Seth walked through the crowded Mech bay, dodging technicians and warriors alike, nodding or waving to those he knew. He could understand the reason for the Mech bay being so busy... Clan Wolf wasn't officially at war yet, but he had been informed of the Jade Falcon Khan's childish behavior at the Trial of Refusal, and his promise to avenge himself upon the Wolves.
He and Vincent -- he had taken the sniper along because he was probably the most trustworthy member of his unit as far as this sort of op was concerned (he had kept his mouth shut for the greater part of five years about other such ops, anyway, a loyalty which Seth respected enough to recommend the young man for promotion to Star Commander) -- were here to recruit a new hacker. The last computer expert had been killed in SpecOps Binary's last engagement, nearly five years ago.
Seth stopped behind a young man sitting at a computer terminal, probably waiting for technicians to finish repairing or modifying his 'Mech before mounting up for whatever mission his unit was going on. "Are you Mechwarrior Alexander?" he asked.
(OOC: As you post your characters I'll find ways to work them in, but I wanted to take the three we have and run with them. GG and Crow, the ball's in your court for now... if we only have five or six people, we can sort out the other necessary members of the unit with multiples and then kill them off if someone else wants to join later. I may not be on over the weekend, but will likely check in later this evening. A note on Vincent's rank... Crow states in his profile that he's a Point Commander, which is the rank he currently carries. The reference to Seth putting him in for a further promotion is just something for Vincent to act surprised about later on down the road.)

Alexander was busy tapping away on a computer terminal, working on a new firewall program. He was just about finished with it when someone came up behind him. "Are you Mechwarrior Alexander?" the person behind him asked. He tapped a few buttons to save his work, then spun around in his chair to face the person who had addressed him. He stood and saluted, mostly because any who addressed him usually outranked him. "Yes, I'm Alexander. What can I do for you?" He then noticed the other person standing there, as well as the Point Commander rank on his uniform. That's when he saw the Nova Captain rank on the first one's uniform. He suddenly went a little pale. Great he thought. The last thing I needed was some truebie nova cap rubbing his bloodline in my face.
((Truebie is prounounced "true-bee", kind of like newbie, and it's the only real insult that freeborns have to use against trueborns, though most trueborns don't take it as such))

"Calm down soldier. We aren't here to hastle you. Quite the opposite." He stood with his hands behing his back, just eyeing the man up, "You have quite the record for a free born. We've noticed that and have need of your skills in upcoming operations."

With the nearby mech hanger a bustle, the Janitor was sitting peacefully of the cockpit of his A-26 Empathy. She had been fueled up, and loaded with heavy support payload. His co-pilot was sitting behind him, monitoring the status of if they would launch or not.
"Hey Kit, let me know whats going on down there? Ask for a sitrep or something, I just dont want to be sitting at this weird angle for too long.."

(OOC: I read on the Battletech Wiki that freebirths use "trashborn" to insult trueborns, if that works better for you. Otherwise, I kind of like "truebie". BTW, just in case the reference goes over anyone's head, the Turkina Keshik is the Clan Jade Falcon High Command.)
Seth nodded, hooked a thumb at Vincent and said, "Yeah, what he said. We heard about your skills as a hacker -- the man who supervised your training is an old friend of mine -- and wanted to know if you could hack into the Turkina Keshik's military database for us. I'm Seth Radick, by the way. You might not want to address me by first name in front of other senior officers, but in present company it's fine if you choose to do that."
He figured this offer would get a reaction from Alexander... even notoriously lenient Inner Sphere commanders refused to allow their subordinates to address them by first name. Seth wanted Alexander to know right off that he belonged to a different kind of unit. Such mystique would no doubt make the hacker want to join such a unit, which Seth was counting on.

"Commander, sitrep on operational start time?" Kit asked into his mic.

Seth keyed his comm. "Get comfortable, it'll be a while," he said apologetically. "We've got to abscond with some illegal information. Don't worry, you'll get to stretch your legs in the briefing room after that, though."
He turned to Alexander and said, "I need to know the location and security statistics of the nearest Jade Falcon Mech hangar. And yes, this is mission prep, and yes, if you tell anyone about it I'll have to kill you."

((oy, forgot about trashborn... I think I like trubie better though. He's a hacker after all ^^; and it's easier to say))
Color returned to Alexander's face. "You want me to hack Keshik, Sir? That sounds almost like an insult. A falcon scrap heap like that is nothing. Of course, it'd be nice to see what they have hiding there. Count me in." He looked back at his terminal. "You want those stats now, Sir? I may not have much external access here, but I should be able to trace the comms."

"Roger that." Kit replied. "Get comfortable Jan, we are still working on it.

"Yeah, the sooner the better," Seth said. "I'd like to get on with the mission... some of my people are impatient. By the way, we're going to need someone with skills like yours out in the field, assuming of course that you're interested in helping Clan Wolf draw first blood."
He keyed his comm again. "Fetladral, we'll be requiring your presence in the briefing room. No, you won't be required to wear your uniform, though I'd appreciate it if you brought some weaponry along that's suitable for an out-of-Mech excursion." Seth ordinarily would have addressed Ratache by first name, but it was better to stay on the man's good side before an important mission... and there was no important mission than the one that would start a war.

"Sir, will the Janitor and I be required in the briefing room? - Over." Kit keyed in. He didn't want to sit in his cockpit for the briefing if he could have it given to him on his display screen, but at the same time he wanted to have some alone time, since the Janitor is mostly quiet before his missions.

"As I said, count me in. I'll get you those stats asap." He turned back to his terminal. Fingers flying, text zoomed across the screen. It moved far faster than most people could keep up with, but this was child's-play to a skilled hacker. "Hmmm... It looks like there's some traffic... here" he said, pointing to a map displayed on the corner of the screen. His other hand flew even faster to make up for the pointing hand not helping. "I'd guess anywhere from five to twenty mechs are there, along with a handful of aerospace fighters. I can't be certain using just comms though. It's definitely a falcon base." He marked the planet on the map display and went back to scanning. "Well, everything else I'm finding is off world. That one's closest." He shut down the program he was using and stood up. "Where to, Sir?"

(OOC: By "nearest", I meant on the same planet. This is a Trial right now, remember... everyone's in the same place, which for those who aren't familiar with Mechwarrior 2 is the planet Colmar.)
"Can you tell if the 'Mechs are moving right now?" Seth asked Alexander. "If they're manned, that'll change the mission parameters... if they're just sitting in the hangar, that's perfect for us." He wasn't really worried about aerospace units... they could be splashed by The Janitor.
He spoke into his comm again. "I'd like to have at least one of you there, Kit. In case any in-depth discussion of tactics occurs, we need to know how our aerospace support can best be utilized."

"Roger that." Kit said. "Janitor, your call."
The Janitor slid open the canopy and crawled out. He placed his pilot helmet in his seat, then descended the catwalk and meet Seth in the Mech hanger.
"Ready when you are." He said, getting comfortable.

((fixed!))
Alexander played back the data in his head. His eyes darted around, almost as if focusing on an invisible screen between himself and Seth. "There were two mechs sending reports, and two more transmissions that I couldn't identify the source. Everything else was either in-base or aerospace, Sir." His eyes refocused on Seth. "Two to four mechs to frag, a few fighters to shoot down, and lots of computers to steal data from. Sounds fun."
