Avilon finished cleaning his blade, then sheathed it. He started looking at all of the corpses, checking to see if he could figure out what was wrong with them. He made notes on his PDA, which he had strapped to his wrist. "I wonder what causes this condition...hmmm." He slipped out his phone again and connected it to his PDA. He ran a quick program, and a crackle went over the radio again. Slipping his phone back into his pocket, he pressed a couple buttons and the PDA beeped three times, then three identical beeps went over the radio. "Alright, that should do it. Whenever we say anything over the radio, my PDA will record the transmission. Just in case we need to review any of it." He went back to searching the room for any signs of what happened.

"Good," LeFranc said. He found a note in the room, pinned to the back side of the drapes, facing the window. "What the f**k?" he said, more out of curiosity than exasperation. He took the note and read it to himself:
to whom it may concern: Your ambassadors are safe, for now. If you wish for them to remain that way, please contact your respective governments, and request the sum of $10,000,000 American Dollars. Otherwise, feel free to pray to whatever God you worship for safe passage of their souls.
"no way," LeFranc said, immediately skeptical. This couldn't just be about money...

"Well now, that's interesting." Avilon took a closer look at the note LeFranc found. "Wait, is that all they want? Money? I thought groups that took ambassadors didn't ask for that anymore. There has to be something else..."
He walked over to the broken desk and dug through the remnants. Finding a small case under the debris, he picked it up and dusted it off. He handed it to LeFranc. "Any idea what this is? Maybe some paperwork the ambassadors had?"

"No clue," said LeFranc. "Open it up and see."

Avilon looked at the latch of the box, checking for anything out of place. Not finding anything, he popped it open. Inside was a folder with a sheet of paper in it. The paper seemed to be a letter to someone. "This is interesting...apparently one of our ambassadors was up to something. This details how to get out of this building without using any of the normal exits. Apparently there's a door hidden somewhere on the first floor." He pointed to a crude map drawn on the corner. "And I'd guess that this room is what has the door in it. Is that the kitchen? Or maybe a storeroom? I can't quite tell."
