"I usually just go to sleep. No big relaxing thing. Though after tough cases I usually take a small break."

"Hm... Must be a hard life to lead... Going to work all day, coming home late at night, and going back to work again when you wake up. I'm not really one to talk, but at least I work from home and can take a break to go for a walk or something whenever I choose."

"and what do you do for a job?"

"I'm an author... Although occasionally I do some... work... on the side. However, writing takes up a great deal of my life. I never write a short book and I like to produce at least one book a year, if not more. Not to mention I've written a couple of columns for the newspapers every now and then along with several book critiques. So I suppose you could say that I'm a bit of a 'workaholic' like yourself."

"Guess so." he looked ahead to see what street they were on. *getting closer to hers..* "what was your address again, we're close to your street, but I need to know the address."

"House number 1901... You can't really miss it. It stands out a little from the others..." *She smirked slightly, quite proud of her Civil War era plantation house.*
((lol. 1901... Had to add a bit of creepy irony there...))

"all right." he nodded and drove to the street. Once they were on the right street he started looking at the houses, it was dark so he couldn't really see the addresses. Nikolas drove slowly down the street trying not to pass her house up by accident. Though it wouldn't be a problem. "is that it?" he asked her. He was looking at a house that really stood out in his mind. He didn't know it was an old plantation house, he just knew it was different than the rest.

"Yes... The old plantation house... The largest house on the block. It's been in my family since before the Civil War, although the plantation itself has been sold off piece by piece for all of these other homes." *Realizing she was rambling, Tessa laughed a little at herself.* "I apologize... I can't seem to let anyone see my house without showing off a little. I'm a bit proud of it, I'm afraid."

"guess so..." he pullled up in front of the house. "well, here's your stop."

"Thanks for the ride..." *Tessa swung the door open, but paused a moment instead of getting out. She turned her body to look at Nikolas.* "Say... Why don't you come inside for a minute? I'd hate to let you just drive away like this without repaying you in some way. Maybe a cup of hot tea? You look like the kind of guy who could use one."

Nikolas sighed, "yeah sure, why not." he shrugged and got out of the car, leaving his briefcase in there and locking his door.

*Tessa gave him a dazzling smile as she too got out of the car.* "Good... At least this way you can say that you've done something besides work, hm?" *She punched her access code into the panel on the heavy iron gates in the front of the house, walking through as they swung open with a bit of a creak. She led him up the driveway and then the front walk up to the large wooden front door...
Before she could even make a move to open it, it swung open from the inside, held for her by a well-built and attractive man... the same man that had driven away with her car earlier that evening. She flashed him a quick grin but his face remained unchanging as the two walked through the door and into the front parlor. The door was closed and locked behind them. Tessa smiled once more at Nikolas, not wanting him to be disturbed by the precaution.*
"Don't let Nathaniel there worry you. He's a little obsessed with my safety." *She gave her ghoul another smile but just then another woman quickly walked into the room.* "Ah, Isabel... I was just about to call for you. Do me a favor and put on some tea for our guest. We'll be in my study." *As the girl hurried off without a word, Tessa looked to Nikolas.* "Follow me..."

Nikolas got a knot in the middle of his stomache when he saw the door being locked, but he wouldn't let anyone know that. He kept cool, and acted as if this was normal for him. The entire place just gave him a bad feeling, but he ignored it. He just followed and stuck by Tessa.

*Tessa glanced over her shoulder, offering Nikolas a kind smile, despite the fact that she knew she would be destroying his life this night... Still, at least it wasn't like he had family and friends that he would have to leave behind... He was already as unattached to mortal life as he possibly could be. She swung open the doors to her large study, gesturing for him to enter before her.* "Here we are... Given the fact that you seem to spend most of your life in an office, you'll probably be the most comfortable here. It's personally my favorite room in the house... Best place in the world to get work done."

"hmm.... it's a nice room." he entered it and looked around. "really is a good place to work." Nikolas just said that to say something. There wasn't much he could say, he didn't know this woman and now he was in her house... what was he supposed to do?
