extremely careful not to bump into anything or anyone.
Lucrimm thought this most puculiar... but went on talking, "I'm more of a, what would you call it... magic user. I don't fight very well without... something, stronger to keep me safe. Not that I can't hold my own i'll have you know. Just, you know..."

"ah, magic user. I used to dabble a bit when I was very young, but decided to let it go and focused on more physical fighting than magical." she nodded finishing her water.
"so what, are you just looking for someone to keep you safe or something?"

"erm, I guess... sorta," He mumbled, trying hard to keep his dignity.
The imp was now sniffing in the left ear of one of a bartender across the room. There seemed to be a funny swell coming from his hair, wether it was magic of just the stench of not washing for several days was yet to be determined.
