Lopin watched from the crowd as Antonietta, accompanied by a guard, came down the stairs. He waved to catch her attention. There were nobles all over the place, and some gave him disdainful looks... apparently, gesticulating wildly didn't fit with their idea of proper protocol for such occasions. He gave them a glare he normally reserved for Whitecloaks, and they quickly looked away and pretended to ignore him.

Antonietta returned Lopin's wave, then started making her way towards him. One of the nobles tried to stop her - some comment about how pretty she was - but a quick glare stopped him dead in his tracks. She finally got through the crowd a moment later. She was wearing an elaborate crimson dress with long slits on both sides and the traditional tarabonner addition of circular holes on her stomach and lower back. The holes were covered with a seemingly paper-thin cloth that was nearly completely transparent. "Lopin, glad you could make it. This should be the biggest display I've ever put on!" She smiled at the thought, then her eyes widened ever so slightly as she remembered something. "Hey, do you know where that guard that had approached me earlier got off to? I haven't seen him since I started working on the display, and he said he was supposed to protect me or some such nonsense."

"I haven't seen him around," Lopin said, scanning the crowd. He had gotten a look at the man before he and Antonietta were separated earlier, and knew who she was referring to, but there was no sign of him now.
Something occurred to Lopin, and he stated it for the record. "You've got protection already. What's he really want?" he asked, watching the guard (Roy) that had come in with Antonietta stand watchfully on the steps. The man was eyeballing Lopin, but he figured it was because he was talking to the person the guard was protecting.

"Nothing," Tharian said, appearing beside Lopin. "I've just been doing my job." They could both see his sword in his hand at his side, slowly dripping blood onto the floor. Besides that, however, he was immaculately turned out. He wore a black coat with a fold over flap on the front, with decorative gold tread forming vines around his cuffs, collar, and down the decorative flap, and herons on his sleeves and collar. His pants were black silk with a plain trim, and his belt was a polished, intricately worked black steel belt, which held his sword and the slips for the spear on his back, which split in two at the center.
Tharian took a bit of cloth out of his pocket, and cleaned off his sword before sheathing it. "So far I have only killed three archers what wished to take this young illuminators pretty little head. You should be aware that in a city, among nobles, they'll kill the small pieces of the game as well as the large, as long as they can see a way it will give them an advantage." He looked at Lopin coldly, "Killing her would cause unrest and discredit the Lords who hired her, as incapable of protecting even a single guest, let alone an entire city. Can you really not understand the importance of keeping her safe?" He shook his head, "You do not look a fool, but if you do not learn these things quickly, you might as well be a fool. A dead fool, as foolish dead men do not speak." His eye's darted around the gathered guests. "Excuse me a moment." He said, and walked off briskly.
A moment later a good deal of choking and kicking could be heard, as one of the 'servants' was force fed the whine he had just poisoned, likely meaning to kill either one of the present lords, or perhaps the illuminator herself.

"I can understand the importance of keeping her safe," Lopin growled at the man's retreating back. "From you." He didn't trust this arrogant prick at all.

Antonietta grinned as Tharian walked off. "Don't trip in your haste!" she said as she hardened the air in front of his feat for a split second. "It would be horribly improper."
Antonietta looked around the crowd, but saw something she didn't like. "Lopin, what do you think of those people" she said, subtly gesturing towards a pair of Whitecloaks that were coming towards them. Roy had left his spot at the bottom of the stairs and was heading for Antonietta as well.

Tharian almost automatically cut the wave around his feet, channeling a trickle of the tainted Saidin. He wanted to drink it all in, its strength was almost overwhelming, but over time he had learned control. He turned around to give the Illuminator a very calculating look. "Never mention that to anyone." He bit off, as though it were a curse. Those in Tear would have no liking of him, they had an immense hatred of Aes Sedai, and the world itself was weary of men who could channel.
He didn't say another word to her, but went about his buisness, no longer with a cold expression, but with a burning hatred and concern on his face that hurried people out of his way. He had no love for those who would try to kill him, simply for living.

(( I cite book three, around chapter 40 I believe, where-in Egwene attempted to hold Rand with weaves of Air, and found herself quite suddenly forced back as her weave snapped back. Book three is The Dragon Reborn if you haven't made it that far yet. But if you know Tear in any detail, that's where you should be.
By the way, whats the timeline of this story? Is Rand the Dragon yet? Does he even exist?))

Antonietta eyed Tharian as he left, wondering what in the world had stopped her weave from working. He couldn't have seen it... she thought to herself.
The Whitecloaks got closer, but Roy got there first, placing himself between them and Antonietta. This gave pause to the Whitecloaks, who started speaking with each other. Antonietta looked anxiously at Lopin, waiting for an answer.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
The two cloaked figures continued to watch Terrance from the shadows. Terrance would occasionally look their way, but he never saw them. "Normally I'd agree with you about waiting" the woman whispered to the man, "but what if he doesn't leave? You saw how she had two guards with her. Do you think the Illuminator's knew something might happen?"

(I'm in book 3 right now, but not quite that far yet. I think I'm in chapter 13 or 14.)
"I prefer him over the Whitecloaks," Lopin growled, jerking his head in Tharian's direction. His hand had gone to the sword at his side... he hoped Antonietta's guard knew that the gesture wasn't directed at her. Apparently, the man was indeed smart enough to realize what direction the threat was coming from... he stepped in front of Lopin and Antonietta, putting himself between them and the Whitecloaks. However, the two Whitecloaks didn't leave.

(short name time...I'm tired of typing the full name XD )
Toni looked-over the stairs going up. "The stairs are clear, so we could always go that way if those two don't leave. I'll have to head that way soon anyway... the show is supposed to start in just a short while." She tapped Roy's armor a couple times. He grunted in acknowledgment, then started walking towards the Whitecloaks. The Whitecloaks almost immediately turned and went the other direction going much faster than when they were approaching earlier. Toni smiled. "Sometimes a scary guard is a bonus. Now, I'm off to start the show. Roy will stay at the bottom of the stairs if you need him." She disappeared into the crowd moments later, then appeared again at the base of the stairs, heading up. She turned when she was almost out of sight and shot a wink at Lopin, mouthing the words 'see you after the show'.

"Good luck," Lopin told Toni as she headed off to do her thing. She turned around and winked at him, and he returned the gesture. Scanning the crowd, he wondered where the arrogant city guard had gone. Roy was the only protection Antonietta seemed to have now, besides Lopin himself of course. Though far from a trained warrior, he seemed to manage well enough when he was forced to fight. However, most people didn't bother, as his size and slightly wild look discouraged intimidation attempts.

OOC - Sorry for taking a while. A woman's weaves CAN be sensed and blocked my a man. The same knife of weaved spirit, fire, and earth will cut a man or womans weaves equally well. It does take practice to effectively anticipate a woman's weaves, and vice versa, but it is easily possible. And considering Tharian is a man who can channel, he's had Aes Sedai attempting to gentle him for a long time, thus had much time to practice. Books Five and Six both cite this will, Rands battles against Lanfear are the most obvious proof.
BIC - Tharian was in deep discussion with the white cloaks, his knuckles working on his sword hilt. None of them had recognized him, thankfully. The Questioners wanted to get their hands on him quite badly, for some of the more pertinent things he knew, and just because they wanted to name him darkfriend as well. It took a while, but he finally did manage to disenguage the white cloaks. He'd not have his pay if they started a brawl with him here, and blade master or no, ten men was a severe stretch. The best blademasters in the world could take, at the very most, four competent man, maybe five at the outward limits. Assuming military competence of course, a blademaster could easily dispatch a senseless mob, with no direction or real ability, all it ended up was a slaughter.
He sighed as he mad his way through choice passages of Tears inner fortress, finally arriving where the fireworks had been set up. He found Toni there, nodded to her. "I don't mean to be cruel." He said, his voice cold. "But I am submerged deeply in the Oneness, and I will be until your fireworks are lit and you are safe." He shifted his stance, and started pacing. Cat Walking in the Crossyard, it was a natural, almost arrogant swagger, but every movement spoke of a readiness to spill blood. "I'll stay with you until you've set off the fireworks here, afterwards you should be safe enough. I hope I haven't disturbed you to greatly, I've not left the Oneness save to sleep in several days." He knelt down beside her, though he was careful not to watch what she was doing. The Illuminators didn't like that, and where known to assassinate people who learned secrets of they're trade. "We'll see what happens after this, hopefully you won't need my help. Maybe you will, either way I will guard you for as long as is nessisary, I swear it." He said, baring two feet of his blade and kissing it.
